Everyone was expecting a memorable performance from Lady Gaga at the VMA Awards 2009 last night, but no one could have expected what came!
Lady Gaga performed her song 'Paparazzi' and her voice was much stronger and more confident that her first VMA performance.
But ... what's with the blood?
Lady Gaga's performance was strong but very gory!
I say gory because at a certain point during her performance, blood was oozing on her chest and from her eyes onto her face and that was a big eeew!
I know that she's trying to get a message across; the paparazzi killed her, but that was way gory and gross!

She was bleeding because "Pop Ate Her Heart". The song is about people being so obsessed with the paparazzi and fame. She has no preference for the media and she just...hates it so much she...bursts? The only people she cares about are her family, God, and her fans (ME!!).
The performance was very expressive. Perhaps it may have been too much for some people, but I absolutely loved it it bits...tiny bloody bits. <3

actually the song was inspired by Princess Diana, she was one of the most iconic people in the world paparazzi would never leave her alone, and she died from it, by a car crash trying to get away from paparazzi, remember lady gaga is english she was there for the princess and now that she is famous im sure she understands the pressure the princess went through....
I think she did a great job!
The blood part was to show how the paparazzi, and media keep on chasing their story...
Like Amber said, Diana died because of the paparazzi chased her and Dodi...
Like the wheelchair, etc. was to show that even when something bad happens, the media are all over it, like "blood thirsty wolves"...
Her performance was to show, that even if blood was to burst from her chest, there will be paparazzis taking pictures of it.
We as fans, should understand that it is us who in fact keep the paparazzi's working. If people wouldn't buy the magazines there wouldn't be a huge posse of photographers to follow all the celebrities around.
All I can say is that "Good job Lady Gaga! If the media want's blood, let's give em' blood ;) "

I think that Lady Gaga is awesome. This was an incredible performance. Just fantastic. The piano playing was awesome and so was the blood. I love Lady Gaga.

Definitely the best performance of the night.
The blood went with the frightened tone of voice. She had been stabbed by somebody and she was looking around for help, but nobody helped her they just watched her bleed to death and they took pictures. Then they strung her up. The message is that the machine is ruthless and the people are animals.
Best song ever. Best performance ever. Best performer ever.
