Were you able to watch the full coverage of Michael Jackson’s memorial ceremony last Tuesday? Musical performances were rendered as tribute to the late King of Pop; but did you notice the woman who led the rendition of MJ’s hit “Heal the World”? She did a great job of singing the song, so it can’t be helped that the millions of fans that watched the memorial began asking who she was.
Her identity was really a blank that time because her name wasn’t even on the handouts given at the Staples Center. But now her identity is no longer a mystery.
Her name is Judith Hill, a California-based vocalist who was supposed to be one of the backup singers for MJ’s This Is It! Concerts.
I’m sure you’re all curious to know why she was chosen to sing “Heal the World” when there are other popular singers, who are also close to Michael that could’ve sung the song. Well, obviously she has talent. And I think the fact that she was supposed to be a backup singer is enough reason for her to be chosen. And I’m sure you’ll agree that she did justice to the song.
Anyway, here are more facts about Judith Hill. She was born in Los Angeles and grew up in a family of musicians. Her mother is a Japanese immigrant and her father was in a funk band in the 1970’s. They have a religious household which made her attend the Christian school, Biola University in Southern California.
By the way if you liked her performance, don’t miss the tribute concert AEG Live because she and her crew will likely be a part of it.
Hi, nice post. I have been pondering this topic,so thanks for writing.
I will probably be coming back to your site. Keep up great writing.
do you know where can i download her music from?
when i first heard this singer, i really loved her voice, but i can't find any website to download her music, please can you help me?
thanks and excellent post :)
I don't believe as an adult she was "made" to attend Biola University. She studied music composition under John Browning at Biola's Conservatory Of Music. She was rehearsing the song as Jackson's duet partner for the London concerts. She sang this song to relay a message of God's love in a time of tragedy.
