Yesterday night, the 2009 BET awards paid tribute to the king of pop, Michael Jackson.
The whole event was re-organized to fit the sad turn of events and remember the music genius.

Jamie Foxx, the host of the event, and other stars took the opportunity, not to mourn the loss of the star, but to celebrate his life and his music that brought so much happiness to many people throughout the past 40 years of his career.

The surprise of the night, was the appearance of Janet Jackson and her addressing the audience.
She spoke to everyone on behalf of the Jackson family, she was visibly distraught as she said:
"My entire family wanted to be here tonight but it was too painful. To you, Michael is an icon. Janet said. "To us, Michael is family. He will forever live in all of hearts. On behalf of my family and myself, thank you for all of your love, thank you for all of your support. We miss him so much. Thank you so much".

Most of the performances throughout the event were of chart topping songs by Michael Jackson.
