King of Pop, Michael Jackson, Dies at 50

Michael Jackson

I grew up with the music of Michael Jackson ... I guess you did too.
I am mortified and shocked that he has passed away ... it just doesn't feel real.

A few months ago there were rumors that Jackson was very sick and that he was about to die ... but this time, unfortunately, it's true.
Michael Jackson passed away yesterday at 2:26 pm after suffering heart failure at his L.A. home.
A 911 call came in at 12:21 pm from his home. When Paramedics got to him after the call, he wasn't breathing. They rushed him to the hospital and couldn't bring him around.
He leaves behind three children.

The irony of the matter is that Michael was scheduled to hold a comeback tour next month; 50 concerts dates that are sold out! This was going to be the first time Michael performs LIVE in a decade!

No one can deny that he was an icon, a music legend. His album 'Thriller' is the biggest selling album in history!

I'm still trying to wrap my head around the fact that Michael Jackson is no more ... when you die, you die ...

Rest in Peace ... you will be hugely missed ...

it is truly sad to see someone like mike die.. although for the past few years his life was full of controversy he was still a human and he produced the greatest music and dance steps that an individual can witness.
its sad because on july 13 he was planning to bring back his career and start a 50 day concert i wish he could have accomplished that but i guess hes in a better place now =(

It is a very big sign for all humanity, because Michael loved by people from all over the world not depends on religion, skin's colour or nation! He was simple, sensetive and truthful as person and very very very talented as human! And now in that time when capitalists against Muslim country Iran and Sarkozy wants to forbid nikab (though it is PR action to attrect out people attention from his useless anticrisis deeds) people in every corner of the world will have news about Michael's death, and of course it would be said that he become Muslim! It is sign for humanity to answer question 'Why?' and to think about it! His death it is reminding that everyone of them will die too. And... He died in Holy mounth Radjab in that night when Parents of Muhammad Salallahu aleyhi wa sallam get married! From first Thursday on Friday Radjab! It is sign as a world financial crisis which happen it that time when money become for people the centre of universe! It showed that even money relationship got the best way in Islam when Shariat banks got profit even in time when american banks using haram system got failed! It is written in Q'uran that signs everywhere for that people who are thinking. Let's be among that people and among that who will be gathered around Muhammad in That Day. InshaALLAH. Today is Friday, make salawat and read du'a in last hour of Al Asr InshaALLAH. Takabala Allah.

The King of Freaks is gone ? Good riddance ! The little pervert was born at the right moment and the US music industry used him to the full advantage. He was good in dancing in his weird way, yet, his voice was mediocre .Overall : only good for the stadiums. Any arab singer can match what this guy did, but, not a single arab singer has the american showbiz industry as a support. This "king" was a psychopath all his life, what is all right as we cannot choose who we are going to be born as, but, as such a character he would not have had any chance in any arab country. The debt the guy left just adds to the pitiable picture of him. The "millions of sad fans" are showing the picture of the US - not of the "king" ...

i cant understand how you can say that? Micheal Jackson was abandoned from his childhood, he had the worst childhood you could ever imagine...when he grew up in fame he wanted to make more children happy!..thats why he created his neverland..i loved children...but unfortunately rumour's dont die and its all accusations...no one knows the truth!

and no arab singer can match what micheal has done, !! he is the original pop king...start identfying some arabs who can sing and dance like him??!! never can you find one !!

besides, unfortunately he has died..and all we can say is rest in peace...4get those ridiculous accusations and stop remembering the past and think of the present ......

    Mariam2,

sorry, but this is my observation of the "pop icon." There are many, many people who have had worse childhood than this star, but have managed to become descent people in the adulthood. If Jackson had problems he could have hired the best psychotherapist in the world and get straight with his youth. You are just sentimental about one worthless guy, who besides his status as a star - promoted, created and backed up heavily by the recording industry - and besides his notoriety, did not do anything else with the means that were at his disposal. At the end of his life he just became a useless, self-indulging creep. The pop-music he did is a matter of the taste and I have nothing to say about it.

I cannot identify any arab pop-star who can dance like Jackson because it is the cultural thing and no one in the arab world is crazy to dance like that on the stage. As for the singing, there are tons of singers who are vocally better then him, even the candidates in the Star Academy (which is vocally weaker show than the Super Star). What you like about the guy is the "package" created by the US industry. In order to sell some more of his recordings now they are beginning to compare him even with Elvis (who at least had a voice) ! That "whole world" is remembering Jackson is all right - because it means the US and the anlglo-saxson countries. The guy does not mean much to others. So let us pass him away ...

I respect that you have different taste. But if you look at the history of Michael Jackson, he created a big breakthrough for most stars that come on television and in the media until the present day: MTV would NOT put his music video "Thriller" on the TV when it came out, being racist at the time.
He fought against this discrimination, and even until his death.
I am actually disgusted at your comment. It's one thing to say you don't like his music, but it's another to say he didn't achieve anything in his life. According to history (even if you disregard my opinion), he actually did a lot for the music industry, and for A LOT of people, including me and a lot of people on this message board. So please don't disrespect him and all of his fans.
And by the way, it's not CRAZY to dance like him- look at how many fans there are because of his dance. Man, you gotta admit- he's got style! And look at how many Arabs here are his fans- evidence of fans other than Americans! Get you're FACTS right.
And DON'T CALL HIM A PERVERT. He was INNOCENT as a verdict of the case. WE SHOULD NOT SAY OTHERWISE. That is just unfair. That is what we have courts for.

do not indulge in the self-righteousness ! Don't you know anything about the public persona of the star ? He has been called by many - including some close to him - Wacko Jacko ! There is no smoke without the fire. For a change try to get "disgusted" by what is happening to the leaving, not what is said on some forum about the dead. For many in the middle east the life is hell; respect the leaving !

    seero,

I did not say he has not produced some music and a lot of shows; however, he did not fight the racial prejudices single-handed ! He appeared in the times when that was becoming a trend and eventually became a mainstream. On the other hand, how he felt about his brothers by race, you can judge by comparing his looks as a kid and what became of that in the recent years.

    PS:
You took the words out of context : it would be "crazy" to dance like that in an arab show - but, as an american, how would you know that (?)

    Abdulaziz, bitter much?

    Disrespectful, inappropriate & dumb comments.

He's not an Arab so get over it...Are you the brother of the Bahraini guy that tried to sue him in London by any chance?

Honestly just get lost. He sang, danced, choreographed, wrote & had heavy creative input over his videos, all this and he was forced into the Music industry at just 5. And he could play instruments! And through his work, similar to John Lennon showed us that he is also a humanitarian & an environmentalist; as much as his lack of freedom could allow him to be.

Elvis (as much as I like him) just sang & had zero control over his work, as do 99.9% of Arab singers...No one can touch MJ & he has nothing more to prove, especially to bitter people like you that can not do 1% of what he has done. He sold more albums than all the Arab artists put together. And if he doesn't mean much, how did he manage to sell 60 million thriller albums? By the way Elvis was known for his orgies & drugs so I suggest you read up before making a fool of yourself.

Michael Jackson is the only artist never to have been critical of other 'singers' bless him (eventhough it would have been too easy for him given his status) & he was always full of praise for everyone. He never bitched or asked for attention, it was heaped on him. Fans are global & even people from war torn nations such as Afghanistan are saying he is the only artist they knew.

    BEAT IT !

i wanted to comment to abdulaziz earlier today but i typed it and i was just disgusted by him and i didnt want to stoop down to his level and attack him back.

but, i think the things he said is very disrespectful and he just sounds like a hater!!

first of all- you cant compare everything to arab and non arab. not everything in this world is revolved around arabs. so get out of your little arab bubble. and you cant say any arab could do what michael did because no one PERIOD no matter from where, cannot do what michael did (i am arab lebanese by the way so i'm not talking bad about arabs)

second of all- how can you talk bad about his dancing? all dancers around the world are influenced by him and when they're asked whos your biggest inspiration most say mj! plus people all around the world are moonwalking and dancing to thriller! go check youtube or news related articles

and 3rd- you cant even compare a star academy student to michael jackson. that is unreal. first you would have to compare him to an english singing student which he is no where near being compared to LARA NADER ZAHER DIAA ECT..... i dont even know what else to say to that.. besides they'd have to know how to dance in SOME way close to him which no starac student has ever done......

i honestly think michael deserves all the attention that his death has brought him...

    I don't understand : you think I'm American?
It's funny actually, because I'm not. I'm an Egyptian living in London. So don't assume. And your comment doesn't make any sense by the way. What does his dance have to do with Arab shows? His dance is a style (which got him millions of fans). If Arabs don't want to do his dance on shows then OK haha. What does that have to do with anything?
And please, once again: GET YOUR FACTS RIGHT. He had Vertiligo- a disease which lightens the skin pigments, going red, then going White. This is known. But people say otherwise because they want to criticise. A disease doesn't define his feeling for his brothers, right?
It's also very interesting that the 'Sun' newspaper in the UK (which I know is a FILTHY newspaper, living in the UK) was the first to call Michael Jackson 'Wacko Jacko'. As someone said in this forum, Rupert Murdoch owns it, and he is a disgusting infamous character, even about the Arabs in the middle east we are worried about Abdulaziz. So I wouldn't trust this filthy gossip.
And surely even fighting for racial discrimination is a VERY commendable thing to do, even though historically, he was the first in the music industry to do this (hence what I mean by breakthrough).

This is my last comment on the subject as it does not deserve so much attention. The media are in a frenzy, as usually, on reporting on the "stars" when some of them get the spotlight, in life or death, and all the rest is pushed aside. So now we are watching the grief-stricken E.Taylor and other Hollywood celebrities parading their eternal love for the deceased (and in his life he was treated as an outcast by the same). The media feeds on the spectacular, why should we ?

    sam,

thanks for your smart comment. I am not fa an of Elvis, and, I understand that this Jackson and his family were successful in the US and the anglo-saxon world and could sell the millions of albums you are mentioning - though this number may be quite different in other countries. Yes, he was a nice guy, and the boys he was involved with say the same. You have some facts wrong : the Wacko Jacko nickname comes from the Hollywood people, and the "Jacko" himself used to like it initially ! (the trash tabloid "Sun" picked up on it much later and was the cause why it became pejorative); also, your claim that Afghans have not heard of any other artist but him, is - to be nice to you - preposterous. Ha-ha-ha !

That I am "hamud' makes me lough as well ! Or, perhaps : sam == wacko jacko !?

    hamud,

thanks for the common sense ! As an arab, be aware of expressing your thoughts in the open - it is not popular at some places.

    Honest,

As for the news coverage, the music houses do what their business is - with an eye on the cash. I do not have "hateful" comments - this how you read them.Your comments reflect respect and that you never have to say anything at all. Are you actually some beautiful parrot ?

    krystle,

thank you for stooping down to low level humanity. First, according to you, who this world should revolve around, the americans ? there are some arabs who did in the arab world as much as the Jacko in his. When you go home, ask. Second, if his influence in dancing is so widespread, please, tell me, who in the arab - or any other - world dances like that !? Only one arab star name would be enough for me (of an arab guy in an arab show dancing like that). Third, the Jacko, if he were anonymous, would not even pass through the starac selection (as regarding his singing ability) ! He could pass as a dancer; as the show is expanding and has accepted a rapper. Finally, if you like that music, no problem, but do not expect that the "whole world" is interested.

    jack black, TR,

    be more specific, explicit ...

    seero,

nice to hear you again. You are a westernized Egyptian, to be precise. Your approach is about right - as you are not brainwashed like the americans posting on the site, and because you are moderate I will respond to every point in your comment. You are right : if arabs in their shows do not dance like MJ - it is their problem ! About the MJ's physical change I have no facts and do not know who can give them. He may have been sick, and suffered from that strange skin-lightening problem, but you may notice that his nose and eyes and all other facial features have been changing and becoming something like a copy of the caucasian features. Was that also a result of some health problem ? For example, is Oprah W. suffering from the same symptoms ? You are saying "someone said on the forum" the "Sun" was first to call MJ ... So, "living in the UK" - you did not see it yourself when it happened ? In other words, you are taking the info from this web-page. If you do some research (it may take time), you could find out the nickname is much older and originated in Hollywood (among MJ's friends). The end of your next to the last paragraph I do not understand - you need to rephrase it dear. Finally, I agree, he was one of the first to fight the racial discrimination, along the way that many black musicians have already passed (some long time before him).

Abul Aziz...obviously ur not very smart. You like to distort facts, create scandal and look superior. I would hazard a guess about the essay you wrote there; that 99.9% of it is wrong.

Maybe you should actually watch the news and read books (not magazines) if you want to look smart instead of listening to Amr Diab & watching the wrong kinds of channels.

QUOTE (Source is a well respected website):
'...disseminated to the tabloid press.[50] These stories inspired the pejorative nickname "Wacko Jacko", which Jackson acquired the following year. He would eventually come to despise the nickname'.

You are the reason why people don't like Arabs; coz u look & sound like a superior snob eventhough you have barely any general knowledge. Tell Angham to sing some disco & then we'll let the west that you hate so much have a listen.

MJ has millions of fans in Japan/China/India/Indonesia...these are not Western nations. Now remind us how popular Amr, Nancy, Elissa are over there?

    Abdulaziz,

I did not "stoop down to low level humanity." I am not saying in any way that the world revolves around americans. I am in america and I personally don't like most of them anyways. Im just just talking about how you always say "an arab can do this, an arab can do that...bla bla bla ect ect ect....." and relating everything back to arabs

"Second, if his influence in dancing is so widespread, please, tell me, who in the arab - or any other - world dances like that !?" ...

Like I said the first time, go look at youtube videos and you will see videos all over the world of peoople dancing -like him. people all over the world not just america. theres a video of 1,500 people in the phillipines dancing to thriller. better yet, type in thriller and see how many people are dancing michael jackson style at parties, weddings, ect...

i'm not even going to waste my time on you because aparently 99% of us agree that the things your saying are wrong even though i've said already that your entitled to your own opinion..

and if you were trying to make fun of me by using "first of all, second of all, third..." thats really annoying. get a life instead of talking bad things about dead people.

anyways I agree with seero and i would just like to add that the theory to why he has changed his facial features is not to look caucasian. the theory is that he didn't like the fact that he was looking like his father, which i'm not even going to get into the family problems right now. this is a theory and not all theories are true, but the idea that he purposely changed himself to look caucasion is not necessarily true either and only allah would know.

"(as I am not a fan - neither a "hater," as MJ does not mean anything to me so why should I hate the guy?). "

Read back to the first comment you posted, you are a hater.

    Abdulaziz,

The fact that you are relieved by MJ death is what caused most of this anger. when u said :

"The King of Freaks is gone ? Good riddance !"

you wouldn't like it if a relative to you has died and then someones says that remark ...

MJ isnt our relative but he was some our inspiration, he entertained us, help people and has done numerous things....

the sad thing is that he sometimes doesn't get recognized for the great things he has done, the media enjoys all the gossip and rumors and so on….if there was someone I disliked I would never ever say im glad that they have died! its totally unreasonable!
