Amy Winehouse pleads not guilty to an assault charge made on her.
During the 15-minute court hearing on Wednesday, Amy strongly denied hitting a fan at a party she attended last September 2008 in London. The fan she allegedly hit was dancer Sherene Flash. Sherene said that Amy hit her in the eye when she asked to take a photo of the singer.

The court hearing held at the City of Westminster Magistrates Court turned out to be a fanfare. Her lawyer has some explaining to do because Amy arrived late even though she left her house two hours before the expected time. There were paparazzi flashing their cameras everywhere when Amy finally arrived on the scene. The soul singer arrived wearing a low-cut floral mini-dress, and of course she can’t leave home her trademark beehive hairdo.

At the actual hearing, Amy Winehouse only confirmed her name, date of birth, and pleaded not guilty to the charge. The attending judge, Timothy Workman, ordered Winehouse to attend a new hearing on July 23 at the same court. She was released on unconditional bail.

This charge was also the reason that Amy Winehouse was denied of a U.S. Visa to perform at the Coachella festival.
