This is the first time i do this post, but i felt i shouldn't let it slip away because somethings that were said last night are still sticking!
There were some funny words, some tear-inducing words, some others worth contemplating about.
Here's are my favorites ... after the jump ...
Oscar Night's Best Quotes
- Penelope Cruz: "Has anybody ever fainted here? I might be the first one."
- Sean Penn: "You commie, homo-loving sons of guns. I did not expect this, and I want it to be very clear that I do know how hard I make it to appreciate me often."
- Danny Boyle: "My kids are too old to remember this now but, when they were much younger, I swore to them if this miracle ever happened, I would receive it in the spirit of Tigger from Winnie the Pooh, and that's what that was."
- A. R. Rahman: "All my life I've had a choice of hate and love. I chose love. And I'm here. God bless."
As for the tear-inducing speech, it was no doubt when Heath Ledger's family got up on stage to accept the award ... that was really touching.

A.R. Rahman's quote was the best.
I love Sean Penn but I think Mickey O Rurke's performance was the most amazing actin work and he should have had the oscar.
OH!!! and Danny Boyle's!!!
Sean Pean is my favorite actor and I really like him.
Can't compare the performances coz I didn't see the movies but Sean Penn has always been one of the best, most versatile & most underrated actors in my eyes. And he's not afraid 2 talk politics & wars so good on him. He was too good 4 that trollop Madonna.
Johnny Depp is also a great actor so here's hoping...
They don't make actors like this anymore! Actors that have emerged in the 90's till now have been pretty bland & overhyped.
Mickey Rourke deserved to win
I agree with Sam about 90s actors being bland and over hyped ...male & female.
I do think Mickey Rourke's outstanding and DIFFICULT performance deserved the oscar merit-wise, tho.
and Sean Penn hung in longer and performed more consistently so it's partly political. He's a great director and definitely a good actor no question dont get me wrong
Yeah Penn is not afraid to talk politics but like someone else said better art should speak for itself and not preach a soapbox. (appropriate prop in the awards) Penn's "shame on you" is just as gross as others who go "shame on you" no better than.
Overhyped bland cardboard people is unfortunately the sad state of things now.
