The BAFTAs are usually eyed as the British Oscars, so it's kind of a big deal when you're a nominee and you actually get to take home a trophy!
It's been kinda' expected that Slumdog Millionaire will be one of the biggest winners of the night. It's not a surprise because the movie's making it big at other Award events!
Slumdog Millionaire and Benjamin Button lead the nominees with 11 nods each! That's big!

So, just as expected, Slumdog Millionaire won Best Film and beat Benjamin Button and Milk to it!
Best Director also went to the guy behind Slumdog Millionaire; Danny Boyle!
Leading Actor award went to Mickey Rourke for his role in The Wrestler.
Rourke also beat Brad Pitt and Sean Penn to it!
Leading Actress award went to Kate Winslet for her role in The Reader.
It's like Deja Vu, she beat Angelina Jolie, Meryl Streep and Kristin Scott Thomas to it!
She actually beat herself too! She was double nominated in that category for both her roles in The Reader and Revolutionary Road!

Heath Ledger got the award for Supporting Actor, while Penélope Cruz snagged the trophy for Supporting Actress.
