Trace Adkins 'X' , Hit or Miss?

Trace Adkins X

Trace Adkins' tenth album 'X' is all sassy, sexy and spiritual! What a combination!
The album contains 12 songs that deal with a bunch of issues; God, money, family, love, lust and nationalism.
'X' is exactly what we, fans of Trace, expect of him. Some may think this is a disappointment because it doesn't bring something new, but we consider it a good thing becasue Trace never disappoints us! Am i right, Trace Adkins fans?!

Although these themes are ones that are recurrent in previous albums, the songs aren't the same and we never get tired of listening to them!
If i have to answer my own question, I'd say 'X' is a Hit!
What do you say to that?
12 years into his career, no one can say that Trace Adkins isn't still on the rise!

So, my favorite songs from 'X' are Muddy Water, Sweet and the slow-rolling Let's Do That Again.
What are your favorite song from Trace's 'X'?

I'd agree "X" is a perfect 10! Or should I say 12? Trace has a way of delivering a song that no other artist has. Maybe it's the combination of his deep rich baritone and heartfelt lyrics that make his songs so magical. Trace has said in the past that a song has to touch him personally or he can't sing it. So you know he's singing from the heart. "X" is no exception.

It's very difficult to pick a favorite because it depends on the mood I'm in at the time moment. However, the songs I keep hitting repeat on are: I Can't Outrun You, 'Til The Last Shot's Fired, and Sweet. Sweet is a upbeat song filled with double entendres. Of which, Trace is a musical master.

CMT.com did have video of I Can't Outrun You as it was being recorded. Just Trace and the piano. It gave us a glimpse of the master at work. I Can't Outrun You is one of those songs that envelopes you and doesn't go away. A perfect example of Trace's way of making a song his own.

"Til The Last Shots Fired is one of a kind. It poses the hypothetical question, "What if the victims of war couldn't go "home" until the war is over? In other words, "til the last shot's fired." I wonder if the world would be so quick to war if they thought their loved ones who didn't make it back would have to wait until then to go "home"? The ending is sung by the West Pointe Cadet Choir. Just as you think the song has ended, the choir comes in asking you to say a prayer for peace. It'll send chills down your spine and touch your heart at the same time.

But, Trace is more than just a recording artist. He's also one heck of a performing artist. He commands the stage the moment his size 14 boots step on it. He connects with the entire audience, whether it's a small honky tonk or an arena. He uses the entire stage not just the at the center where the microphone stand is. Trace makes you feel like he's singing just for you. There aren't many artists out there that can do that.

As for the critics that say he's just doing the same old thing, it's because Trace has been "steppin' out of the box" from the very beginning of his career. How many other artists put the variety of songs on one album as Trace does? On his albums you will find a mixture of good old fashion country tunes along with gospel that leave you praying, blues that touch the soul, southern rock that take ya back and have you stompin' and clappin', and the fun little ditties that make us laugh. Perhaps the critic can see the forest for the trees, because Trace Adkins has had it right all along. As my Mama would say:

IF IT AIN'T BROKE DON'T TRY TO FIX IT!

Trace Adkins just keeps amazing his fans with each album. "X" is an outstanding mix of his fun side with Sweet and Marry For Money to the heart stopping Let's do that Again and I Can't Outrun You.
Muddy Waters reaches for that wonderful gospel Trace does so well and last but definitely not least, his touching heartfelt The Last Shot Fired----outstanding with the West Point Choir.

It's no wonder his fans love Trace and his family----that rich southern baritone voice impels loyalty---which is given by the fans from the heart.

It is a fantastic album. I've got to say sweet and marry for money are my favorites, if I have to pick. I like them all.
