One of the much talked about movies of this year, which was released today, is 'Milk'.
In this movie, Sean Penn stars as San Francisco activist and City Supervisor Harvey Milk, the first openly gay man to be elected to public office in California. Milk was murdered by a colleague in 1978!

The issue is tricky and strikes a current cord; California's Proposition 8.
Harvey Milk, to many people, was a hero. If he hadn't made an effort to run for district supervisor, although he'd many unsuccessful attempts, things would have been very different for the gay community in California and the US in general.
In this movie, Milk gets the chance to tell his story and shed light on this one issue.
This biopic takes us through the last 8 years of this man's life, as he goes from an ordinary insurance salesman from Long Island to becoming City Supervisor of San Fransisco and then to a huge candlelight vigil attended by a whopping 30.000 people!
