Rihanna has always got some surprise up her sleeve!
The other night at a UNICEF event held in New York, Rihanna donned a new tattoo, this time on her hand.
The tattoo, which is very eye-catching and exotic, is one she got in New Zealand while she was on tour.
Riri explains: "It's tribal. It represents strength and love. I've always wanted one."
But there's one catch, this tattoo wasn't drawn in the usual ways, but in the traditional way that Maori's (the native people of New Zealand) do it! And it hurts like hell!
Rihanna's New Tribal Tattoo
Riri's boo, Chris Brown, also got a matching tribal Maori tattoo.
Speaking of tattoos, both Riri and Chris have a cluster of stars tattooed on the back of their necks.

What do you think of Riri's new tribal tattoo? Do you like it? Would you get one like it?

Hey cool Maori tattoo.
Who designed it?
Was it Tiki Obrien from tikitat.com
I heard he is the top Maori Designer of Maori tattoo designs in New Zealand.
Cool anyway !!!

she is so cute! i love the tattoo, it looks great! i dont know why people would think it was fake! she did a great job last night too at the ama! i wonder if she wil be performing in the macy's day parade like shontelle!! i think its cool she got the ecko float, can't wait to see what that looks like!
Those tatoos are ugly.. is it me or does rihanna look like that new singer shontelle
She's getting too carried way with the tats...but yes i agree. Shontelle looks like her but has a natural beauty!
Yes I def agree that Rihanna is doing the most with all those tattoos. The matching ones she has with Chris Brown are cute. The rest is too rockerish. She is starting to lose her feminity...That's why I like her Barbados friend, Shontelle. She is a beautiful artist and still looks like a woman.
meh not really feelin her tatts. seem too trendy. and yeah, kinda diggin shontelle. shes trashy tatt free! haha dope voice too
Being a NZer and Maori I think their tats are awsome, i would never be brave enough though to get it the traditional way with the pigs tooth.. ouch!!!
The tattoo is great! Me being Maori, would say that she is one brave lady. I would never get it done the traditional way, Ouch! But Im getting one like that very soon! (:
i think its nice... tiki obrien is good. but he isnt the TOP maori tattooo designer..and nobody can claim that position unless god almighty put it upon him!! ha ha, there are still people like mark kopua and derek lardelli who are well known tohunga (or experts) in the world of taa moko (maori tattoo)
Yeah!
I heard about Tiki Obrien and his work all the way from Holland by a friend who got a design from him.
I hear he has thousands of followers who beleave his designs have transformed their lives.
Apparently, his work is sort all over the world
im gonna get one some day.
Dont know who mark kopua and derek lardelli are?
CC
If you lived in New Zealand, and you are a Maori you would know who mark kopua and derek lardelli are.
I think what differentiates Tiki From the other Ta Moko artists is He is known internationally around the world
and has broken through the local Maori traditional arts scene in New Zealand which is hard to do
even with only 4 million people.
Tiki is definitely in another league, and he has achieved this without having to pick up a tattoo gun, a chisel
or paint brush.
