When you say Tom Cruise, lots of things come to mind like Top Gun and Mission Impossible ... and it doesn't get better than that! I know, Scientology comes to mind, but that's not the point here!
Tom Cruise has been the guy for action movies like Mission Impossible since forever and it wouldn't be the same without him!
There's news that there will be a Mission Impossible 4 but Paramount wants a younger, cheaper guy ... would that work?! Personally, I don't think so!
Tom, although 46, is still at the top of his game and is the only one who can make MI4 work!
I wouldn't want to watch MI4 and neither would my husband if it weren't Tom playing Ethan Hunt!
What do you think? Is Tom Cruise now too old to star in Action movies? Or has he still got it in him?

Nope, he's not too old. He's the man.
I thought the Mission Impossible movies really went the wrong way from the beginning. What happened to the ensemble cast of great actors from the original Mission Impossible TV series? That's what I always thought was great about the shows - the cast. When it was made into a vehicle just for Tom Cruise, the whole thing lost its appeal for me.
Go back to the original concept! Make it into the real Mission Impossible and the fans will come back. Get rid of Tom Cruise. He's not to old - it's just getting old watching him.
I have never been a big Tom Cruise fan so I do not see why he is so critical to MI4.
As for age....he was cute in the 80's but he is showing some age but he does not look old.
I do not think 46 is too old for an action star, Look at Harrison Ford! He is great, the last Raiders movie was just as fun as the the first.
I don't think it is TC's age but a lot of people are just not that into him anymore. I for one never thought he was that great as an actor in the first place.
TC is still more than capable to be an action star! Look at what he has done in the past; he could go at half speed and still do more than most leading actors do in their movies. The Last Samuri, for example......amazing! He lives a squeaky clean lifestyle; he will be good in action movies for another decade at least!
If someone else does MI4, it could be a great movie, but it won't be as good as if he was in it......anytime you sub-out a main actor like that, it looses some of its charm.
Tom Cruise does an excellent job in Mission Impossible - I have no idea why they would want to replace him with another actor. I think he's the right man for the job - I've loved all of the mission impossible movies and would definitely like more of the. I think it's that way with most series - like the Bourne Identity - love that series too. I think it would also be a big mistake to replace Matt Damian. Also, they should keep the mission impossible series being very "realistic" - in other words, not doing stunts that are obviously impossible to do - I think it is much better to have the Mission Impossible stunts be highly coordinated but actually "possible" to have come together.
Tom Cruise's Scientology crime syndicate is entirely the point. It doesn't matter how old the guy gets, people are just unwilling to look at the heterosexual clown cultist onj the big screen becayuse despite whatever role he's playing as an actor, it's his frothingly insane selling of organized crime that stands foremost in people's minds when they see him.
The crimes that Cruise sells -- Scientology insane and fraudulent "drug treatment" scam that the crime syndicate calls their "NarCONon" is just one of the massive criminal frauds that Cruise tries to sell to the gullible marks, suckers, and rubes out there who don't know that "NarCONon" is actually Scientology.
Cruise's career is over. Having fallin in to abject insanity at the hands of the Scientology crime syndicate, he will _never_ recover. And nobody wants to look at him any more.
I liked the original Mission Impossible series ... before it was hijacked to be a megalomania vehicle for Tom Cruise's ego. It was so cool to watch how all th9se stars worked together like clocks, like a team. Then it was hijacked to be a Tom Cruise idea of himself. He believes it too .
Scientology ?? They look down on other people too and justify crimes because they have a way to help people.
So bring back the GOOD original Mission Impossible with those cool actors!!
Oh and Tom is good at action, yep, he's got that good one note tantrum range! And also I think Scientology has some good things but it also has been hijacked and it is pitiful that GOOD STUFF is used by delusional egomaniac control freaks to bamboozle people. The point is to help people and to create cool art.
I don't think Tom is too old to be in MI4, no one can play the role better. He's still handsome and sexy as ever.
It would be a huge mistake to replace him.
