From the various Avril Lavigne concert videos I’ve seen online, I can’t say that I have any complaints. I’m sure you’ll agree with me in saying that her concerts and her performances are good. However, the Malaysian opposition Islamic party Parti Islam SeMalaysia (PAS) is of another opinion. They are asking the Malaysian government to ban Avril Lavigne’s concert in Malaysia. The Canadian pop singer is scheduled to have her concert at the Stadium Merdeka on August 29 as part of her world tour.
PAS’s reason for the ban is that her concert would be an insult to the Merdeka freedom fighters! Last Saturday, PAS youth chief Kamaruzaman Mohamed gave a memorandum to Kuala Lumpur Mayor Datuk Hakim Borhan and the Unity, Culture, Arts and Heritage Ministry asking to ban the concert.
It's worth mentioning that there are also some Malaysians who do not agree with PAS’s idea. The Malaysian Astiste’s Association (Karyawan) described it as ridiculous. It’s President, Freddie Fernandez even pointed them out as narrow-minded.
As for Avril, she has not made any statement about the issue and is just letting her manager handle it.

Many ppls were talking about this on youtube and else where, ppls get mad at this stupid decision made by PAS YOUTH! Ppl, why don't we go protest upon this in a peaceful way? I believed they will come up with more ridiculous idea next time if we just keep quiet...
