Rihanna is one of the pop stars whose transformation has been phenomenal. I liked her ever since the Umbrella days. I really liked the video and the lyrics of this single from her album Good Girl Gone Bad. Her image and her music has always been good and wholesome, but now I think that is about to change in her new single Disturbia. This song is taken from the album Good Girl Gone Bad: Reloaded. Just like the title, the video and the song itself have dark themes. Personally, I liked the video except for some scenes and some props used in the video like the chains and distressingly loony-looking people!
Disturbia certainly marks a change from the wholesome videos Rihanna did in the past and many fans are not used to seeing her in something like this. I guess this is the reason why a lot of people have a somewhat negative view about it.
But to tell you the truth, the first time I saw this video I had the same feeling. It was only after seeing it several times that I got to appreciate the artistic way it was done. The song is said to be written by Rihanna’s boyfriend Chris Brown. The video was directed by David LaChapelle. LaChapelle was also the one who directed Christina Aguilera’s “Dirty” video.
As you will see everything about the video was professionally done, cinematography was all good.
Well, this is what I think. Tell us about your impression of Rihanna’s Disturbia.
