Two months from now the 60th Primetime Emmy Awards will be aired live on ABC. The people in charge of the award are busy compiling and evaluating who are the worthy awardees for this year. At least we now have some ideas who are competing for the awards as the nominations were already declared by the Academy of Television Arts & Sciences. This year’s Emmy is the first to give an award for top-host for a reality-competition show. The nominees in this category are Ryan Seacrest for American Idol, Heidi Klum for Project Runway and Tom Bergeron for Dancing with the Stars. Howie Mandel for Deal or No Deal and Jeff Probst for Survivor were also nominated for this category.
For drama AMC’s Mad Men has 16 nominations, the highest of any drama series. Mad Men’s nominations include best drama series and best leading actor Jon Hamm. Other nominees for best actor are Bryan Cranston for Breaking Bad, Michael C. Hall in Dexter, Gabriel Byrne for In Treatment, Hugh Laurie in House and James Spader in Boston Legal. For lead actresses in drama series, the nominees are Sally Field for Brothers and Sisters, Glenn Close for Damages, Mariska Hargitay in Law and Order: SVU, Kyra Sedgwick for The Closer and Holly Hunter for Saving Grace.
HBO’s historical miniseries has 23 nominations including lead actor in the category. Lead role was acted out by John Adams.
For the comedy category, 30 Rock has 17 nominations among them are best series, best leading actor (Alec Baldwin) and best leading actress (Tina Fey).
