Hancock: Not Your Typical Super Hero Movie

will smith is hancock

How about another dose of superhero movie? “Hancock” is a superhero movie that you have to watch out for. But be warned that it is not like any typical heroic movie like Iron Man or even Superman. Hancock, played by Will Smith, is a drunken super hero with an attitude problem. Among the things that make him stand out is his superhuman strength and the fact that he is bullet proof. The start of the movie will keep you entertained with all the comical things Hancock does in his clumsy manner. Together with this hilarity, you also have to be ready for some violence, though it’s rated PG-13 there are some gruesome scenes.

At this point of the movie, Hancock meets Ray Embry (Jason Bateman). Ray is a kind-hearted man who sets out to help Hancock. This part of the movie is the slow unraveling of why our super hero is the way he is. From comedy we get switched to drama in this part, likewise there’s also a romantic tone when Ray’s wife Mary (Charlize Theron) comes to the scene. And through Ray’s helping hand, Hancock was able to turn his life around. This super hero went into rehab, attended anger management course and served time in prison for his previous misdeeds. Through all these efforts Hancock’s reputation went for the better that even the media talked positively of him. More action is expected as he comes face to face with his ultimate enemy, played by Eddie Marshan.

As I’ve said before, Hancock is not your typical super hero movie. Surprise is at hand at every turn. If you’re not flexible, this movie is not for you because the inconsistent tone will not make it enjoyable for you.
