I guess sometimes I'm just behind the news! It’s a shame I was not able to catch Camp Rock on TV. This is one of the most-watched programs in Disney Channel, coming a close second to the High School Musical 2. And due to its success, Disney is now planning a sequel to Camp Rock.

The company’s target date for production is in 2009, either late spring or summer. The original cast will still be in the sequel. Fans can get to see more of the heartthrobs Jonas Brothers – Joe, Kevin, and Nick; so with Demi Lovato.

Camp Rock was aired over the weekend on Disney Channel, ABC, and ABC Family. As a movie-musical, Camp Rock attracted over 8.86 million viewers in Disney Channel. The viewers composed mainly of teens and children. Based on Nielsen Media Research, half of the children aging 6 to 14 who were watching TV from 8-9:55 PM on Friday were hooked on Camp Rock. Camp Rock had a rerun on Saturday on ABC that gathered 3.7 million viewers. There was also another airing last Sunday which had additional 3.7 million viewers.
