When Angelina Jolie traveled solo a few days ago, she flew to London then to Amman ... but she took it a step further from there ... she went to War Stricken Iraq!
On Thursday, Jolie popped up in Baghdad to support of the thousands of homeless and displaced Iraqis that have lost nearly everything because of the war there.
Jolie is there as part of her role as a United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees and is on a US government mission with the State Department to Iraq.
Naturally, she met with the top US commander in Iraq, Iraqi Prime Minister and Iraqi migration officials.
Jolie also headed to a Green Zone cafeteria and ate lunch with a large group of US troops.
So, what does she say about the whole situation in Iraq? Jolie says:
"There's lots of goodwill and lots of discussion, but there seems to be just a lot of talk at the moment, and a lot of pieces that need to be put together. I'm trying to figure out what they are."
In an interview with CNN, Jolie elaborates on the issue by saying: after the jump ...
Angelina Jolie : Hands on in Iraq
"What happens in Iraq and how Iraq settles in the years to come is going to affect the entire Middle East, and a big part of what it's going to affect, how it settles, is how these people are returned and settled into their homes and their community and brought back together and whether they can live together and what their communities look like."
Jolie also visited displaced Iraqis ... a hands on view of the real situation and the true suffering of a country torn by instability and aggression.
I admire Angelina Jolie for all she's doing ... but as she puts it, there's a lot of talk and no real action ... something needs to be done to help that region and to help those poor people who are losing their loved ones, there homes and their country!
