It was officially announced on The View Wednesday, that Whoopi Goldberg is going to join the hosts of the show permanently.
Barbara Walters said: "This is a big day for us. A happy day for us."
Goldberg is scheduled to start the day after Labor Day.
Goldberg is most excited about the "Hot Topics" portion of the program.
She said: "The thing I'm looking forward to the least is getting in between everyone talking at one time."
As for her co-hosts, Elisabeth Hasslebeck says: "She is soulful, has a world of experience to bring to the table, and I don't sense any sort of political agenda."

As for Joy Behar, she says: "I think Whoopi brings warmth. We know that she brings humor and talent, but she also brings warmth, and on television, people have to like you. She's very, very likable, and I'm thrilled to have her."
