These two sequels have been widely awaited and anticipated and it seemed for a while that the star-studded ‘Oceans 13’ starring George Clooney and Brad Pitt would take the lead, but things seem to be shaping up for ‘Fantastic Four’. Whilst ‘Fantastic Four’ made nearly $57 million, ‘Oceans Thirteen’ made a relatively measly $19.1 million. ‘Fantastic Four’ even surpassed the last movies ticket sales by just $1 million.

Although it seems that ‘Oceans Thirteen’ have been beaten, they are still on track to hit the $100 million bar after its impressive opening weekend. Other movies in the top ten include the new teen movie ‘Nancy Drew’ and the marital arts movie ‘DOA: Dead or Alive’. Although the numbers are high, these films have made a lot less sales than ‘Cars’ , ‘Nacho Libre’ and ‘The Fast and the Furious’ which were screened this time last year. I guess we will just have to wait and see who comes on top at the end of the next week.
