Kate Austen is Canadian actress Evangeline Lilly. So, who is Evangeline Lilly?
Lilly, whose first name is actually Nicole, was born in 1979 in Alberta, Canada.
Here's a very interesting thing that Evangeline did at the age of 18, she served briefly as a foreign missionary and lived in a grass hut in the Philippines!
Would you believe that she was offered & nearly accepted a missionary post there for two years !?
She's very active in humanitarian issues, she's been a volunteer for children's projects since she was 14 and founded and ran a world development and human rights committee while studying international relations at the University of British Columbia.

Before becoming an actress, Evangelina was a flight attendant on Air Canada.
Her career was basically limited to small roles & was uncredited ... But Lilly's first speaking role was on Lost in 2004! That year, she was voted one of the Breakout Stars of 2004 by Entertainment Weekly.

On the set of Lost, her mates call her 'Monkey' ... because of her amazing ability to climb trees! She is also known on set for being a tomboy! Figures!
Josh Holloway also calls her 'Freckles' on the set, just like his on-screen character Sawyer calls her.

What i respect about Evangeline, is her attitude towards nude scenes; she would not appear in a nude scene or perform in sexual scenes that she would consider "gratuitous" or meaningless. Great! Kudos to ya!
