Lots of audiences seems to feel that when Mischa Barton's character was killed in the 3rd season, that made many lose interest! Could that be a strong enough reason to cancel a whole show!? I don't think so!
The better explanation would be the competition the show is getting from other shows like Grey's Anatomy. That would be more logical.
But in all cases, the cast of The O.C. have also enjoyed success on the big screen! ... A taste of the movies!
Rachel Bilson starred in 'The Last Kiss', Adam Brody appeared in 'Mr. And Mrs. Smith' & 'Thank You for Smoking' & Benjamin McKenzie impressed critics with his performance in 'Junebug'.
If fox cancles the oc they will lose alot of viewers. The oc is the best show they got on their network...what r they thinking. I think they need to reconsider their dicision because it will screw them over big time in the end when all their ratings go down. What a bunch of idiots!
This is RUBBISH! I can't believe they're cancelling this show! They keep doing this with good shows and replacing it with cheaper reality television!..You know what guys..reality television has run its course..the novelty is over! A couple are okay but we don't need so many useless ones that no one likes! I just watched the new O.C. episode and it was hilarious! I think season four is even better than the 3rd season! By the way does anyone know if they're cancelling any other popular shows that I should know about?!?

Personally they shouldn't have killed mischa bartons character by killing her the show has become boring. So if they are thinking of canceling it, they should. It's not the same anymore and other shows are becoming WAY better.
this is so gay. it shouldnt be canceled that is my favorite show. the people that stoppped watching the show ar so dumb. just cause Marisa died doesnt mean that its not good. its still a good show. she wasnt even the main character. sandy and ryan are the main ones. this is so dumb i strongly think that it shouldnt be canceled. there arre many new viewers to the show so yea. but if this is going to be there last season then they shouldnt jsut cut it off and not have as many episodes. it can still be there last but dont just cut it off the air. i love that show. it also brings in many singers that most people havent even heard of. some arent even signed yet. i think that the producers are amazing... really.. but they shouldnt just say there cutting the show. they could say that it this is its 4tht seasons.

So when i found out they were cancelling the O.C. I didn't believe it but wow,that has to be the worst desision. The show is amazing, the charactors are great and i think the writers really keep the viewers wanting more. Just because marissa was killed off i don't think that they should cancel it. People die off of soap operas all the time and they don't get cancelled. I think this is a horrible desision and i hope that it just does not happen.
Perhaps,In Season 4 by bringing in a character just the oppisite of Marissa's aloof nature, that an overbearing "Taylor" is not an appropriate character for this demographic. Mischa Barton embodied the typical troubled & wealthy, which is reflected in our socitey daily. Although, Ryan's character, without Marissa, he had no one to draw him into physical situations or purported reasons for the hardened stare and clenched jaw.
As far as Season 4, the plot is getting admittedly thin,but that's part of the appeal. Int the rich tradition of Aaron Spelling's multiude of hits, such as, Dallas,90210, similar formula and it's just being repeated. McG is a somewhat talented director however,very stylisitic, inclusive of music montages, and having current music, ie; bands at the excuse for a alcohol-free night club "The Bait Shop".
The hurdle of collegiate aspirations, is a large gap, to fill with heartfelt talks, and concerned looks, from a recovering drunken mother.Kirsten is similar to Ryan's biologial mother, e.g. drunk,careless,gives bad advice, although Kristen had the advantage of the ireprepable Sandy Cohen.There is always a few lines dedicated to what would be called "backstory" somthing about a postal truck and proud alma matter of Berkeley.
Anyways, I love Kevin Sorbo as Frank Atwood, that's just icing on the cake.
And there will always be DVD heaven.
The O.C is amazing and this Season is maybe even the best one. I think everyone got confused when Marissa died and was like......they're all goin 2 different collages? That's stupid. And so they stopped watching it, but they haven't seen how unlike that it is and how amazing it is. It's the same old O.C but better. I think that this is one of the worst decisions ever, and as for tough competition, they should maybe try and find a better day to air it, or w/e, it's still doing good, they shouldn't quit. And if they HAVE to, then they should finish this Season really strong and end it with no holes, like Theresa, they can't just not fix that situation. So yah if they do cancel it they better have an amazing end to the season.
This wouldnt of happnened if the writers didnt use so many stories in season 1, they ran out of ideas and therefore by introducing characters such as oliver, zach ,johnnny and volchuck or whatever he is called, annoyed a lot of viewers. season 2 wasnt so good but i think during season 3 the oc returned to its best. yes marrissa dying meant people were always going to stop watching the show but if they dealt with that and made the 1st episode of season 4 a better one with the aftermath straight away or something other than ryan being a cage fighter viewers may have stayed loyal and ratings higher. i think its a real shame it is being cancelled but then again its better than dragging it on and rachel, adam and benjamin leaving with each season. The oc has been one of the best shows of the last 10 years and it appeals to more than just teenagers as i know many adults that watch it. its my favourite show and i feel that it has been watsed and at certain times storylines have let it down. so dont blame ratings as they wouldnt be so low if it wasnt for season 2 and the lack of brilliance that was present in season 1!!

All the characters are awesome and the show is WICKED!! Does anyone know of somewhere where you can go to to actually write to the producers and tell them we DONT WANT OC CANCELLED!! This is the only good show left on really. Everytime we all start getting into something good on FOX they cancell it. I am with the other people who said no more reality shows. Watching something that could be compared to real life drama is much better than watching a few people trying to get 15 minutes of fame!!! THIS IS BULL SHIT. FOX IS MAKING A HUGE MISTAKE, THEY HAVE TO CONTINUE THE SHOW. THIS SEASON IS BY FAR BETTER THAN THE THIRD WAS, THIS IS CRAZY!THE JAY KID THAT SAID IT SUCKED IS A COMPLETE IDIOT AND DOESN'T KNOW ANYTHING.
So i can not believe that they are cancelling 'The O.C'. This show actually portrays what the rich and famous act like. With their story lines that so many people can relate to. such as summers recent pregnancy scare. I LOVE this show and its what i look forward to on thursday nights. I hope that if they have to cancel it due to budget reasons that they can at least keep it a full season and finish up all the story lines. I hate it when they just cut a show and do not give it an actual ending that fans can be proud of. I mean we've stayed loyal all these years its the least they could do. All I can say is 'firefly' same thing happened and what a mistake that was...this really is a mistake!!

I agree , if the oc is being canceled , fox will lose more viewers than ever , the oc is the most popular show on the network , the rating probably did go down because of marissa coopers[played by mischa barton] death , but that is still no reasont o cancle the show , the oc is the best show on the go , its my favortie show ever , i look so forward to being able to sit down on thrusday night & watch the oc , i dont want it being canceled , or any of my friends either :(
