Ever since I was a kid, I’ve loved Rocky movies. Even at the age of 10 while watching Rocky 4 for the millionth time, I knew what I was in for. A contestant of superior power to that of Rocky, some macho training scenes with awesome uplifting music that makes you wanna punch the first person you see, and a dramatic, bloody, exaggerated final fight which usually goes all the way up to the 15th round preceded by different variations of “Gonna Fly Now”. This is what we were given and we fell for it every time! And why should you expect anything more from the sixth and final installment of the beloved hero?

This one really made me think…

Stallone is pushing 60 and he’s still got muscles and looks great. I don’t think there’s anyone who could look as great at that age. He still feels he wants to fight for the last time amidst many family problems with his son and Paulie. He’s now older and wiser almost like a philosopher even, giving one line advice tips to people.

Don’t get me wrong…this movie was great. Well made, well acted, well done!
But, I still think there was no need for it.
I love Rocky just as much as the next guy, but I felt this 6th attempt was more of a personal challenge for Stallone to end the saga on a better note than the tragic Rocky 5.
My only wish was that some of the old characters like Clubber Lang, Ivan Drago or Apollo Creed could have been included even if it were only a line.

Please go and watch this one as soon as you can. Although non-Rocky fans may not appreciate it as much.
