Karen Lincoln Michel, president-elect of Unity: Journalists of Color Inc., said O'Donnell's remarks "really didn't sound like an apology to me." She's refereeing to how Rosie O'Donnell imitated how she thought Chinese broadcasters might sound discussing actor Danny DeVito's drunken appearance on "The View"!

"You know, you can imagine in China it's like `ching chong, ching chong chong, Danny DeVito, ching chong chong chong, drunk, "The View," ching chong," O'Donnell said.

Now she's saying that she didn't know that the words "ching chong" were as offensive as the "N" word for blacks.
"Really?” I didn't know that." she said. (I guess playing dumb is also part of her show)

"You know it was never (my) intent to mock," O'Donnell said on Thursday's show, "and I'm sorry for those people who felt hurt or were teased on the playground."

Yet another racist remark made by a celebrity. What's wrong with these people? Do you have to be racist on TV? Remember Seinfeld actor "Kramer's" remarks on blacks? Can't these people put a lid on it or something? And what’s worst is that Kramer used to be on my top 5 list of funny men.

I guess no one’s laughing now!

I think anyone who is making a big deal about Rosie's joke, needs to take a good hard look at themselves and ask WHY are they making such a stupid fuss over a COMEDIAN'S JOKE!?!?!? Give me a BREAK and GET A LIFE!!! There are far worse things going on it our world today than to make such a fuss over something sooooooooo SILLY!!!

Ok people, I can see now is a good time to get over ourselfs. really, what is the world coming to. Everyones skin has gotten so thin they have become transparent. people speak what they want and i think thats a good thing. if you dont like what thier saying change the channel, watch some other show, or if you really need to, voice your thoughts. I mean were is the world going without good racial jokes. Long live comedy and foul words

Rosie often engages in humour that is adolescant at best. Thats her gig. She plays the lout. Problem is that people seem to want to play victim more and the really horrible things people say and do are trivialized by whining. She is a comedian and has a big mouth. She was being a silly idiot in 'goof' mode not the hate spewing Michael Richards fashion.

I'm an asian american. I dont find Rosie's comments offensive. You have to look at the context. What I do find offensive are white people who say that Rosie's comments aren't offensive. "It's her gig"..."Get a sense of humor"... Well, of course YOU don't find it offensive. You're not CHINESE. Stupid white people. get a life

Rosie O'donnell's sensitivity doesn't seem to fall short when someone says something about hom-sexuals. Take the recent episode with Kelly Ripa and Clay (not sure he is gay) Aikens.

She rants endlessly when a gay joke is made. She can dish it out, but she can't take it!

I can't beleive this post was kicked back because I used the term hom-sexuals. I had to delexe the second O. This is madness!

wow... so you'll take offense to a remark like "stupid white people" but think that a public figure's racist rant on television is OK as long as it's done in the name of humor? cracker
