Madonna
As you know, Madonna is adopting a baby boy, David Banda, from the African country of Malawi. But human rights groups in Malawi have challenged the courts legal right to allow her to do so.
"We have taken the position that we must challenge and appeal against the decision made by the court to give Madonna an interim order to adopt a child from Malawi," said Justin Dzodzi, chairman of the Human Rights Consultative Committee.
So the woman wants to adopt a boy, what's the problem?
The thing is that under Malawian law, any foreigners adopting a Malawian child have to live in the country for a year and a half and are monitored by social workers before they get full adoption rights.
Will Madonna live in Malawi for 18 months in order to adopt little David? Is she ‘that’ willing to do so?
Let’s suppose that the laws were changed for her, so what?
What are these rights workers --who want to stop Madonna-- doing for poor David?
Madonna adopting a child from Africa could not be more obvious. I guess she thinks shes not getting enough attention hanging around on crucifixes. If she really wants to help children she should give all the money shes spending traveling to Africa for her "press tour" directly to the orphanages that care for these children.
Bravo to the Malawi govt for not allowing her to "buy" a kid just because she feels like she wants to show the world what a humanitarian she is.
I agree. If she's worried about the mother being dead and the father not being able to raise the child because he's poor and it's REALLY about *charity*...then just help the Dad out! Give him some assistance to raise his own son.
She is arrogant and treats the occasion as a photo op and pet store.
