Gibson Forgiven?

Mel Gibson

Remember earlier this year when superstar Mel Gibson was arrested for drunk driving? The reason the media went crazy was that the actor and award-winning director addressed the words "Jews are responsible for all the wars in the world” to the police officer who made the arrest.

Well now Braveheart-Gibson is working hard to prove that he is not anti-Semitic as he’s been accused of in the past. His movie “The Passion of the Christ” (2004) received criticism for alleged anti-Semitic imagery and connotations. Gibson has strongly denied that the movie is anti-Semitic, but critics remain divided.

Well now he’s paid the $1,300 fine, he has not been driving for the past ten weeks (license restriction), he is offering apologies, and he says he hasn’t touched alcohol for 65 days, ever since the arrest.

Wouldn’t that be enough?
Apparently so, since he was recently invited to meet with three prominent American Jewish groups, after publicly apologizing for his anti-Semitic rant. The 1939 Club, New York's Museum of Jewish Heritage and a Beverly Hills rabbi have all asked the Hollywood star to meet with them. It would seem that his efforts to clear his image and rehabilitate his name are working.

Has Mel done too much or not enough? Are you convinced he’s not anti-Semitic?
