Madonna

48-year-old American superstar Madonna, one of the world's wealthiest women, has officially adopted Africa as a cause and has sealed the deal by adopting an African baby boy from the poor nation of Malawi which lies in Central Africa. Malawi is considered to be in the top ten list of the poorest countries in the world.
The nation’s 13 million people are struggling with Aids and poverty. And Madonna, who is worth about $450 million, has decided to join a list of rich stars and donate $3 million on programs to erase poverty in Malawi.

Isn’t she sweet?

But she’s not alone…
Goodwill ambassador and stunningly beautiful actress Angelina Jolie and Brad Pitt adopted four kids from Cambodia, and one-year-old Zahara, from Ethiopia.
See, they can do nice things too!

Ewan McGregor and his wife adopted a four-year-old girl from Mongolia this year…the force is strong with her!
And in January, the wonderful Meg Ryan fostered a baby girl in China.

Are stars doing enough for the poor? Couldn’t they spend a little more from their never-ending bank accounts? But at the same time, should we be so critical of them? Isn’t it enough that they are helping in the first place?
What do you think?

Update: Madonna did not adopt a little Africa baby from Malawi.
"I can confirm Madonna is in Malawi on a private visit," the singer's publicist, Liz Rosenberg said in a released public statement. "She is building an orphanage and child care center and is involved in other initiatives geared toward helping children orphaned by AIDS through the Raising Malawi organization.
