Mischa Barton's Marissa Cooper was killed in a car crash. That's how Fox's "The O.C." closed its third season Thursday.
It was rumored a few weeks ago that Barton's character was going off the show. And Mischa herself said: My character has been through so, so much and there's really nothing more left for her to do.

i think that killing marissa cooper was the stupidest idea EVER! how could they seperate RYAN and MARISSA- and they still expect the show to go on- w/o the whol ryan n marissa side to it, NEVER! ppl will not watch EVER AGAIN. this has made ppl lose all hope of ever seeing ryan n marissa together again - much worse than leaving berkeley for her dad's stupid boat job. n the worst thing is- we didn't even get a chance to see ryan n marissa get back together after the whole johnny break up thing. not one kiss, not even one "i love you ryan~" !!! ryan deserves a lot more! how could they do that! after all these characters have been through together, being there for each other time after time, true soul mates, destiny always bringing them back together. but no, now they just choose to kill marissa simply so that mischa barton gets what she wants- but how can anyone love her now- after what she has done with the oc, she thinks she can still excel further? use this fame in movies? nobody will love her anymore.. all the viewers wanted from her is to stay with ryan n be ther for him, the show is nothing without the pair. so if she really wants to be famous and loved by fans all over the world, i suggest that she STAY in the oc. the fans love mishca as MARISSA and just want her to be ther for ryan- that's it. i think she mad the worst decision. ryan and marissa r meant to be. now the show is nothing. its meaningless to most of the oc fans out there. if she IS dead (and she probably is) the oc ratings r GOING DOWNN!!! they can still bring marissa back -like the OD scene.. so please I HOPE IT IS SERIOUSLY CONSIDERED. You are all crazy! Killing off marissa was the best thing they could have done for the show- she was the worst actress on the show (to the point of being really annoying) and the show can only get better now that she has left.

dude killing marissa was actually the stupidest thing they ever done.. Josh Swartz should actually be shot. Marissa was one of the main characters you can't just kill one of them, and noone actually knows forsure that shes dead (but she most likely is)like Trey was shot hoow many people thought he was dead, he ended up in a coma.. But if marissa's dead the oc's ratings will goo dooooooooowwwwnnnn so many people watch that show because of marissa she seriously brings in a lot of viewers.. The oc will go like noo where without her what ryans gunna cry and be like i loved her then whats next he'll move on to thersa or something that'd be lame. what about summer her best friend everyones going to college are they just not gunna go, becuase i know if my best friend died i'd commit suicide.

I can't even believe that Mischa would want to leave a show with so many fans, and hey I wouldn't mind making $15 - $25,000 per show. I think that OC is going to start going down hill with no Ryan and Marissa. I can't see Ryan falling in love with anyone else as much as he did with her. Yes it's just a show, but still you have to please the public viewers, or the show will die, and everyone will be out of work. Think of it that way. Hey there still might be the chance of a coma right? We can all hope can't we.

Although I did cry in the end of this episode, I do have to say that i am eager and willing to know what will happen next season. I do wish however that she were still alive. Even though Ryan is technically meant to be the main character, i think that Marissa had the lead role in many things in season 3 which is the reason why i find it quite weird that she wont be there anymore. I know that most of us are hurting from the loss of Marissa, but as OC fans, we should still support it.

Why is Mischa coming off? i looked up to her soo much, i even met her, i got to talk to her, but she shouldnt come off. when she died, i cried, i cried soo much, it wasnt fuuny. My mom was like "wow are you ok?" and i was like "NO! these stupid people made mischa die!" Im very sensative towards death. SO in season 2 when caleb and trey both die i was like in miesery, but mischa?!? thats too much! what were they thinking? Mischa is one of the best people on the show, the producers are dorks to not want her on the show. When i met mischa she looked right into my eyes and i felt like i was on top of the world, i felt as if nothing could stop me, yes thats how much i love her, SHE IS THE REASON OC IS STILL SUCESSFUL! Marissa Cooper is the bst character on this show..and the stupid idea of making Kaitlin the main character on the show is mental! Marissa and Ryan belong TOGETHER and that can't happen when she's DEAD! BRING HER BACK! Mischa Barton is an amazing actress and we all know how much she enjoyed working on the o.c so y the hell wud she quit..she loves it for gods sake!!! Yh when trey, caleb and johnny died or got shot i was upset but when marissa and ryan had the car crash cos of dat stupid idiotic volchok i was devastated i cried for ages!!!
