It isn't yet confirmed, but Ben Affleck may play Captain Kirk in J.J. Abrams' new Star Trek movie.
But Star Trek fans are already angry about Ben Affleck taking up the role! Why?
It sees fans haven't yet forgotten Gigli! But Ben needs a new movie to pick him up! And he is good in space-action movies, so maybe he is a good choice after all! Why be angry ahead of time?

Speaking of. One of legendary directors NEEDS to step in and save the next Trek film from J.J. Abrams LACK of understanding how to direct movies.
He's a good television director but if you saw M.I.3. you know he's NOT a good film director.
This makes sense on so many levels. Kirk was always getting onto trouble not doing things as he should, he was more physical, he needed a steadying influence - Ben could protray someone like that. Kirk flew around the universe pouncing on females of any color or species - up until recently, so would Affleck. And who else coudl sit down and charmingly explain the rules of Fisbin than a Championship card player. All we need is to fit Matt Damon with pointy ears and we are all set to blast off. It would also be interesting to see how Kirk follows the Red Sox on Inter Galactic ESPN.
Ohhh Matt Damon with pointy ears!! Could he keep that wide mouth clamped shut long enough to look logical though? Ben Affleck with Jennifer Lopez as Uhura? Ouch Ouch Ouch. Let's ask Speilberg and Ron Howard! Post their emials wouldya?
For god sakes!! If Affleck goes anywhere near a ship's bridge in Star Trek I'll puke!! These truly are the end of days aren't they. Not to mention, Affleck is too old for the role. Shatner was 35ish when he filmed the first season of TOS, Affleck has got to be close to that now. Bad choice...bad bad choice. Get an unknown I say.
PLEASE FOR THE LOVE OF GOD SAY IT ISN'T SO!!! If he IS in this movie I won't go within 100 yards of ANY movie theater while it's in and will completely avoid it while it's sitting on the movie shelf getting dusty... I pray that this isn't how Star Trek is really going...
