It’s been reported that diva Mariah Carey is extremely angry with the producers of the Grammy Awards because they selected Madonna to open the ceremony instead of her.
Carey wanted to open the show with her choir-backed rendition of 'We Belong Together', but got very disappointed when she was told it wasn't going to happen…
It’s believed that the producers took into consideration that Madonna is a five-time Grammy winner, while Mariah Carey has only got two awards so far. Bottom line, Madonna will open the show tonight with an extravagant show, featuring animated British group Gorillaz.

Madonna isn't even nominated for a Grammy. And her music sucks lately, all techno noise. She can't sing. Mariah Carey has the hottest album out, top of the charts, she should open the show. That's just ridiculous.
Mariah can sing..but is boring as a performer. Live 8 anyone? Madonna was the best thing there and she knows how to put on a great show. Mariah simply isn't of the same caliber performance wise.
Please! How the hell is Mariah gonna have the nerve to think she's a diva?! She USED to sing until she got all full of herself. Now all her songs sound exactly the same and she shows up everywhere looking like a high dollar hooker. She needs to shut up, put on some clothes, and take notes from Madonna, a pioneer and a true diva.
Mariah has performed on every Award Show in 2005 and I'm tired of seeing her stand in one spot and sing... I'm looking for some entertainment here and Madonna is the person to book. period.

I never really was into Madonna, but I found her performance the most entertaining then anyone else who performed at the show. And man! I never realised how hot she was! MILF!!!!!! (Madonna.. u in my dreams tonight!)
Mariah-nominated for 8 grammys, currently has 5 grammys, wore a classy white dress and of course sounded on point-lyrically and vocally with "Fly Like a Bird", no one on the grammys came close.
Madonna-nominated for 0 grammys, currently has 5 grammys, wore a purple granny leotard and just talked out her lyrics. Her performance was a broadway show gone wrong. She looked more like a cartoon than her onstage counterparts did.
they are both very talented ladies whether you hate them or not you have to at least credit them with that. they're both very good singers but sing in completely different styles. if you think madge can't sing you should get "evita" out on dvd! she really showcases her voice in that.
however me thinks the two ladies need to stop behaving like 2 year olds and just get on with it
I didn't see the grammys this year, don't really care about a bunch of egomaniacs accepted awards for crap that they are overpayed to do in the first place. but, seeing little snippets of the Madonna performance has me eager for more.
I'm not a huge fan of the "multi-personality" Madonna, she changes her look like she changes her underwear. almost like she relies on it to get sales. I like a little bit of her original stuff, and some of the early 90s stuff.
As for Mariah I do like her songs a little better, her musicbox album is gold to me. I still don't believe that she can write the lyrics to those songs, she seems too much like a bubble head. I think she too is relying a little too much on looks, and sexy bedroom eyes" to make sales. even though her latest album is all the buzz, I thought it was dreadful and nothing like the stuff that I liked her for.
I think that it was weird to have Madonna perform, but it seemed cool, and was probably the best choice.

But in Europe she is nothing. Madonna sold with Confession on a Dancefloor already here in Europe more than 3 Mio copies, and Mariah with her MIMI album just under 1 Mio copies. And Madonna still rules the Charts with top Position across Europe until now, buy the way Mariah is very very long time out of any European Charts!!!

Mariah has got the greatest voice ever and no one has come close to her and her talent so please Mariah should of opened the show. my comment is that mariah is the better singer she as the voice and nothing or no one can take that away from her. she is the raining queen and no other female artis over power, thats just imposible. i love madonna but reality check mariah is much more outstanding in every thing. First and foremost to those who keep syaing Mariah can't perform, learn the difference bewteen a singer and a vocalist. Singers simply get words across, vocalist use thier voices as the principal instrument, For Mariah the vocal is the point period. With a voice that strong and technically pefect, she can't hop around the stage with background dancers and fluff like other artists rely on. She is a better singer period. With VOICE like her's she can wear whatever the hell she wants. You don't like it, then you learn to hit high note. Otherwisw keep you hoochie this and that to your damn self. Haters.

Mariah can be succesfull, but common people, Madonna is a real performance!!! The thing is not about Madonna not knowing how to sing, is about what style she develops the best and she doesn't sing R&B, so obviusly she is not going to sing like Mariah, is a totally different style.
Now, let's talk about succes. Mariah can have more top hits in America, but worlwide Madonna is way more famous, and none of the top hits of Mariah will be remembered when half of Madonna's hits are Classics, how many classics does Mariah have? Madonna's tour last year was clasified as the biggest tour of the year making more money that any other artist. Besides that I can say that we've had other artist like Mariah before such as Wintey Houston or Aretha Franklin, they had her same style, now How many Madonnas have we had, just the one and only MADONNA!!!
and to finish and state who rules the most... check for how much are the tickets of each artist on E Bay! Madonna's tickets are sold for much more that Mariah and that says a lot about the artist. Not having anything else to say...

This Madonna vs. Mariah stuff is just silly. I like them both. I even like Kylie, and Janet, and Britney. We can like them all. We don't have to chose one. I will finish by saying this- Mariah has an amazing voice and I think she's a very talented song writer- BUT Madonna has changed the face of music. She's a true Icon and will be remembered for what she's achieved.
