Nissan Rogue

The word rogue has a negative connotation, and when this term is applied to a vehicle, it won’t inspire confidence. However, it is a different matter with the new 2008 Nissan Rogue. Its name is an anti-thesis to what it can really do for you on the road. This Crossover Utility Vehicle (CUV) made its debut at the 2007 Detroit Motor Show and now it’s finally out for the market’s consumption. When you see the vehicle, you’ll be truly amazed by the stylishly modern and sporty make-up, living up to its name – Rogue.

When you come into the interior you’ll experience the coziness of the leather power-heated seats. It has a good sound system that can serve as your entertainment while cruising. The instrument panel is well-placed and can be viewed easily even in the dark because of its reddish-orange illumination. Even at first glance, you’ll see that the Rogue’s interior is really designed for comfort.

Indian based company Tata has recently purchased luxury UK based car manufacturers Jaguar and Land Rover from car giant Ford. After months of negotiations since June 2007 India’s biggest vehicle maker has paid $2.3 billion, almost half the figure Ford paid for the duo, to assume control of the two firms.

The purchase will allow Tata to expand its growth in the automobile market outside of India and gives it the power to compete at a higher level with international competitors. The take over is made intriguing by the contrast between Tata and Jaguar. Tata in January released the world’s cheapest car in the Nano, which was priced at $2,500, where as Jaguars starting price for the new XF is more than $64,000. The Hybrid product of this takeover is one of the most highly anticipated developments in the car industry and, as Tata have shown, one of the most unpredictable too.

Electric Nissan Denki Cube Concept

Among Nissan’s automobile line-up, its newly debuted Denki Cube is definitely different. And I don’t say that in a negative way. The Denki Cube really stands out from the rest because of its unique design. The design is the first thing that will make you want to take a closer at it. Compared to the vehicles we usually see these days, the Denki Cube is really squarish in design, well, hence the name Cube. It is also surrounded by glass windows making it cozy and charming to look at. It also has a glass roof giving passengers an excellent view of the sky when cruising around. And another amazing thing about the Nissan Denki Cube is that it is an electronically operated vehicle.

Honda Civic 2007

One of the leading automobile makers, Honda, is facing some problems regarding its popular and best-selling auto model the Honda Civic. The company is sending letters to Honda Civic owners all over Britain, alerting them of the problem with the handbrakes. But this problem is only limited to the Honda Civics that were manufactured in 2006 to 2007 in the factory located in South Marston, close to Swindon.

Hyundai Genesis Coupe

Hyundai’s Genesis Coupe is about to be released in this week’s New York motor show. If you will look back on last year you can probably recall the hubbub made about the new Hyundai Genesis platform. The first product that came out using this platform is the Hyundai Genesis Sedan which was unveiled at the Detroit auto show. And now Hyundai has come up with another, this time a coupe.

How would you like to have a talking car? If you haven’t thought about it, then you’d better do so because pretty soon a talking car will be a reality. This is not a joke or just a result of watching too much of Knight Rider. The Carsite project aims to bring more advanced technology into the automotive industry. This is being done so as to help older folks drive more safely on the streets. The Carsite project studies in-car speech messages to bring geographic data and give warning to the driver if there are hazards and traffic.

GMC Denali XT

GMC wows the world with the pickup truck that looks nothing like anything you’ve seen before. I’m talking about the new Denali XT Concept that on a front angle looks like a sedan, but if you see its profile, voila, it’s a pickup truck. The new Denali XT Concept is definitely one slick pickup as you can see from the roof that has been trimmed down by 8-inches lower than Honda’s Ridgeline. Although it is a pickup, the Denali XT does not offer the usual capacity for cargo, unlike the full-size pickup trucks out there. Because of its size, the Denali XT is dubbed by GMC as a compact truck.

mercedes sl 2009

Details of a new Mercedes SL made their way to the Internet a few weeks ago, but the car doesn’t make its official launch until March at the Geneva Motor Show, after which it goes directly into production.
The new SL isn’t but an improvement of the current SL, with additions of an updated steering and new engine range, in addition to an optional 'Intelligent Light System' and a very impressive face-lifted front and interior!
This next generation car comes in two AMG models; the SL 65 and SL63. The SL 65 will feature Mercedes' twin-turbo V12 — producing 612 horsepower — while the SL 63 uses a 6.3L V8 with 525 horsepower.

The 2009 Mercedes SL is only a model that comes in preparation for an all-new surprise model in 2011.

hummer hx

What’s beautiful about Hummer is that it’s a huge vehicle and looks like it’s going to devour all other cars on the road as it slides by! That’s what I love about it!
At the Detroit Motor show, Hummer displayed it’s smaller of its designs, which is none-the-less big, the Hummer HX. What a cutie it is! HX looks like something that could tread the surface of Mars happily!
The HX is supposed to be going head-to-head with the Jeep Wrangler.
What powers it is an E85-compatible 3.6-liter V6 unit that is combined with a six-speed automatic gearbox and four-wheel drive.

kia-burrego.jpg

KIA presented its biggest model yet, its new SUV Borrego, at the Detroit Motor Show.
The Borrego is set for sale in North America in 2008, but the rest of the world will know it as KIA Mohave.

This new SUV has space for seven passengers, yet isn’t too big! It’s just the right size and comes with a refined, comfortable interior and leather seats.

The car comes in two types of engines, one with a 3.6-liter V6 engine and the other with a 4.6-liter V8 engine. But, KIA is going to present a model fitted with a clean-diesel engine about a year after Borrego hits the market. So, you don’t have to worry much about gas prices!

Audi R8 Diesel

Audi unleashed its monstrous new R8 Diesel concept at the Detroit Motor Show. This is the world’s first supercar that runs on Diesel!
I use the words unleashed and monstrous because the car is truly an unbelievable strong vehicle. Only those two words can describe its capabilities and characteristics.
The Audi R8 Diesel is a melange of the diesel-powered R10 TDI and the R8 supercar.
Under a sleek, clear glass cover, it hides a powerful V12 6.0-litre twin-turbo engine, which can push the car from 0 to 100 kph in only 4.2 seconds! It’s top speed reaches 300 kph.
Its structure helps with the speed because it mainly combines lightweight aluminium panelling and an aluminium space frame, which helps keep weight to a minimum.

Toyota Venza

You may be wondering about the word ‘Crossover’ in the title ... well, I’ll get to that in a minute!
Toyota unveiled its newest design, The Venza, at the Detroit Motor Show.
The Venza isn’t your usual SUV, but it’s a combination of an SUV-like utility with the driving dynamics of a sports sedan ... hense the word Crossover!
This sexy vehicle is a four-door beauty that offers seating for five adults. It’s calculated height is perfect for better visibility and its overall ground clearance is less than on a typical crossover.
On the inside, The Venza is comfortable and spacious. Its console is easily reachable for both the driver and his front seat passenger. The console - by default - contains an MP3 storage compartment, a six-disc CD player and a multi-information display.

Since the main theme of Detroit Motor show this year is Going Green, car makers have presented models and concept cars that fit that theme. Less emissions, bio fuels and maybe the use of urban waste are essential for the future of car business!

Chrysler gives us three new models that are an insight to the future of motoring.

Jeep Renegade

The Jeep Renegade concept is a familiar design; along the lines of the Jeep Wrangler. Yet, there’s a sweet surprise that it hides... it can go 40 miles on its lithium-ion battery pack. That’s not all, for a longer ride, the Jeep is fitted with an advanced 1.5-litre BLUETEC diesel engine which extends the driving range to 400 miles! Cool, huh?

Mercedes ML

Detroit Motor show is a paradise for car-lovers ... even for those who aren’t so into the details, it’s interesting and overwhelming.

The show opened its doors this week and the theme this year is environmentally related; Green cars that reduce emission. With the problems of global warming that’s where the spotlight should be.

All car makers this year have been clear about working on clean diesel, hybrid and flex-fuel versions of their SUVs and trucks. That’s good news.

But the thing is, with rising fuel prices ... the demand on cars has gone down dramatically!
So, it’s going to be difficult job for carmakers and sellers in 2008!
