Are you ready for a new Volvo vehicle? The brand recently unveiled the stylish S60 sedan that will surely take your fancy! This new sedan is a worthy competitor to other well-known brands like the BMW 3 Series, Audi A4, and Mercedes-Benz C-Class.

This new model is so unlike the previous Volvo models as characterized by the more sculpted body, curvier headlights, broader shoulders, dramatic hood creases, and a more sophisticated look. The new S60 has a more aggressive styling that is sure to hit the right spot among the customers.

Aside from the impressive exterior, the new Volvo S60 sedan also boasts superb security. One of the advanced safety features of this vehicle is the Pedestrian Detection system. This technology allows the brakes to be automatically applied when it detects that there is a person crossing the road. This technology alone is a very big help already for the driver’s and pedestrian’s safety.

As of this time not much specific detail about the Volvo S60 model has been released. We can look more into this when it gets officially unveiled at the Geneva Motor Show in March.

Want to be “King of the Road?” You can’t do that if you don’t have the right mechanism. Curious what this mechanism is? It’s the 2010 Range Rover! It’s big, bad, and so much better than before!

This latest edition boasts superior performance but, with less fuel usage! Amazing, won’t you agree? Though it’s big, it’s not a fuel guzzler. Its 5.8-liter supercharged V8 petrol engine generates 510bhp and 461lb-ft. of torque.

However, unlike previous models, the 2010 Range Rover has improved fuel consumption by up to 7.3%. If you compare it with its predecessor you’ll notice the big improvement in power. But, despite that, the fuel economy is also noticeably higher. If you get this latest Sports Utility Vehicle (SUV) by Land Rover, for sure you won’t regret your choice if you want long-term fuel savings.

On top of that, the 2010 Range Rover also exudes aggressiveness that will make other vehicles take to the side of the road. Some of the superb exterior features include a redesigned grille, new wing vents, and modified tail lamps. This luxury SUV is also filled with new technologies like the simplified switchgear, Thin Film Transistor screen, five external camera lenses, and high-beam assist technology.

Better performance, improved fuel economy, less harmful emissions, and a more aggressive stance, what more could you want? It’s all in the 2010 Range Rover!

Although there are some that didn’t participate, the new creations that made their way to the show didn’t fail to awe car enthusiasts! The concept cars in particular were wowers! They’re totally wacky and out of this world! One is the Toyota FT-EV II concept that is electrically-powered and partly recharged by solar cells. It is operated by means of hand controls located in a bow-shaped apparatus. Other amazing creations from Toyota are the Lexus LFA and i-REAL.

Honda won’t let itself be left behind the race. Its vision of the cars for the future is the U3-X, which is a unicycle or as Honda calls it a “personal mobility device.” Aside from that Honda also has the EV-Monpal which looks like a scooter with a padded chair. The Skydeck minivan concept is another great design by Honda.

Subaru also unveiled eye-catching concept in the form of the Hybrid Tourer. Phiaro Group also participated in the event with its three-seater vehicle called the P70T CONCH. Yamaha Motor Corp. also unveiled the EC-f experimental electric vehicle.

The Frankfurt Auto Show is presently underway. I happened to be keeping track of the new cars presented there and I found one that you just have to see! It’s a very cute concept car! And I mean that literally. The Peugeot BB1 is a rare breed of a scooter and a car. Its maker even says that. “Its mother is a scooter and its father is a car.” Well, that’s really one way of putting it. This 2.5-meter long concept car displays its unusual characteristics in the form of the scooter-like handlebars and twist throttle. Due to this design, the Peugeot BB1 can seat up to 4 people.

This uber cute vehicle is constructed on a tube-framed chassis. Its body is made of carbon-fiber, so don’t wonder why it’s lightweight. At 600kg it’s so light compared to other standard vehicles. This 2-door car is also dominated by see-through glass, starting from the vertical windscreen that extends continuously up to the roof. And if you take a look at its profile, you can’t help but notice its unusual stance. The forward-leaning design makes it look like it’s always raring to go on adventures! I love it!

Peugeot basically designed the BB1 for city use. It’s an electric car with two electric motors inside it that can produce up to 20kW and 640Nm. Top speed for this baby is 90km/h.

Some will not consider the Peugeot BB1 as practical, but well, its cuteness more than makes up for it!

The ongoing recession isn’t going to stop Bentley Motors Ltd. from developing more luxurious vehicles to add to its line-up. We have proof of that fact as yesterday the auto maker unveiled its new brand carrier Mulsanne pronounced as mull-sahn. Maybe it really is that luxurious because it comes with an insane price tag — almost $300,000! The unveiling was done at the 2009 Pebble Beach Concours d’Elegance.

Bentley’s creation of the Mulsanne is not just a whim. This new grand tourer will replace will take the place of the soon-to-be-discontinued Arnage, which is considered to be the height of the ultra-luxury section. This car seems to be very luxurious indeed because according to reports, it will take about 40 hours just to complete its interior woodwork.

At this time, Bentley hasn’t revealed much of the specifications regarding the Mulsanne. But the company did say that it will be available in the mid-part of 2010. But based on the pictures released, Bentley’s new Mulsanne has huge round headlamps with smaller auxiliary lights beside them. The huge grille looks very capable of drawing cool air for keeping the engine temperature even. The body is also filled with chrome detailing that adds to its appeal. The exterior look and design of the Mulsanne is impressive. We just hope the interior will be faultless as well.

Have you checked out the latest with Nissan? This auto maker has unveiled what it claims to be the world’s first most affordable and zero-emission EV or Electric Vehicle. But, let’s face it, electric vehicles are already a number in the automotive market. So, what will make the upcoming Nissan Leaf better than the rest? For one thing, it has a streamlined and aerodynamic exterior. You won’t see a bad angle from the outside no matter how hard you look. See the headlights? The look awesome in their sharply slanting form and if you face the car, you’ll think it’s smiling at your with its small grille.

This hatchback has a very spacious interior, complete with creature comforts to make every drive an enjoyable one. When it comes out of production, the Leaf will have GPS system for driver support, information and entertainment. It will also provide data about the locations where the driver can recharge. Through it, an email can be sent to the driver notifying him about his car’s condition whether it’s already finished charging or what. Wow, talk about sophisticated!

Nissan’s statement about zero-emissions holds true since the Leaf doesn’t have an internal combustion engine or a tail pipe. According to Nissan, this car is fit for everyday use because it can travel up to 160 kilometers on a single charge of its lithium-ion batteries. It can also produce a max speed of 140 km/h.

Now you know what makes the Nissan Leaf different from the rest of the electronic vehicles of today.

What do you think of the Leaf?

We all know the various developments happening in the automotive industry today. We’ve heard about hybrids, hydrogen cars, and a lot more. But wait! Here’s something that’s totally new... a car that runs on chocolate with various vegetables making up its body! This is totally amazing and another first for the world. Called the WorldFirst Formula 3, this cute racing car was developed by British researchers at Warwick University.

Just because it’s said that this Formula 3 car runs on chocolate you can just dump huge blocks of Hersheys or Cadbury on its engine, that’s not how it actually works. Its engine is specially designed to process waste chocolates, turning them into biodiesel which power up the car. It’s amazing how the team of researchers were able to use carrots and other root vegetables for the steering wheel and still enable to meet race specifications. The seat is made of flax fiber and soybean oil. Based on this, the WorldFirst Formula 3 is the first car that really manifests a “green” car.

And you’d be wrong if you think this car won’t get anywhere. It can still generate an amazing 125mph when driven.

The team that developed Formula 3 hopes to raise awareness in the automotive industry that there are great possibilities in using sustainable technologies.

A car made of vegetables and runs on chocolates... awesome! I’m really impressed by this new “green” car. How about you?

The financial crisis isn’t over by a long shot. General Motors is really feeling the strain now maybe that’s the reason why it closed down the Pontiac brand. Yup, sad though it is, it’s time to bid Pontiac goodbye. Even if you are so fond of the brand there is really no other way but to accept the harsh fact.

To give a bit of tribute to the brand, let’s take a bit of time to look into its history. This brand didn’t bear the name Pontiac the first time it came into production. In 1907 it was born as the Oakland Car Co. In Pontiac, Michigan. It was later acquired by GM and the name was changed to Pontiac because its 1926 Pontiac model became so popular.

Maybe the modern generation can’t feel the impact of this brand’s passing. Only the older generation, those who grew up riding in the backseat of its GTOs, Bonnevilles, and Firebirds can really relate to the loss.

There won’t be any Pontiac around by the end of 2010 according to GM. So, if you love your Pontiac cherish it now for there won’t be another one like it soon.

A big percentage of people around the globe have an iPod. But for sure none of them have an AirPod. No, it’s not a phone or a music player. The AirPod is a vehicle that you’ve never seen or ride in before. This concept car developed by Moteur Development International is a very unique vehicle both in terms of design and mechanics. It fully runs on compressed air allowing for zero emissions.

As mentioned before, it also displays a unique design. By its name, this MDI vehicle actually looks like a pod with a round body made with much glass all around. The AirPod is a tiny two-seater with its case sitting stop three wheels! This makes me think of a trike instead of a car. But anyway, this MDi concept weighs 220 kg and can run at a range of 180-220 km at a top speed of 40mph. When power runs out, the carbon-fiber air tank can be refilled in just 90 seconds!

This new technology by MDI is protected by 50 international patents. The company sees a lot of potential in this new technology and it hopes other automakers will adopt said technology in the coming years.

Do you think you’ll like riding in the AirPod?

I attended my first car event this weekend! I'm happy to say it was a great experience and i enjoyed every minute of it!
The event was the pre-launching of three new cars from Porsche; the Cayman S, the Boxster S and the first ever Porsche Cayenne Diesel!
The event was held at The Golden Tulip hotel in the beautiful area of Gammarth in the Tunisian capitol Tunis.
The event was held by Porsche and the Tunisian company Ennakl.

I was amazed by the sleek and sexy designs of the Cayman S and the Boxster S.
But the real star of the show that day was the Cayenne Diesel, which is Porsche's new baby.
Some people were skeptic about putting a diesel engine in a Porsche, but the result is fantastic!
I took a test drive in the huge SUV, naturally, it wasn't me driving, but the French Rally champion Christian Lavieille.
I asked Mr. Lavieille what he thought of the Cayenne Diesel and he said he liked it because you don't hear the growling noise of the diesel engine (which is the same used in the Audi Q7) and the car emits much less CO2 than the petrol type.
This coming from a professional, means a lot!

Personally, i agree with Mr. Lavieille about the noise that was barely heard from the engine.
As for the design of the new Cayenne Diesel, it's the same as its sister the Cayenne petrol type.

It looks like BMW is out to set a new mark in the automotive industry with its new BMW Concept 5 Series Gran Turismo. BMW is creating a new category with the Gran Turismo. The company classifies it as a PAS or Progressive Activity Sedan. This new 4-door BMW is really a new category – it’s an executive car that sports a 5-series body and provides space just like in a 7-series. Confusing? BMW product and technology communications manager Tom Plucinsky clears things up, “This car is designed less for a specific market, but more for a customer who needs all the utility of an SUV, minivan or wagon, but would not want the association with those types of vehicles.”

The BMW Concept 5 Series Gran Turismo will debut next month at the Geneva Auto Show. Though it is tagged as a concept car, BMW says it is going to go into production, but there’s still no word as to when that will be.

Some of the great features of this new BMW Gran Turismo are the first-class seats, innovative two-way trunk opening, grille apart, and the dual round headlights with LED corona rings.

Because of the high prices of fuel these days, people could do without gas-guzzling cars!
Porsche is thus going where it has never gone before, to the realm of the Diesel!
In under a month, Porsche will unveil it's first Diesel; the 2010 Porsche Cayenne Diesel!
The fuel-efficient model will be on sale in March, in both Europe and The Middle East.

The Cayenne diesel will use a VW sourced engine; a 3.0-liter V6 turbodiesel, which makes it the smallest capacity Cayenne. So, does that make it the slowest Porsche yet?!
Porsche hasn't issued any performance figures yet, but what performance would be expected from a 4x4 Porsche that delivers 240 horsepower?

As for an environment friendly version of the Cayenne, Porsche is in fact working on a hybrid version which will be launched onto the market at the end of 2010.

I am a fan of old American cars. Simply put, I'd rather own a 86' Chevy pickup truck or a 65' Buick Skylark than a brand new anything!
Speaking of the 60's, the 65' Ford Mustang is a car like no other.

Wouldn’t you just love to take a drive in the 2010 Audi R8 5.2 FSI? The first thing I can say bout this car is a big WOW! It’s awesome. Every contour just shows excellent workmanship. The huge grille at the front, flanked by LED lights integrated in the slanting headlights. All its lights use LED lights for longer use.

It has wider side blades which enable the car to take in more air for keeping the engine cool. This car looks so aerodynamic that you can just imagine it speeding soundlessly along the tracks.

Performance is admirable in this new vehicle. The 5.2-liter FSI V10 within the carbon-look magnesium mount located in a lighted glass case behind the driver’s head produces 518 hp and 391 lb-ft of torque. This engine is matched with an R tronic six-speed single-clutch automated manual transmission. With these features combined, the 2010 Audi R8 5.2 FSI can take you to your destination in just a matter of minutes.

The 2010 Audi R8 5.2 FSI is definitely making waves right now. If my feeling is right, this could even be a threat to some Lamborghini and Porsche models.

What do you think of the new Audi R8?
