NADAguides.com’s recent list of the top economical vehicles (or used vehicles with the best fuel economy) was dominated by Hybrid vehicles that took the top three spot. The 2000 Honda Insight led the list with its impressive 70mpg highway fuel economy and 61mpg city fuel economy at a retail value of US$ 8,025. The next two top spots were occupied by the 2006 Toyota Prius and the 2006 Honda Civic Hybrid.
Meanwhile, gas-powered vehicles surprisingly ranked high in the list. The highest-ranked gas-powered vehicle is the 2004 Honda Civic with its excellent 51mpg-highway and 48mpg-city fuel economy. Volkswagen models take the next 5 spots to round up the top ten list. The Chevrolet Metro sneaks in with 48mpg-highway and 41mpg-city to complete the list. The best fuel economy for new vehicle goes to the Toyota Prius with its 51mpg-highway and 60mpg-city fuel economy record. This list shows the continuing importance of hybrid vehicles in the market although less of them are being produced now.
