The iconic MINI family just got bigger! Three new MINI models were launched at the ongoing 2007 North American International Auto Show in Detroit. New versions of the MINI Cooper and Cooper S were launched along with the brand new MINI Convertible Sidewalk. The new MINI Cooper S runs on a 1.6-liter turbocharged 4-cylinder engine squeezing 172 horsepower and 177 ft.-lb. of torque.
Meanwhile, the new generation MINI Cooper has been extended by about 3.6 inches, with a 1.6-liter naturally-aspirated 4-cylinder engine that produces 118 horsepower and 114 lb.-ft. of torque. But hogging the headlines is the new MINI Convertible Sidewalk – a car perfect for fun, open-air driving. These new models will surely beef up MINI’s sales in the US.
Ever since the MINI Convertible was launched in the US, it has already sold over 26,000 units. A total of 39,000 MINI units have been sold in the sixth year of the brand’s presence in the US.
