What's the secret connection between bread & shoes?!
I know, these might be the silliest two things to try and find a secret connection between!
Well, it seems you and me aren't creative enough to find such a connection and aren't smart enough or maybe too narrow minded to see how bread & shoes can be put together!
I give you ... Edible shoes made of bread!!! Don't squint your eyes, you've read correctly!

Yes! Designer brothers Remigijus and Egidijus Praspaliauskas -yup, I couldn't read their names properly either!- have come up with the ingenious idea of Bread Shoes!
The shoes come in a variety of dough recipes and sizes!
Naturally, they're edible ... but who's going to want to eat their shoes! Or let me put it in another way, who's going to want to wear bread in their feet?!?!

Oh! Oh! Here's the best part, each pair costs €22! And they come in a box!

Come on! This isn't creative! This is plain silly and stupid! Sorry Remigijus and Egidijus ... but really ... there's no point of the whole thing!
I wouldn't want to eat something I've put my foot in and I wouldn't want to pay €22 for a loaf of bread that looks like a shoe!

And one more thing, some people in this crazy world of ours aren't lucky enough to get their hands on a slice of bread and those two are making shoes out of it!?

Last night, Maj. Nidal Malik Hasan lost his cool, snapped and went on a killing rampage in the biggest army base in the world; Fort Hood in Texas.
Maj. Hasan is a psychiatrist who treated wounded soldiers who had returned from places like Iraq and Afghanistan. He himself was going to be shipped out to Iraq soon and that was his worst nightmare.
This might have been the reason for his actions that lead to 13 dead and 31 wounded.
But it seems that's not all.

Maj. Hasan, who is an American citizen and was born in Virginia, had been struggling with harassment from his colleagues; he is an Arab and a Muslim being the reason.
Someone keyed the word 'Allah' on his car last week and he reported it as a hate crime.

But he's not the first American soldier to go on such a rampage!
Back in May, Sgt. John Russell, went on a rampage at Camp Liberty in Iraq, killing five soldiers in an anti-stress clinic. In September 2008, Sgt. Joseph Bozicevich, murdered two superiors at a base south of Baghdad.
Suicide rates are on the rise among soldiers as well! Army suicides are up 37% since 2006, and the military rate is higher than the civilian rate.

So, I have a question, why does the headline in the Times Online emphasize that Maj. Hasan was a Muslim?

Is that the important issue in this story?
Were he from another religion, would the headline state that he's a Jew, a Christian or a Bhuddist? I don't think so!
For example, you would never see a headline like "Jewish Army Psychiatrist John Smith kills 13 in US Base Rampage" in a British or American newspaper. Impossible! It would simply say: "Army Psychiatrist John Smith kills 13 in US Base Rampage" ... so why the emphasis on "Muslim"? I'll tell you why, It's just another cheap shot at Muslims!

I just came across this mad story and thought I'd share it with you.
A German plastic surgeon performed about 8 to 10 operations on his wife to turn her into the girl of his dreams!
If you're wondering how the wife feels about going under the knife, she's totally OK with it and welcomed the idea with open arms!
The wife is now a truly transformed woman ... with every meaning of the word!

The doctor only married his wife after studying the potential of transforming her into the girl of his dreams! She was a perfect candidate and her structure was perfect for the changes he had in mind!
He put her under the knife many times; breast augmentation, thigh sculpting, face lift, eye reshaping, lip augmentation and in 5 years, he injected his wife with a whopping 1600 grams of Silicon!

The doctor wasn't shy to reveal that he only really fell in love with his wife after the operations, which cost him around $30.000!

The wife on the other hand, who used to work as a waitress and is now a model, is ecstatic and is extra happy with her new body.
She also says: "When your husband is a plastic surgeon, the knife is your friend!"
Wow! Wise words!

Rivalry will always be the moving force behind singers and stars.
X wants to be better and more famous than Y ... that's a simple equation ... don't you think so?
The latest two singers to bring their rivalry under the spotlight are Amal Hijazi and Darine Hadchiti.
After Darine claimed in an interview with Jaraz Magazine, that Amal cannot sing LIVE and hides behind playback at her concerts, Amal fired a few missiles on Darine!

Amal replied to those claims by simply saying: "Who is this Darine Hadchiti? I've never heard of her!" ... Ouch!

Amal also pointed out that she's always open to criticism but from those who are qualified to criticize, not someone who's barely known.

What do you think?
If you could choose between Amal and Darine, who would you pick?
If both singers were put into a scale, which would tip the scale to her side?

What is the future of Super Star 6?
This is a question that has grown bigger in the past few months because there has been no ads for casting, no promos and news at all on when it's going to start on Future TV as it's been in the past 5 years!

A few months ago, there was news that the show was going to start after Ramadan, but there was nothing! Then it was said that the show was returning in January or February of 2010.
Then there was a rumor that Future TV dropped the franchise and, Cactus, a Tunisian production company has bought it and will start a whole new show on a Tunisian satellite channel in 2010. Could this be true?

Have you heard anything on Super Star?

Would you watch a movie about prophet Mohammed if there was one? The thought might not have entered your mind yet but, you’d better start thinking about it because there is a plan to make a movie about him. The plan to make the Prophet Mohammed movie was announced at the closing of the Tribeca Film Festival on Sunday. And it seems that the plan is very solid indeed since the producer has been named already.

The producer is not just anybody. Does the name Barrie Osborne ring a bell? He is the one who produced ‘The Lord of the Rings” and “The Matrix.”

According to reports, the film will be financed by the Qatari media company Al Noor Holdings. Care to take a guess how much the allocated budget is? They are going to work on a $150 million budget! With a kind of budget, I think this film is going to be something to be reckoned with and definitely worth watching out for.

The film is going to depict the events in Prophet Mohammed’s life including the influence he made on others. Aside from that, this English language film also aims to “educate people about the true meaning of Islam.”

The 17th Damascus International Film Festival kicked off on Saturday night with an artistic performance followed by a screening of the Peruvian movie "The Milk of Sorrow" which won a Golden Bear at the Berlin International Film Festival 2009.
The irony of it all is that only two Syrian films, the only two produced this year, are part of the festival!

The festival also celebrates "Al Quds, Capital of Arab Culture 2009" with the screening of the most important Palestinian productions this year and a seminar about the history and status of Palestinian cinema.

Some of the famous Arab actors honored during the opening ceremony where Yusra, Khaled Taja and Amal Arafeh. Syrian director Najdat Anzour was also honored.

The festival ends on November 7th with the screening of the Chinese movie "Forever Enthralled".

Haifa Wehbe is an adventurous gal! She's a singer who wasn't afraid to try her luck in acting, in reality shows and now she's going to try her luck at hosting a TV show!
Haifa is going to be your host in an upcoming talent show for kids entitled 'Star Kids'.

Haifa has signed a deal with an Arab TV channel to host the show for $75.000 and will start working on the show after she returns from her French vacation with her businessman hubby.

Haifa wants to pursue her kids related adventures, especially after working on her latest kids album and the success of her latest song 'Baba Fen'.
Haifa's kids album 'Baby Haifa' is scheduled for a November release.

What do you think? Will Haifa succeed in the realm of TV show hosting?
Or maybe the more appropriate question is, is Haifa the perfect candidate for a kids TV show?

The Cairo International Film Festival kicks off next month on Nov. 10th in, where else, Cairo!
This time the festival is determined to attracted even more international stars and specifically Hollywood stars.
It's been announced that Salma Hayek, Samuel L. Jackson, Lucy Liu & Tom Berenger are going to be on the prestigious jury panel of the festival.

The stars will be judging the category of International Films.

This year, I hope the event is better organized than last year!
Remember, the horrid music and the kind of "not there" decor?
I wonder, was it a matter of budget? Or was there no fine craftsmanship? Or were there no ideas?!

I have my fingers crossed for this year, after all, this is the oldest running film festival in the Middle East and we wouldn't want it but to be the best!

What's the deal with young actresses these days? Some of them are proving to be so desperate that they're ready to take on any role in any movie to get back on the scene, even if it'll cost them their already questionable reputation!!!
Excuse me, but that's exactly how I feel about Ruby & Maria specifically!

Both Ruby and Maria are returning to the scene with roles in movies that discuss sexual problems such as sexual repression.
Ruby has decided to take this step after going into hiding for some time after her last movie 'Al Waad' which received lots of negative feedback especially for containing steamy bedroom scenes. What a smart move from Ruby!
This new movie is entitled 'Al Shawq' and is about a bunch of young people living in Alexandria and their everyday life and everyday problems such as unemployment and sexual repression.

As for Maria, she's been away from the music scene for some time as well and decides to make a memorable comeback with the movie 'Ahasees' or Feelings.
The movie is about Nour, a dancer/singer/something in a cabaret, who faces many pressures, especially sexual pressure, due to the nature of her job.
The movie also sheds light on the sexual problems of married couples.

Can't those two find decent roles to take on? Or have they not received any other offers?! In my point of view, if they want to gain back their fame, they should work hard on finding respectable roles to play, give 100% of their effort and take it step by step. The easy and fast way to fame will only lead to fast dissolving fame!

What's the deal with these movies? Is a storyline revolving around sex the only one that attracts young audiences these days? Are there no other problems that our society suffers from?!
In the past couple of years movies like 'Kubulat Masrouka' -Stolen Kisses- and 'Al Waad' -The Promise- are making their way just like important and respectable movies ... which is a shame!

Call me old fashioned or conservative, but that's how I feel and if more people start feeling the same way, such crappy movies won't make their way to the silver screen any more!
