Many have claimed that Egyptian Cinema is deteriorating and that the best way of returning the quality it one possessed is to go back to the ‘golden days’ and use the great stars of the day as a muse. And what better way to honor the amazing stars of the past than to produce a series documenting their lives? One of these stars being honored in this manner is Ismail Yasin in a series named ‘Abou Dehka Ginan’. For those who are unfamiliar with this great name, Ismail Yasin was one of the best comedians of all time

So you may have read my article about Turkish dramas before and as you may have gathered I’m not a big fan but this sudden surge of Noor related divorces is just outrageous. It seems that husband all over the Arab world –including Saudi Arabia- are divorcing their wives due to their uncanny obsessions with the character of Muhannad! You cannot blame the guy for being good looking and that I understand but then was it nessecary to bring this to the Arab world?!

Raya and Najla are busy bees! Today on MBC Scoop, they're going to give us exclusive interviews with some very famous stars.
Najla will be chatting with Nawal Zoghbi about her new album 'Samehtak Khalas' and will answer a few questions about the rumors of her marriage being on the rocks!
Najla will also put a spotlight on the Turkish series Noor and Sanawat al Dia3. She'll be taking us on a tour inside the studios where all the translation and doblaje/dubbing happens. We're sure bound to meet some of the famous Syrian actors who are behind the voices of characters like Noor, Mohannad, Dana and Anwar!

In the nest episode of Scoop on MBC1, both presenters Raya and Najla will be holding exclusive interviews with Arab and International stars.
Najla will kick off the episode with an interview with Pop star Ragheb Alamah, who will talk about his new album 'Baashaak' which has been delayed for a very long time.
She will also have a sit with Abdallah Balkher!

As for Raya, she's going to be talking to Will Smith about his latest movie Hancock.
As for her exclusive interview, it will be with Tom Cruise. she's going to ask him about his movie Lions for Lambs. Tom will also mention a bit about Katie Holmes and daughter Suri.

We have all heard of Asmahan or Amal ElAtrash who escaped Syria with her brother and arrived in Egypt trying to make it big in the capital of art, but what you may not have heard of is the new series being produced documenting Asmahan’s life! The cast –which includes Syrian actress Solaf Fawakhergy who plays Asmahan- are currently in Syria where Asmahan earlier days are being recreated, they will be traveling to Egypt soon to then recreate her rapid rise to fame.

Thing is its questionable whether series like this and the one created previously about Abdel Haleem are tributes to these legendary figures or tragedies that bring up controversial topics.

I’ve recently started watching ‘The Moment of Truth’ on MBC4 and was extremely disturbed at some of the events of the show. Every time the show ruins a marriage or rubs salt in the wounds of a dysfunctional family and it really does disgust me what people are willing to do for money. On one of the episode a woman admitted that she though her ex-boyfriend was the man she thinks she should be married to whilst her husband watched and then encouraged her to go on with the game.

If you're a fan of Nancy Ajram, then you'd love to know that she'll be making an appearance on MBC1 on Wednesday.
She'll be a special guest on the fashion TV show, Style with Aline.
The two girls will be talking about fashion and trends and about the ever-so-fresh new looks of Nancy Ajram.
Style cameras will follow Nancy 'exclusively' to the set of her latest video clip and reveal her newest new look!

Turkish series and movies are finding their way easily to the homes of Arab audiences across the Arab world.
If you're a fan of those Turkish production, you'll be happy to know that MBC1 will be airing Turkish movie this coming Friday, which by the way is Friday the 13th!
The movie is called 11:45 and is a tragic story of a girl who decides to run away from home after her parents plan her wedding to a man she doesn't love!

Ramadan is only a couple of months away and TV channels are getting ready with all their might to present a full package to the viewers!
Audiences across the Arab world gather around their TV sets after the Iftar to watch a few series on their favorite TV channels.
The first to announce that they've got two huge series to present is Future TV. They've announced that they've bought broadcasting rights to two Egyptian series; Sharaf Fathellbab and Heema!

Everyone likes to be appreciated, and to be honest we –the viewers- spend a lot of time and money on certain shows and technically we are the reason those shows ultimately succeed. So I think it is nice for someone to appreciate the viewers and ‘Rotana Express’ a new show on Rotana has done just that. Every month they pick a fan who has been most active in sending the show text messages etc and reward him with a medal and assortment of Rotana albums and a T-Shirt displaying the words ‘No. 1 Fan’.

If you're fans of the Syrian actor Tayem Hassan, like we at WALEG are, then you'll be happy to know that MBC1 is running a new Syrian TV series called 'Al Intithar' -The Waiting- starring Tayem Hassan and a bunch of other famous actors.
The series is about a group of people living in a random neighborhood in Damascus.
They've all got their lives and problems. As for Aboud, played by Tayem, he's a strange guy, a good one in his own way. He looks out for the youngsters in the neighborhood and does everything out of good intention.
He bumps into gangsters most of the time and is bound to deal with them when trying to help his fellow neighbors.

I’ve recently seen an increase in the attention being paid by Arab viewers and even TV stations to series and movies that originate from Turkey! This obviously includes ‘Noor’ and the upcoming movie ‘Aby Wa Ebny’ (My Father and My Son) which Topa Boyokostn will star in. I cannot help but wonder if this attention is positive or negative. As one of the stars of ‘Noor’ said presenting Turkish series in the Arab world is building a bridge between two cultures that are seemingly separated. But is this bridge feeding the Arab youth ‘bad’ information?

Star Academy Star Shatha Hassoun is going to try her luck in acting!
Shatha is currently getting ready to start shooting scenes from an upcoming TV series entitled 'Letters from a Dead man' and which is scheduled for Ramadan.
She will be acting alongside one of the biggest names in Egypt; Mahmoud Yassien!
The story is about a young girl from an Iraqi mother and Egyptian father, who works in a hospital in Egypt.
Fate has it that her father becomes her patient and dies in her arms!
There's more to the story though!
The father is a communist who is exiled to Germany after his wife accuses him of ratting out her brother!

Have you tuned in to Bashar Ghazawi's new TV show on Dubai TV?
The show is entitled 'Ghanili Shwai' -Sing a little- and is somewhat of a new take on singing talent shows.
This is the first Karaoke show of its kind and is quite simple, if you know the words to a certain song, then you're ready!
Bashar is the presenter of the show and each week will host 14 contestants who have to sing to the tunes!
Each week, the winner will win a good bundle of cash!
