Makali Wins Hizi Ya Nawaem 2

The final prime of Hizi Ya Nawaem brought many surprises with it!
The first was the guest, Toni Hanna! the second, the withdrawal of Syrian dancer Mona!
Mona decided to quit on the background of having some trouble and misunderstanding with Simone Asmar!
It's a pity that she left, because she was really one of the very good ones!
Hizi Ya Nawaem 2 - Semi Finals
Last Thursday, the remaining five dancers competed in Hizi Ya Nawaem's semi final prime.
Mona, Maya, Makali, Eleanor and Mariana tried to do their very best to gain as much marks as possible from the jury panel. Each dancer needed to guaranty that she wasn't the one leaving by the end of the night.
The girls has to undergo two tests this time, one choreographed and one improvised.
The guest of the night was Lebanese singer Pascal Mashaalani, who entertained the viewers with a couple of her songs.
Hizi Ya Nawaem 2 - Prime 7
Last week's Hizi Ya Nawaem prime saw the departure of Lizi from Estonia.
The theme of the prime was 'Dancing with accessories' and each girl had to pick an accessory to help her dance.
Lizi picked fans, which the judges thought didn't match the Bellydancing theme!
Eleanore picked a chair and gave a cabaret-style performance.
Mariana picked ribbons, with which she gave a beautiful performance, but the judges thought the ribbons distracted her a bit too much!
Hizi Ya Nawaem 2 - Prime 6
The subject of the sixth prime of Hizi Ya Nawaem was 'Modernized Belly dancing', which is Belly dancing with a modern twist! Obviously!
The seven remaining dancers kicked off the prime with a group dance, after which Lebanese singer Walid Tawfiq graced the stage with his presence.
The girls gave their solo performances and tried their best to impress the jury, which had Simone Asmar among them. It's one of those rare times he isn't behind the cameras!
After watching the seven girls, it was safe for me to say that Mona from Syria has really proven that she's the best, so far.
And as Nadira Assaf put it, she's the one that the rest of the contestants should be afraid of!
Hizi Ya Nawaem 2 - Prime 5
The 5th prime of Hizi Ya Nawaem was very interesting because the theme wasn't an easy one to perfect! The remaining 8 contestants had to show their skill in dancing the Saidi style with a baton!
The guest of the prime was Lady Madonna and she entertained the audience and the jury with a couple of her songs, a new duet with Bashir and a popular one entitled 'Wala Ya Saidi'.
The girls' performances varied and one even managed to surprise everyone including Mr. Simone Asmar!
Lebanese contestant Eleanor, was well into her solo performance when she decided to stop and discontinue her dance! The judges reaction wasn't what i had expected, they said she made a huge mistake but wanted to give her a second chance and will forgive her for her behavior!
Hizi Ya Nawaem 2 - Prime 4
The prime kicked off with a group dance -choreographed by Zaza Hassan- from the nine contestants.
The guest star of the night is Lebanese singer Tony Kiwan, who started off with his song 'Jannantina'.
The theme of the night was 'The Butterfly' and the girls tried their best to present beautiful dances that mimic butterflies in an oriental sense.
How did the girls do? Well, according to the comments of the judges, the best were Eleanor and Maya, while Lizi, Makali and Mona did good. Sara wasn't in total control of her solo performance and neither was Marianna.
As for Maha and Nora, they have progressed but still need lots of practice.
Hizi Ya Nawaem 2 - Prime 3
The third prime of Hizi Ya Nawaem is the first in which all 10 contestants perform.
The night kicked off with a group performance from the girls and then guest star Carole Saqr entertained the audience and the panel of judges with the first song if the night 'Sahhart 3youni'.
The judges always make sure not to be softies when it comes to giving marks and remarks about the performances of the girls.
As a summary, this is what the judges had to say about the girls:
Maya, Makali and Sara are good.
Mona and Eleanor are precise.
Nora and Alexandra aren't really what bellydancers should be!
Maha needs more practice.
Mariana has excellent leg moves.
Lizi is the best so far!

Final World Bellydance Championship Prime
Last night, viewers in the Arab World, got the chance to watch the final prime of World Bellydance Championship!
The final prime was a heated competition between the remaining four dancers, Estelle from Costa Rica, Rana from Lebanon, Laila from Ukraine and Fadwa from Morocco.
It was with Lebanese singer Assi Hillani that the show ended ... during the last prime, Assi performed some of his most popular songs and even danced the Dabkeh to the tunes of his song about the Arabic horse.
The most interesting part of the show was the face to face duel between Estelle and Rana and between Laila and Fadwa. the dancing was sort of a theatrical performance, which was very effective in showing the difference of talent from one dancer to the other.
World Bellydance Championship - Prime 8

Tonight and in the 8th prime of World Bellydance Championship, where the guest was Lebanese singer Aline Khalaf, the remaining 5 dancers had to compete hard and show that they were really on top of their game.
The contestants had to perform twice, the second being an improvised dance with the percussionists of the live band, something between the rhythm of the Arab Darbukka and the African beat. Totally not easy!
All in all, three of the five contestants did well; Estelle, Fadwa and Layla.
The other two, Sandra and Rana, were mediocre!
So, the unlucky dancer to leave before the 9th and final prime is Sandra from Syria.
Sorry Sandra! Hard Luck!
So, who will the lucky dancer to win the title and a whopping $50.000 be?
We'll find out next week! Same time, same place! Here on WALEG!
