Sabbah Abid on Rotana TV

Syrian actor and Union president Sabah Abid, has resigned from his position after a Rotana interview with Wafa Kilani on her show Dhid Al Tayar.
In the interview, Abid attacked many actors, director and singers!
He described singers like Haifa Wehbe and Maria and Jad Choueri as people who have nothing to do with art and music, but with Porn!
Abid also confirmed the suspension of the membership of some of the Syrian artist like Mayada Al Hinnawi and Geroge Wassouf in the union, because they haven't been paying their fees for the last couple of years!

tayem hassan

Syrian actor Tayem Hassan is now one of the most famous names in Arab TV series and some may even say he's bigger than Jamal Sulaiman too!
Tayem did an interview with Rotana magazine last months and revealed that he considers Sulaiman to be his mentor and he has huge respect for him. He also makes it clear that he hasn't stolen Sulaiman's fans!
You've seen Tayem in the trilogy about Alandalous, Saqr Quraish, Rabia Cordoba and Muluk Al Tawaef. He did a great job and left a lasting impression in the minds and hearts of viewers across the Arab world.
But what about his role in King Farouq last year? Who did that work for him?

al intithar

If you're fans of the Syrian actor Tayem Hassan, like we at WALEG are, then you'll be happy to know that MBC1 is running a new Syrian TV series called 'Al Intithar' -The Waiting- starring Tayem Hassan and a bunch of other famous actors.
The series is about a group of people living in a random neighborhood in Damascus.
They've all got their lives and problems. As for Aboud, played by Tayem, he's a strange guy, a good one in his own way. He looks out for the youngsters in the neighborhood and does everything out of good intention.
He bumps into gangsters most of the time and is bound to deal with them when trying to help his fellow neighbors.

Tayem Hassan and Elissa on Al Arrab TV show

Last Friday, two of the most famous faces in the Arab world got together for a special episode of Al Arrab on MBC1, Syrian actor Tayem Hassan and Lebanese singer Elissa.
Elissa kicked off the show with a medley of her popular songs; Law Tiarafu, Kerlmalak, Taa and Khud Balak Aali.
As for Tayem, he made sure to be present although he was feeling a bit under the weather.

Nishan presented the two stars with the usual Al Arrab rose, Elissa dedicated it to herself and her mom, while Tayem dedicated it to his wife and his two kids.

Elissa mentioned that she considers Lebanese actor and director Wasim Tabara as her Godfather, while Tayem considers Syrian director Hatem Ali as his Godfather.

Samer al Masri

Some of you may have read about the ‘Discover Syria’ rally last year where group of no less than two people take their cars and drive from one side of the country to the next experiencing the amazing culture of Syria. Well if you haven’t heard of it you sure will this year especially after ‘Bab El Hara’ star Samer Al Masri –aka El Akeed Abu Shhab- disclosed that he will be participating. First thing I thought was I didn’t know he was a rally driver, well he isn’t and seeing as which there is no ‘off-road’ driving you do not need to be a pro or have a rally car to participate.

Wael Sharaf

This week's picture is of Syrian actor Wael Sharaf, who is best known as Mutaz in the TV series Bab El Hara.

Syrian actor Tayem Hassan’s success as King Farouk this Ramadan meant that every major talk show ranging from ‘El Kahera El Youm’ to ‘El Beit Beytak’ wanted to interview him. Well during his interview on ‘El Kahera El Youm’ a Saudi Arabian lady called him up to say that she was so impressed by King Farouk from the series that she decided to perform Omra for him! Obviously, this turned on some red lights as King Farouk was accused of several things including propagating his ideas and endangering the security of Egypt at the time.

Photo-shopped pictures of Samer AlMasri

Those of you who frequent chat rooms that discuss ‘Bab El Hara’ will have seen photos of Syrian actor Samer Al Masri drinking alcohol and with several women. These photos provoked quite a scandal and Al Masri has come out and said that they are obviously Photo-shopped. He went on to say that not only was the lighting wrong in the pictures but also they show him wear a brand of watch that he never wears and a shirt that is only worn by members of the ‘lost’ youth!

You may have read my previous articles on Syrian actors and actresses taking part in Egyptian dramas this Ramadan. Many people argue that this was a great idea and that it showed unity between Arabs in the field of the Arts. However, one Syrian actor who says he does not want to be part of Egyptian dramas is Abbas Al Nouri! He says that he is like a Syrian plant that if removed from its place of growth could wilt and die. He says he belongs in Syria and on Syrian TV and that if he wants to grow he must do so in his own country.

Wael Sharaf

It's no secret that the most adored character in the popular tv series Bab El Hara 2 is Mutaz, the son of Abu Essam.
Mutaz is brought to life by Syrian actor Wael Sharaf.
This guy is still at the first few steps of his career and being in Bab El Hara has given him a good boost.
Wael chooses his roles carefully, he's been offered a few roles before Bab El Haraq, but saw them to be unfit for his character, but Mutaz was a role he couldn't refuse.
Wael mentioned in an interview with 'Laylak' magazine, that in a few weeks, shooting of the 3rd part of Bab El Hara will begin. All the cast and crew are excited about it.

What do you think of Wael Sharaf?
What do you think, is he as adorable in real life as he was in Bab El Hara?
