According to Ines Ligron the Miss Japan National Director, Miss Egypt has displayed less than queenly behaviour during the recent Miss Universe pageant. Ines has written the following in her blog...

"Gossip of the day:
Miss Egypt is a real pain in the neck; she slapped Riyo backstage when by mistake she stepped on her dress. Then she was horrified when she realized she just had slapped Miss Universe! LOL She was saying –“I am sorry I did not know that it was you!!”… Riyo told her: “it is okay, but you should not do that anyway to anyone, this is not really nice”. She was mortified.
Also she shares the room with is Canada and she smokes cigarettes after cigarettes and Miss Canada asked her kindly to pls go outside when she wishes to smoke. She turned around and said: “why? This is MY room?!” Nice girl indeed! Sometimes I wonder why this kind of girl bothers to come here..."

Ms Ligron did not state the kind of slap dealt to the current Miss Universe Riyo Mori by Miss Egypt Yara Naoum, but I gather it was not more than a slap to the shoulder due to frustration and a knee-jerk reaction, otherwise Yara would be sent home. True it was a rude and vulgar action, but given the stress these girls are under and the fact that Miss Egypt is there alone with no one to support her, did she deserve the "Sometimes I wonder why this kind of girl bothers to come here"?; We all know the catty behaviour that occurs backstage during these competitions, do you believe Miss Egypt was unfairly singled out?...

Good news for women living in Dubai! Dubai’s Roads and Transport Authority intends to launch a bus service that is exclusive for women. This is a positive action by the Transport Authority to the complaints filed in its office that bus drivers do not stop to pick up women passengers because there are no more seats available for women. It seems that in every bus that operate on the road, only twelve seats are allotted for women passengers. What?! That’s not even half of the total seats available in a bus!

Beatie the Pregnant Man

Perhaps one of the most spoken about weird and wacky events is the impregnation of a man. Of course at first it sounds a lot cooler than it actually is as the ‘man’ used to be a woman but had a semi-sex change (he kept his female reproductive organs)! Beatie the 34 year old father just delivered a beautiful and healthy baby girl and alongside him was his 46 year old wife Nancy!

Titanic Life Jacket

If you have money, would you waste it on a lifejacket that was made like almost a century ago? Granted that it is a lifejacket from the Titanic in 1912, still, what use would be it to you now? I heard on the news that a lifejacket from the Titanic was being put up for auction. And really, even though it’s already rotting, as you can see from the looks of it, it still fetched a handsome price. A woman who refused to identify herself paid $68,500 for the jacket at the auction held at Christie’s International in New York. Because the Titanic’ is almost at its 100th anniversary, all the things included in the auction were overpriced.

Amongst the many advancements occurring in the world today the development of robots to me is the most interesting. Simply because at this rate they will one day replace human in many sectors. We have been pretty behind in the Arab world when it comes to robotics, until now when Reem B was revealed to the world in Abu Dhabi. The robot that was developed in Abu Dhabi is a humanoid and is said to be one of the most advanced robots in the world.

What can it do? It can recognize faces and voices along with mapping out buildings and lasts for two hours on the installed battery- longer than any other robot in the world.

Obama Rally

Wondering what this question is all about?! Well, last Monday during the rally of Barack Obama in Detroit, two American Muslim women weren’t allowed to sit behind Obama simply because they were wearing head scarves!

I’m not going to go through this issue and say it’s discrimination and against Obama’s campaign which is supposedly committed to bringing Americans together… I just want to ask you what if these two women were simply Nuns wearing head scarves or let me say head covers, would they be allowed to sit behind Obama?

- Yes, they would be allowed!
- No, they would have treated them the same way.

same sex marriage
'Gay couples rush to get married in California' ... that is the main headline of the top stories on Yahoo today!!! How interesting is that?!

The biggest and most advanced civilization today is celebrating the first full day of same-sex marriages! I'm not against gays but when it comes to legalizing their marriage, I'm totally against that! Come on, you gotta see that it's so odd! These couples are living as if their relation is totally natural which it's not and they even are adopting children! ... A kid with two dads or two moms! How natural is that?!

What kind of civilization will the United States be in 10 or 20 years from now with hundreds of gay couples are getting married everyday?! Thank god according to a CBS news poll, most Americans still oppose gay marriage!

What do you think?

Many of us would like to think that if faced with the choice we would donate our organs to someone who needed them. But what if that someone was the Israeli Ambassador in Egypt Shalom Cohen? And what if in return for your organ you would receive 1 million E.P? Well the word on the streets is that the Israeli authorities have been secretly searching for a kidney donor for Mr Cohen after his recent illness but so far they have not managed to find a willing donor.

In Islam parents are encouraged to teach their children swimming, archery and horse riding and schools in Saudi are taking this idea and implementing it effectively. It all started with the ‘Open Day’ the Saudi government enforced on schools which is very much like an activities day for the students and each school has chosen to do something different with their students.

A specific school in Najran has chosen to teach the students archery and horse riding after a lots of enthusiasm from the students especially those who wants to serve their countries later on in life.

Katrina Kaif

I spoke recently about different cultures entering the Arab world and today I wish to share with you another story of a ‘foreign’ culture invading our world. Just recently Indian actress Katrina Kaif was stopped by Egyptian police when she was filming a scene at the Pyramids. The reason the police felt they had to interfere was because according to eye witnesses she was wearing a skirt so short you could hardly distinguish it from lingerie!

Each time I see an airship I can’t help remembering the historical Hindenburg zeppelin… and the tragic fate it suffered. But that was a long time ago; it’s now time to make a new start. Several companies, like Britain’s SkyCat and Germany’s Zeppelin NT are pushing forth with a new design of airships. With the new and advanced technologies today, the new airships being developed seem to be safer and more efficient. The new airships have a more aerodynamic design and are made of high-quality proprietary synthetic stronger steel. This composition is quite strategic so that even if helium happens to leak, it will not have immediate impact on the airship’s function.

What do you think of this stunning declaration!?

Is Kuwait defying Star Academy?
I might have heard the story wrong but word on the street is Kuwait is planning on banning Star Academy!
Listening to the news, I came across a report saying that Kuwait decided to ban Star Academy from coming to their hotels for the usual casting.
Their argument is that the show has bad principles and that's why they would make sure to exclude Kuwaiti citizens. I am not totally sure, but this is what I've heard.
What is your opinion? Do you think Kuwaitʼs decision is wrong because of the stars it has already produced like Bashar Al Shatti? Or do you think that this was the right decision because after all they are entitled to their own decisions?

haifa wehbe and tareq jaffali

Tareq Jaffali is a name we're all familiar with, not because he's a celebrity or anything, but because he was once Haifa Wehbe's fiancée!
Tareq was a Saudi business man, who got engaged to Haifa Wehbe a couple of years ago before breaking up with her over family troubles!
Well, we haven't heard much about Tareq in the past couple of years until last week, when it was reported that he'd suffered a heart attack and passed away while being in Cannes!
At first, it sounded like a rumor to me ...
