After Shereen had her baby she was criticized about her weight severely. Nearly every normal woman who has a baby sees an increase in weight and change in her body type, but even in Egypt celebrities apparently must be skinny. I personally though the pressure would not get to her and that eventually she will bring it all down with diet and exercise. I was wrong.

Recent reports have indicated that Shereen will be traveling to France in order to have surgery to help her lose weight. Shereen will be placing a band around her stomach to make her feel full more easily and hence help her lose weight.

When you are one of the best Arabic musicians in the world (if not the best) then you have to do something special when it comes to Ramadan especially if you make no public appearances throughout the month. Well, Amr Diab has conformed to this idea by creating his own Ramadan tent which is located in his castle. The tent is only for his closest friends and in it he offers them all the food and drink you could think of in addition to a flat screen TV so you don’t miss your favorite shows.

Let me start of by saying that I am one of Shereen’s biggest fans, but after listening to her latest 'sorry excuse for an album', I started to wonder if her baby pretty much ended her career. For those of you who didn’t buy ‘Batamenak’ let me tell you that it basically consists of 3 or 4 new songs and the rest of the CD has been filled with remixes of her old songs like ‘Mesh Betat El Kalam Da’. In addition to this the entire album has a very ‘sad’ theme as opposed to Shereen’s old albums where we saw a mix of boisterous energetic music and solemn songs.

There was a big deal a while ago in Hollywood about whether celebrity parents should ‘shield’ their children by not allowing any pictures of them to surface. It seems this leaked into the Arab world after a very angry response by Shereen to rumors that she wanted to give pictures of her daughter – Mariam - to the press but that her husband was stopping her! Shereen made it clear that if she wanted to she could release pictures of her baby girl with or without Mustapha’s – her husband - consent.

Have you seen the promo for Amr Mustafa's 2008 album on Mazzika and Zoom? The album is entitled '3alama fi Hayatak' or 'A Mark in your life' and is expected to be a great hit!
The album, which is set for release on 15th of June, is produced by Amr himself and he has also composed every single in the album!

There has been an ongoing battle with Angham and her now ex-husband and Kuwaiti produced Fahd and finally the Egyptian court of law has granted her a divorce. This occurred after several attempts to bring them back together all of which failed as Angham insisted it was in the best interest of her son Abdulrahman for her to get divorced. According to Angham her husband is jealous of her success especially after her last album which he composed several songs on.

I am sure the title excited many ladies who now want to know how they can buy one of the most popular young stars on the scene, Tamer Hosny. But all I can say is that as expected buying Tamer will not be a cheap task and the asking price is 11 million E.P! Nasr Mahrous who is the owner of ‘Free Music’ the company that for now Tamer is part of has indeed announced that he will be selling Tamer Hosny to any production company that is willing to pay him 11 million E.P in addition to whatever sum of money Tamer may request as well. We all know what this means: WAR!

Egyptian singer Jenny has been perceived as another one of those women who want to use their ‘moneymakers’ to get into the business as opposed to their voices! However, it seems there is someone out there who is threatening to kill her if she doesn’t marry him which apparently drove her to taking out a 1 million Euro life insurance policy! Jenny has confirmed this news and says that she believes in fate but has been considering the insurance for a while now! In addition to this Jenny has been apparently turning down lots of offers which concentrate more on seduction than singing and she is waiting for the right opportunity to once again expose her ‘talents’.

We all know that Amr Diab is one of the richest Arab celebrities… well, guess what, he’s going to get richer!
Mishwar Diab ‘Diab’s Journey’ is the name of an upcoming program or series about the life and career of Amr Diab. This program is going to show Diab’s life in detail, from his childhood until today.
It seems Amr is going to get paid a whopping one Million Dollars for this show … Ka-ching!

Ok, so I can see Ruby being many things: an actress, a housewife, even possibly religious. But Ruby being politically minded and using her art to display this? I never thought I would live to see the day! You must be wondering what I am blabbering about: Ruby is preparing for her new album that will come out in the summer and which will include a song entitled ‘El Shab El Araby’ (The Arab People). According to Ruby this is a song that speaks of all the trouble that the Arab world sees politically without attacking any specific political party.

The story of the press putting words in socialites’ mouths is an old and sad one and the latest victim is Egyptian singer Shereen Abdel Wahab. An interview recently surfaced which quoted Shereen as saying that Amr Diab did not deserve his last ‘Music Award’ and that his latest album is weak and mediocre! Obviously these are serious words and would have destroyed any professional relationship between the two artists and so it is no surprise that Shereen immediately picked up the phone to call her lawyer.

Former WAMA member Ahmed Fahmi is the epitome of a break out star, after deciding to work alone he did a tremendous job in the movie ‘Kaleeg Naema’ (Naema Bay). His new album did exceptionally well and he is now preparing to film the music video for another of his songs ‘Fee Kedah’ which he claims he chose due to its vibrant and fast tempo and that it is one of his fans favorite songs.

Partaking in adverts has become perhaps more essential than releasing new albums to some Arab singers these days. And it just so happens that the company that once adopted Nancy Ajram has released an invitation to the press to attend a press conference at which they will reveal who the new face of ‘Coca Cola’ will be. Usually this news wouldn’t receive as much attention if it hadn’t been for the word on the street that Tamer Hosny is the celebrity who ‘Coca Cola’ has signed on!
