Do You Believe in Destiny?

People have always contemplated about everything we go through in our lives; Is it written in stone, is it our fate and destiny, or is what we experience a mere reflection of what we do! The idea of destiny and fate have reigned our earth as long as anyone can remember; the Greeks believed in the Goddess ‘Fortuna’ who spun ‘The Wheel of Fortune’ making your luck, but they also believed you had a part in determining that luck.

Brains and the Sexes

male brain

We all heard that "women talk more than men" and "men don't listen". Well a US female psychiatrist, Dr Luan Brizendine who is a self confessed feminist, has written a book about the differences in the female and male brains. The findings in the book are based on the author's analysis of more than 1000 scientific studies, in it she claims that " There is no unisex brain. Girls arrive already wired as girls, and boys arrive already wired as boys. Their brains are what drive their impulses, values and their very reality".

What About the Web’s Future?

The developments in technology have made a great impact in people’s lifestyle. The internet for instance, with its momentous growth, has become a big part of the people’s daily lives. When you think about it, a lot of people are even becoming dependent on the web – students, businessmen and other sectors of the society. So with this fact, what would be the result if the information they obtain from the web are untrue?

Americans Admit to Re-Gifting

You must have done it before, or at least your mum has.
Re-gifting is a regular thing in the Middle East but according to a recent survey of 1,505 American adults, conducted by market research firm Harris Interactive, found that over half of the respondents admitted to "re-gifting" with passing on gifts becoming a far more common and acceptable phenomenon.

I think I first saw it on the hit comedy series ‘Seinfeld’! But I never thought it was this common.

The light shined through their eyes and gave them a reason and showed them their blessings so they could hang on their lives and do what they can with what they have...

Is Revenge ever Sweet?

Is Revenge ever Sweet?

As a red blooded female I've often fantasized about the possibility of planning and carrying out acts of sweet revenge, and then bathing in the glory of its success... and that's a very small possibility!
There are many acts and issues which can provoke an act of revenge such as cheating or marital affairs, deals related to money such as in gambling or unpaid and increasing debts etc. However, for one reason or another in marital affairs we usually associate revenge with something the gentle-sex tends to carry out, yet statistically in many major regions across Europe as well as the US the female is more likely to commit adultery...

Double life!

Have you ever felt that you have 2 lives? A life where you are a person and another one where you can act completely different. When you are with people, you act in a certain way but when you go to your room, alone, you transform to another person. Do you just consider that much the people around you and try to act in the way that they would love you? You may also sometimes feel like you are in a jail which is yourself. This is not necessarily a psychological disorder or can even be described as a disease but it is just the society that surrounds you that pushed you to act that way...

Are You a Pleasantville Citizen?

Pleasantville

On February 27th a movie called Pleasantville was on MBC 2, I never really watched this movie before, though it is not a new one!
The movie is about a sister and a brother, she only cares about making relations and sex and he cares for nothing but staying away from people's eyes watching the TV and his favorite black & white series Pleasantville. Pleasantville has always been the young man's escape from all the evil of the world. They met a man who gives them a remote control, when they pressed the buttons of this remote control they found themselves trapped as main characters in this black & white series...

Oh to Swap Gender... If Only For a Day!

Oh to Swap Gender... If Only For a Day!

It's a big battle being comfortable with who you are and how you look, especially during the more tender years where youngsters can easily succumb to certain influences. However, usually the bigger portion of our concern stems from the dissatisfaction of our physical appearance. And although as a girl it's easy to wish I was a 'different' girl (Cindy Crawford for me!!!), or could change certain features I simply spent too much time looking at, I did stray to the other side of the spectrum...to wander about boyhood. I've often complained about being a girl, but as I’ve grown and settled in the comfort of my own skin I’m more weary of the difficulties that face the opposite sex.

As a female, I remember looking through windows enviously at the noisy boys playing football and joking with laughs that echoed through the street displaying a freedom that at the time seemed to have no limits...

Worrying of Getting Old

I want to share my ideas and worries with you. I have extreme worries of getting old. This really started when I was 25. Now I am 28 and each year passed away my worries intensifies. Gibran, You Will Be Missed

Gibran Twaini

It's amazing how life can change so quickly, literally in a heartbeat. I look back and what i knew yesterday, i look at what i know today. I realize that life can turn 180 degrees in a second.

Today, Senetor Gibran Twaini was assasinated by a car bomb on his way to work. He arrived from Paris yesterday to see his infant twin girls, and the rest of his family in Lebanon. An innocent man of independence was killed because he preached what he believed in...

A Muslim Girl in Denmark

I've got the impression that many of us are living outside the Arabic countries. So therefore I would like to share some of my opinions with you about how it is to live in a country in Europe.
I live in Denmark, and I'm a Muslim girl who's 16-years old. I wear hijab, and sometimes it causes me trouble.

Once I was walking downtown in Copenhagen with a Danish friend, and all of a sudden a guy steps in front of me and spits me in my face and yells to me that I should go back where I come from. No surprise, I began to cry because it hurts to be humiliated in front of so many people...

Tipping in Restaurants

Tipping

These days, tipping is expected in most restaurants in the world unless you really did have bad service or bad food then no tip should be given.

Is it appreciated to leave a tip for the waiter that served you in a restaurant? Or you think you shouldn't pay a cent more than you have to and a tip is not necessary!

What do you think about tipping?

Gossip Can Be Fun

First, why are you on here, then? Second, why are you posting a comment? I think that one of the things that are cool about our country is that we are free to express our opinions about things. It may seem like we are all up in someone else's business and it may seem shallow and whatnot, but that is only on the surface. When you look a little bit deeper and take the celebrities out of the picture we are actually debating moral judgment, desire, value of family, and the value of contributions to society, loyalty love, etc... Which can all be applied to our own lives, we are just using two celebrities as a vehicle to discuss these things. And let’s face it, gossip can be fun! So lighten up!

Quotations For the Mind and Soul

Have you ever felt that everything around you is closing in on you … or that every glass you see is half empty?... Do you feel that life is treating you harshly … or that the small things you do are not appreciated any more? Fed up of doing everything and anything … or that it is too hard to love the tiny things around you? …
Reflect on the words that follow, and think about the truth …

Be glad of life, because it gives you the chance to love and to work and to play and to look up at the stars."
