Amal Hijazi is Getting Commercial

Amal Hijazi

• Amel Amal Hijazi is getting commercial as a Kuwaiti optical company is paying her $200,000 to shoot a contact lens commercial for the company. They were supposed to shoot it in Lebanon but as the political situation there isn't stable, they'll wait for a better time.

• Saudi businessman, Fahad Al Zahid, held a dinner in honor of Sabah where he awarded her with a big present for her continues contribution to the arts.

• Hamid Al Shairi has a new partner in song. A young Bosnian singer called "Dalinda" whom he met by chance at a music festival in Greece. She's now part of his song and video clip "Leah Ta'khoth Qalbi".

Marwa & Sex Appeal in her Video Clips

Marwa

• Lebanese singer Marwa rejects the fact that she uses sex appeal in her video clips and says she is an actress who studied art. She said that even though she makes some sexy moves in her clips but that doesn't make her solely dependant on them saying there is more to a video than just sex appeal.

• Noor Al Sharif has accepted to play the role of late writer Ihsan Abdel Qadoos in a new series written by Amira Abu Al Fatooh which is expected to go under production after the Eid.

• Director Nasser Mahroos is attempting to enroll Tamer Husni and Haithem Shaker who both served jail time in the same cell for forging military release papers in a new movie of his called "Al Fariq" or "The Team". He just has to wait for the boys to finish their army time.

Miriam Fares Compared to Shakira!

• Emirites artist Hussein Al Jusaimi and Nancy Ajram will appear together in a concert for the Eid in Bahrain on the 2/1/2007 which also happens to be the National day of Bahrain. This will be the second time the couple team up in a concert together after their concert in Abu Dhabi last Eid.

• Lebanese beauty Miriam Faris said she rejects the comparison made between her and Shakira saying they both have nothing fundamental in common. She said that maybe her video "Nadeeni" looked a bit like the Colombian star but each one had their own style and dance routine.

• LBC will exclusively be showing "Keef Al Hal" on the 30th of December. "Keef Al Hal" made the news as the fist full length Saudi movie with Saudi actors and actresses. The crew of the movie was recently awarded 9 Ford cars complementary of Price Al Waleed Bin Tala for their achievement for the kingdom’s cinema industry.

Michael Jackson is Going Religious

• Michael Jackson is going religious by singing three songs composed by Mohammed Raheem which Raheem said he had given the rights for. Raheem and Jackson signed a contract for the new songs which Raheem was chosen for composing from all the Arabic artists.

• Despite the news of actress Hanan Turk's divorce from her husband Khalid Khattab, it seems the divorce is not yet official, so Hanan's admirers shouldn't line up to marry her just yet. Khattab has recently said that they are indeed separated but not officially divorced!

• Famous Syrian star, Asala Nasri is waiting for her new unborn child from her husband director Tarik Al Aryan. Asala tried very hard to cover up her expanding belly by wearing loose clothes and staying away from jeans.

ArabSat & NileSat to Boost Their Relations

• The ArabSat network based in Saudi Arabia and NileSat based in Cairo have agreed to boost their relations by agreeing to increase cooperation between the two satellite TV providers in order to serve the interests of millions of Arab viewers.

• The famous Egyptian actress, Majida Al Khatib was admitted to hospital suffering from respiratory infection causing blood poisoning. She's to undergo surgery at Al Salam International Hospital.

• Egyptian actress Athar Al Hakim attended the seminar by Jackline Beste at the Cairo Film Festival and as soon as the seminar ended, she went up on stage and took a photo with her.

Insults Exchanging & Star Academy 4 in 5 Days

• Elissa announced that she will have nothing more to do with director Salem Al Turk who directed her song "Law Ta'rifo" because of her dissatisfaction with his work.

• Lebanese singers Danna and Maria have exchanged insults at a birthday party which they attended. It appears to come from mutual jealousy since it was Maria's feeling that Danna had more success under director Jad Chouiri than her.

• Hani Salama has assured his friends that the national censorship committee will not be omitting scenes of his new movie "Khiana Shariya" which the Azhar Mosque disagreed to.

• Only five days to go and the forth season of Star Academy 4 will begin on LBC TV. Will Pepsi or Nescafe (Nestle) be the sponsor of this year season as usual or will there be a new sponsor this year?!

• One of the most dangerous things facing the movie industry is global piracy especially in South America. This will be the center of discussion at the Cairo Film Festival today.

• Famous Egyptian actress Laila Alawi was chosen by the Dubai Film Festival from 10 other top Arabic actors and actresses to sit on the judging panel at the prestigious event.
The opening ceremony will witness some of the brightest stars from Indian cinema too.

City 7 & Josef Video Clip

- Egyptian Actor Hussein Fahmi apologized for his recent comments about women who wore the hijab as "disabled" saying that what he really meant was the hijab disables the actress from doing sports and other athletic activities.
Loool, I think he should have just shut up.

- There's a new TV channel in town! It's called City 7, transmits in English and based in Dubai. The new channel will have all sorts of programs and hopes to be one of the best out there! Its target is the 3 million English speaking residents in Dubai in addition to others in the Arab Gulf states.

- After a long wait, and even though some of his counterparts already beat him to it, Star Academy 3 winner Josef Attiya, will finally be releasing the video clip of his winning song "Lat Roohi" or "Don't Go."
Watch out for it!

Nancy's Director is an Actress & Miriam is Back

• The famous Lebanese singer Miriam Faris is back from her visit to Amman, Jordan where she sang some of her most popular songs at the 4-Seasons Hotel. She probably left early since President Bush is holding his meetings there today.

• The famous presenter Hala Sarhan was able to draw a hot confession from Tunisian actress Hind Sabri regarding her love life. Hind said she was living a beautiful romance and that she might get married very soon. Keep an eye out for this episode.

• Lebanese director Nadine Labki, famous for directing a video clip for Nancy Ajram, is participating in the Cairo Film Festival, not as a director but as an actress for her role in the Lebanese movie "Bosta" which will be the 3rd Lebanese movie to be screened at the festival.

• Many stars are expected to attend the Cairo Film Festival today from the Arab World and all over the globe. The festival is expected to draw widespread media coverage since the organizers have been preparing for the event for over 3 months.

• The Syrian singer Noura Rahal is preparing to release her new album "Dunyati Ahla" composed of 10 new songs, the main one is "Adi" which will be released this coming December.

• The director of the new movie set to be released soon staring the famous Lebanese singer Maya Nasri has changed it's title from "Black and White" to code 36. The movie will star Maya as an Aerobics instructor, she'll also be singing a couple of songs too.

Chief Correspondent of Al Jazeera Detained

• Hussein AbdulGhani, the chief correspondent of Al-Jazeera office in Egypt, has been detained as he tried to leave Egypt heading to Qatar on some business.
According to the Egyption government, AbdulGhani was detained becasue of Al-Jazeera's coverage of the Dahab explosions last April! They accuse Al-Jazeera of spreading false news & trying to make the Egyption government look bad infront of the world.

• The Arab Center for Youth elected Hussein Al Jasmi as the Ambassador of Arab Youth due to his constant support to them. He was handed his official duties in a huge ceremony on Thursday at the Ajyad Country Club.

• Ahmed Al Fishawi, son of Farook Al Fishawi married his bride Wisam in an American-Style wedding at his father's garden.

• Shwaikar as been regularly seeing a doctor as she complains of pains in her foot after being ill for a while. At the same time, she was the guest of honor at the remake of the play "My Fair Lady" which she performed in during the 60's with her late husband Foa'd Al Muhandis.

Wael Kfoury is in Toronto & Serine New Video Clip

• Wael Kfoury is in Toronto and will be touring Canada starting with Windsor today 23rd, then Toronto on the 24th, then Montreal on the 24th and finally Ottawa on 25th. After that he'll head back to Beirut only to prepare for even more concerts in Tunis on the 1st and 2nd of December.

• It seems that Nour Al Sharif is back with Bousy as they had been seen having Iftar together during Ramadan 7 times accompanied by their two daughters Mae and Sara. Bousy said that despite the divorce, they still maintain a good family relationship.

• Adel Imam won the award for best actor during the Sao Paulo International Film Festival in Brazil for his role in the movie "Imaret Yakbyan". That movie is considered to be the biggest movie in Egyptian cinema history costing $2.8M and making over $3.3M

• Lebanese singer Serine Abdel Nour is preparing to shoot her new video clip for her song "Alaik Iyooni" or "My Eyes Are on You" which is also the title of her latest album. At the same time, she's getting her new album in shape as she's got about 4-5 songs in the bag already.

Tash Ma Tash • Fans of Tash Ma Tash, the Saudi TV Series which has been a part of Ramadan for 14 years now are upset because several scenes were deleted and it seems that full episodes weren’t even broadcasted because of censorship!

• The first video clip of star academy 1 candidate Mira is released in Beirut, Mira first song is called ‘Wala Moumken’.

Hala Shiha • Egyptian actress Hala Shiha decided to retire from acting forever and she is currently attending religious lessons.

Cinderella • Lebanese singer Cinderella won the prize for the best Arabic video clip for her song ‘Sebat Elgram’ during the Festival of Arabic Video Clips Oscars which took place in Sharm Al Sheikh.

Eman Ayoub • Egyptian actress Eman Ayoub attempted suicide recently during the shooting of the new TV series ‘Nassr Alsamaa’! The reason why Eman tried to kill herself is that the series won’t be aired on TV during the month of Ramadan!!

Melissa • The first Album of Lebanese singer Melissa has been released, the album is called ‘Bedi Menak’. I didn’t type the name wrong, Melissa & not Elissa … she has the title of Miss Middle East 2004 and she is now a singer … Typical!

Layla Alawi • Egyptian actress Layla Alawi visited Lebanon recently to give tribute to the innocent people who were killed in the second massacre of Qana.

• Egyptian actress Hanan Turk is angry over the recent rumors that were circulating claiming that she intends to remove her Hijab; Hanan strongly denied the rumors and described them as lies.

• After Nancy Ajram, it’s Amal Hijazi’s turn in 'Ya Leil Ya Ein' TV Show that is broadcasted on LBC TV. Amal sangs 3 of her new songs: ‘ya baya3 alward’, ‘aman’ and ‘baheb no3 kalamak’.

• Balabak Festival in Lebanon will be back very soon with a concert for prominent Lebanese singer Fairuz.

• Prominent Syrian singer Mayada Al Hinawi accepted recently a film script that was offered to her in which she will play a role of an Artist.

• The management of Dubai International Film Festival has announced that the prizes of the festival will reach 1.2 Million AED.

• Haifa Wehbe will be holding a concert today in Carthage in Tunisia with the participation of Lebanese singer Fares Karam. On the other hand, famous Tunisian singer Saber Al Rubai will be holding again another concert in Carthage next Wednesday.

Darine Hadchiti • Two new video clips of Lebanese singer Darine Hadchiti will be aired soon on different satellite music channels like Mazzika and Melody Hits. Darine’s new video clips were recorded in Australia with the management of an international big team.

• Egyptian singer actress & belly dancer Dina is suffering from a disease and refused to say any statement to the press about this matter… Dina will be staying in hospital for a long time.

• Prominent Algerian singer Warda returned to acting after a long time through a new series that will be aired soon on Ramadan.

• After ‘Altajreba Aldenmarkiya’ and ‘ Tamn Dasta Achrar’, Lebanese singer Nicole Saba will be having a new role in a new Egyptian film called ‘Layali’.

• Jordan Short Film Festival starts today and it will be holding an international competition in addition to the Jordanian film competition.

• Lebanese singer Nawal AlZogbi trying to assure everyone that she is not responsible of releasing her new album ‘Yama Aloo’ during the last war …

• Kuwaiti singer Nabil Shoail just finished the recording of his new song ‘Lebanon Elsalam’. All the concerts that Nabil Shoail was going to hold in Beirut, Cairo and London were canceled and he also postponed the release of his new music album ‘Shoail 2006’.

Wama, Hind Sabri & Some Numbers

• Egyptian boy band Wama have finished working on their latest album, & have finished shooting a video clip for their new song Zay Ma Ba7lam –just like I dream-.Their album will hit the stores after the Eid Al Fitr after Ramadan.

• Actress Hind Sabri had a bit of a problem as she tried to travel to Tunisia from Egypt.
It seems she was detained at the Cairo Airport & the only one to rescue her was Egyptian actor Adel Imam. She called him & he sorted things out & Hind was allowed to board her plan to Tunisia.

Razan Al moghrabi • After ‘Harb Italia’ -The Italian War -, Razan Al moghrabi will be having a new role again with Egyptian actor Ahmed El-Sakka in a new movie called ‘Abbas Albayath’. The shooting of this movie will start on next September.

A Song for Peace in Different Languages

Lebanese singer Karina • Under the management of director Gilbert Al Ghabri, Lebanese singer Karina completed the recording of her new song ‘Alsalam’ –peace-. The lyrics of the song are in different languages; Arabic, English, French, Spanish, Armenian & Wuluf, the African Language of the country where Karina was born.
The song calls for peace, unity & the respect of human rights.

Egyptian Actor Fouad Al Mohandes • Egyptian Actor Fouad Al Mohandes got lucky after his villa got totally burned down because of an electrical malfunction in the house's air-conditioning system.
Luckily, one of his neighbors took him out of the house at the right time, just before any serious damages happen.

Haifa Wehbe • Saudi poet Samir Altea’r is asking for 1 million pounds from Lebanese singer Haifa Wehbe after she record a song called ‘gayart hayate’ … Samir announced in a Saudi newspaper that he wrote this song for Mayada Al Henawi in 1995 though he is not 100% sure that the lyrics of Haifa’s song are the same as the old one!

Miriam Fares • Lebanese singer Miriam Fares returned yesterday with her family to Lebanon after a month of absence and she will be holding a number of concerts in Egypt in which all the profits will be given to charities in Lebanon.

Columbian singer Shakira, who is also of Lebanese origin, has recently announced that she will be singing Fairuz’s famous song ‘Ateni Alnaya Wa Ghani’ – Give me the flute & sing –.
Shakira will be singing the famous song in Arabic & will also give it a re-mix.

There was a great hype about the last movie of late Egyptian actor Ahmad Zaki, Halim, about the life of the great Egyptian singer Abdel Halim Hafeth.
But it seems the hype was not in its place!
Young actor Haitham Ahmad Zaki is now in a state of depression after the movie turned out to be less than expected! There wasn't enough audience turn-out & their feedback wasn't as positive as expected.

Algerian Reem Al Ghazali is being threatened with a huge law suit by Lebanese channel LBC!
Reem seems to have blurted out all the behind the camera secrets of the reality TV show LBC Star Academy to some Algerian newspapers & magazines.
Reem accused the program's director of being biased towards Lebanese contestants & of accepting 'under the table' deals.
LBC has threatened Reem with a law suit & possibly jail if she didn't stop her accusations.

More Donations & Support to Lebanon

• Like many other Lebanese singers, Ragheb Alama canceled all his concerts this summer and he is now helping people in Lebanon by sending food, medicine and cash donations.
Ragheb Alama is now in the UAE while the rest of his family – his wife and children – are in France.

• Lebanese singer Elissa made two large donations to charity organization that provide aid to Lebanon and she also announced that she will be donating her first concert profits after the war is over to Lebanon.

• Syrian singer Asala’s new album has been released by Rotana Production Company after her attempt to postpone the release till the war in Lebanon is over failed. The new album is entitled ‘Hayati’ and resembles the journey of Asala personal life through words and music. Among the album songs, 1 is dedicated to Asala new husband Tareq and the others to her children.

Festivals & Concerts are Postponed

Hussein Aljasmi • Emarati singer Hussein Aljasmi announced that he won’t be participating in Carthage festival in Tunisia this year because of the current events in Lebanon.

• Egyptian Star Academy student Yasser, has fallen in love! Not in a video clip, but in real life.
His new love is the sister of Lebanese Star Academy 1 student Cynthia Karam, Joy.

vivian • It seems Star Academy 3 student Fadi Andraos has reached a dead end in his relationship with girlfriend Vivian! Fadi said during an interview that although he loves Vivian a lot, their relationship is going from bad to worse!

• The Tunisian government declared Sunday, Monday and Tuesday mourning days. In addition to that the Tunisian Ministry of Culture has postponed all the current festivals and concerts that are going to take place during these days.

Saddam hospitalized After Hunger Strike

• Saddam Hussein was hospitalized yesterday after 17 days of hunger strike and was fed through a tube to ensure he is healthy enough to continue with his trial as a verdict becomes close.
• Hezbollah representative in Iran warns that his group plans to widen its attacks on Israel until “no place” is safe for Israelis: “We are going to make Israel not safe for Israelis. There will be no place they are safe… You will see a new Middle East in the way of Hezbollah and Islam, not in the way of Rice and Israel” Hossein Safiadeen said.

Kathem Al-Saher • Iraqi singer Kathem Al-Saher donated 30 Million Iraqi Dinars ($18,000) to the Lebanese Embassy in Baghdad in support of the Lebanese people at their time of need.

Majda Al Roumi • Lebanese singer Majda Al Roumi refused to leave Lebanon, she said that she is spending her time these days like the rest of the Lebanese people waiting and visiting the schools in her region which welcomed lots of refugees from the south part.

• In light of the events in Lebanon, a private jet was waiting for Haifa Wehbe to take her out of the country.

Israel Targets More Civilians

• In the sixth days of Bombing, the death toll reached more than 165 civilians in Lebanon and 24 in Israel with more than 390 Lebanese wounded according to official sources.

• Lebanon's stock market has closed today and the country's economy lost more than $500 million, vanishing the earlier expected hopes of the Lebanese economy reaching an annual growth of 5% this year through the tourism sector.

• Several countries governments like the UK and France have already or started evacuating their citizens from Lebanon.

• George Bush is frustrated about UN Secretary General Kofi Annan stand about the current Israeli Lebanese conflict in which he believes a ceasefire by itself will resolve the conflict.

New Music Albums & Pepsi TV Ads

• According to lots of Maya fans, Maya has signed a contract with LBC TV and will be producing an Album soon. She has also done two Pepsi advertisements which are not released on TV yet!! By Zahra

Haifa’s Tour & Nancy’s $7 Million

• Egyptian actress Sharihan health condition is better and she is expected to return to work soon.

• Despite the highest record sales of Elissa’s new album in Virgin Mega stores around the Arab world, Elissa is facing troubles in some Arab countries like Egypt and Morocco; in Egypt she didn’t pay the required fees to the Egyptian Musician Association after she sang at a private wedding party… In Morocco, the two concerts she held in Casablanca weren’t very successful after a dramatic decrease of audience.

• Haifa Wehbe’s tour in the in the US and Canada will begin on the beginning of next month, and her first performance will be in Ottawa.

• Nancy Ajram was recently offered $7 million for a role in a new Egyptian television series called ‘Farouq Al Awal’. She will be having the role of Queen Nariman, the wife of late King Farouq.
