The final 8 contestants on Ameircan Idol did their best during last night's latin themed show.
In the presence of Jennifer Lopez, the contestants sang famous songs by Gloria Estefan, Santana, Julio Iglesias & Marc Anthony & Jennifer Lopez.
If you're wondering what Sanjaya chose to sing, he was the one to take on the stage with Julio Iglesias' 'Bessame Mucho'. The judges were united in saying that his performance wasn't bad.
But the best 2 performances of the night, in my opinion, were Blake's 'I Need to Know' by Marc Anthony & Jordin's 'Rhythm is Gonna Get You' by Gloria Estefan.

Gina Glocksen & Haley Scarnato stood on the stage as this week's bottom two singers ... You know that there are worst singers than those two girls on American Idol, but they got the lowest votes!
It's a surprise to see Gina Leave, when in the past few weeks it was Haley that was in danger!
But of coarse Simon Cowell wasn't surprised! But, neither was the audience ... Until Gina's name was pronounced! ...

Yesterday the contestants of American Idol 6 were performing in the presence of the legendary Tony Bennett.
Bennett was a breath of fresh air ... & his songs gave a certain atmosphere to the show that made it special.
It was interesting watching -& listening- to the contestants sing songs from their grandparents' time.
Chris Richardson sang “Don't Get Around Much Anymore”, & got positive comments from all 3 judges!
Jordin Sparksdid “On a Clear Day”, her performance was really good, but Simon said it wasn't hip, it was old fashioned!
LaKisha Jones did “Stormy Weather”, she got a compliment from Simon! He said her performance was sassy & great!

Wednesday's American Idol elimination show left Chris Sligh out of the game & 9 contestants competing for the title ... Yup! Sanjaya Malakar is still there.
It seems that was expected, especially after Simon Cowell called Sligh's performance of Police's Every Little Thing She Does Is Magic a 'mess'.
Others to get the next lowest number of votes this time were Haley Scarnato & Phil Stacey.
As for the controversial contestant Sanjaya Malakar, who is considered the weakest this season, is still there taking slow steps trying to reach as far as he can on this Idol road ... Maybe even to the finals!!

After last Tuesdays’ performance, once again the American is reduced by one contestant. If you guys have wanted to get rid of Sanjaya from this batch well no such luck I’m afraid. It’s Stephanie Edwards we say goodbye to this time. The judgment was to fall either for her or Chris R. but unfortunately host Ryan Seacrest tells Stephanie to go.

The top 11 put on a really great show last Tuesday on American Idol. Maybe it was the visit and advice given by Peter Noone and Lulu that brought it on. During the visit they gave the aspirants a good grip and feel of the music that went popular during the 60’s. Maybe it was that which inspired the 11. But the highlight of the night was the fan named Ashley. Think she was so touched by Sanjaya’s performance? Well no one can tell the deepest emotions we hold.

I guess there is nothing to wonder about as to why reality-based TV shows are a hit. American Idol for one is now on its 6th season indicating that this TV show has really gained a lot a lot of supporters, as they have done in the previous seasons that have produced performers who are on top of the top ranks now like Kelley Clarkson, Ruben Studdard, Fantasia, Carrie Underwood and Taylor Hicks.

She was just an ordinary contestant, until photos of her flooded the Internet ... If you're wondering ... They're the sort of racy photos that make a person infamous!
Antonella Barba became a phenomena ... She has captured the attention of web-surfers around the world; her name became a top search on the net.
But, yesterday, her American Idol journey ended, after the judges found her performance of Corinne Bailey Rae's "Put Your Records On" displeasing.
Simon Cowell said: "You've gone as far as you can go, Antonella. I don't think your voice is going to get any better."

American Idol wannabes will have to wait for three more weeks before they can finally show off their skills and talents and use their charm to impress the judges in the auditions. Producers of the hottest reality talent search on TV announce today that they will begin scouting for American Idol season six contestants in Los Angeles on August 8. From Los Angeles, they’ll go to San Antonio, Texas; East Rutherford, New Jersey; Birmingham, Alabama; Memphis, Tennessee; Minneapolis, Minnesota; and Seattle, Washington. Auditions will be until September 19, 2006.

Wednesday marked the end of the fifth season of American Idol.
Taylor Hicks the 29-year-old from Alabama, shouted: "I'm living the American dream" after Ryan Seacrest announced that Hicks is the winner.
The Idol finale show included stars Prince & Mary J. Blige.
Congratulations!

Yesterday American Idol's result show was great! It was down to the final three & their results were fantastic!
The voting came down to 33.68%, 33.26%, and 33.06% from a total of 50 million votes! Wow!
But the unlucky guy to get the 33.06 & go home was Virginia's 27-year-old Elliott Yamin.
Next week's final show will be a hot one where Taylor Hicks, 29, from Alabama and Katharine McPhee, 21, from California compete for the title of American Idol!

Well, being eliminated from American Idol isn't the end of the world for Chris Daughtry!
Multi-platinum rock band Fuel, has made Chris an offer he can't refuse. -but will refuse!-
Fuel has been looking for a lead singer for some time now, and when they saw & heard Chris, they found what they've been looking for, and have asked Chris to join them.
But according to sources, Chris can't really accept the offer for another year or two because he's on contract with American Idol.

It might have been a shock to a lot of people, including the rest of the remaining contestants, Elliott Yamin, Katharine McPhee and Taylor Hicks, because Chris Daughtry was the one to leave American Idol with the least votes yesterday.
The audience gasped and shouted no, host Ryan Seacrest asked a shell-shocked-looking Daughtry, "Surprised?" "A little bit," he answered.
Tuesday night, Daughtry's rendition of Elvis Presley's Suspicious Minds drew unanimous praise from the three judges, giving the impression that Chris would definitely move to the finals.
But it seems there is always a surprise in American Idol!

Wednesday night was the last night for Paris Bennett in this season of American Idol.
During the results show, Ryan Seacrest told Bennett that she had gotten the least number of votes & thus she was the one to leave next!
