We at Waleg wish you a very Happy Eid.
We want to take this occasion to thank all of you for your constant support and feedback, visiting our site and sharing your comments, news and photos with us. This is what makes us keep working on the site and soon we will be celebrating our 5th anniversary. It’s been 6 happy years since we posted our first article back in Feb 2004.
We would like also to thank our friend Soo Strange for all the newstips and photos that he has shared with us during the past few months and wish him all the best and that he’ll get well very soon.
And finally, we would like to thank the loyal friends of Waleg, especially Rachel, Silvana, Sarah, Masri, Aline, Shaza, Zeid and Ghada.

There are all kinds of speculations about whether or not Mona Zaki will be giving up on her acting career. Her dad recently passed away and so for a while she was mourning and her last major project was ‘Taymour W Shafeeka’! Some even said that she was so disturbed and distraught that she was seeing a therapist. The last straw came with her new series which she was completely in charge of called ‘Ahla Kalam’. The show is all about how religion and the world of cinema interact and how sometimes actors need God more than anyone.

In the Arab world today it seems like every household has a maid who dose the cleaning and the laundry and sometimes even the cooking. But is this a sign of laziness? Or just a sign that incomes are on the rise in the Arab world? Some large families with 3 or more children will experience problems because the mother cannot handle the household especially with old age. In this case maids seem like an indispensable necessity.

But the problem is that the children end up being attached to the maid who is in essence taking over the part of the mother! I’ve personally met families where each kid has his or her own maid, so what does the mother do? Spend her time with friends and shopping? Not saying mothers shouldn’t have lives, but they should put their children first!

Asmahan has been a very controversial series and now as it comes to an end, tension is building up even further! The man who originally wrote the series and who technically is the father of the idea has washed his hand of the entire production and does not want to be associated with it anymore! The reason for this is apparently the fact that his writing of the series went through several re-writes, once so it could comply with the demands of Syrian authorities, another was because the original was described as ‘too expensive’ in its budgetary demands.

For some odd reason Nancy Ajram has decided to keep her wedding secret and private! No one knows very much about it other than the fact that she has booked the a hotel in Beirut and Sursok Castle for two weddings instead of one. Although we know very little about the guest list we think that there is one wedding for family and friends and another for celebrity friends.

Noor Turkish star Songul Oden attended a charity iftar in Jordan at the Dunes Club. The proceedings from the iftar go towards a girl’s orphanage in Jordan and whilst Songul was there, she gave out presents to all of the girls. But of course attending the iftar were not just the orphans, Turkish drama series star automatically means a massive crowd. Everyone wanted to be around the star, but she gave her attention to the girls and made sure they were having a good time!

We all saw and loved Amal Bouchoucha on ‘Star Academy 5’ and when she left the Academy a lot of people feared that they may never see her again! But you will be pleased to know that Amal will be popping up once again on your TV screens at home but this time it will be through Rotana! She has signed a contract with the company ENDEMOL to present the ‘Top 20’ show on Rotana and should start filming the episodes within the next couple of weeks!

You may have heard about the purchase of the Manchester City football team by The Abu Dhabi United Group for Development. Well the board member Sulaiman Al Fahim, who brokered the deal, has a lot of controversy surrounding him. It appears that he has been photographed with several female celebrities who are known for their lack of clothing! Obviously this is greatly frowned upon and so Al Fahim has been moved to the sidelines until this issue is resolved and until things cool down.

This Ramadan we saw an amazing number of series and TV shows appearing on every channel you flick to. And whilst the number of shows was amazing, the quality was not. However, Kuwait recently held a festival to celebrate ‘the best’ of these TV programs over this Holy month. Haleema Boland took the ‘Best TV Host’ award for her show ‘Yabeela’ and the actual show won the ‘Best Game Show’ award!

Wafiq El Zaeem –who plays Abu Hatem on Bab el Hara 3- has spoken a little bit about the show this year with its ups and downs. He says that it’s difficult for the show to return with a fast paced plot right from the beginning especially when the main tragedy occurs after 15 episodes. However, he did manage to make it sound like the next couple of episodes are bound to be thrilling! He claims that they will include murder, kidnap, birth and grave digging!

A tragic event occurred around 15 days ago, Iraqi singer Majid Al Mohandes was in a terrible car accident in France. The injuries he sustained were all in the facial area and although he had been in a coma his condition is becoming more and more stable. After waking up from his coma he is feeling better but because of the procedure on his injured jaw he will not be able to talk for a while.
