Regardless of whether or not you agree that Haifa is beautiful and talented it is hard to deny that her appearance created a surge of girl attempting to copy her. The presence of Haifa ‘copies’ in the Arab world was expected but what was in no way foreseen was the presence of an Indian Haifa! The name of this Indian Haifa is: Rakhi Sawant. She is a beautiful Indian actress that looks like Haifa, acts like Haifa and is also seen as a sex symbol.

Recently Abdullah Bil Khair arrived in Dubai to film an episode of ‘Taratata’ and he was joined in this episode by several other artists including Shaban Abdel Raheem. After the episode was concluded, however, Bil Khair had an interesting announcement: he and ‘Shabola’ would be recording a duo together. Bil Khair added that he had requested that Shaban be a guest on ‘Taratata’ with him as well because he is a great fan of his style. Bil Khair honestly thinks that his duo with Shaban will receive an astounding welcome by listeners.

Recently a list with names of several Arab celebrities who had apparently been evading taxes was leaked by the Egyptian government to the press without the celebrities in questions consent! This lead to several of those on the list denying the accusations of tax evasion, but some seem to have taken it more seriously than others. Saber Al Rebai sent out an official statement to all newspapers that he describes as ‘respectable’ to say that he didn’t evade any taxes.

Britney Spears launched her new music album yesterday ... so did the Indonesian President!
Yup! You read right ... the Indonesian President released his debut album, which contains love ballads and a few religious songs.
The album, entitled "My Longing for You," contains 10 songs written by President Yudhoyono after he became president in 2004.
Being a president shouldn't stop the man from being himself, he says: "I took time in my busy schedule to express my feelings as an ordinary human being".
It takes the president between 1 and half to 2 hours to write a song. Wow! That's quick!
I wonder whose album is better, his or Britney's !?

Asala is preparing to film a video clip for her song ‘La Takhaf’ (Do Not Fear) from her new album ‘Sawaha Kalby’ (My Heart Did It). Asala says that she will be once again having her husband Tarek El Eryan directing the video clip for her after the immense success she saw when she worked with him in the past. Asala stressed that contrary to common ideas, her husband is not keeping her to himself and not allowing her to work with other directors. Asala claims that she feels that she has nothing to fear when working with Tarek and that had she found the ideas and the professionalism she found in Tarek with another director, she would have worked with him.

It was an interesting and intense week in the Fashion Academy. Some contestants were letting the pressure get to them to the extent that they wanted to drop out, only to find that after receiving some encouragement from family over the phone they changed their mind. The most significant event was on Sunday when world renowned designer Elie Saab announced the theme of the challenge for the week which was ‘The Red Carpet’!

You know that term ‘the past coming back to haunt you’, well, Egyptian star Mohamed Fouad will bear witness to the truth of that phrase. This is because three years later Egyptian courts have delayed his court date to the 31st December. This whole thing started when three years ago Fouad was signed up to go perform a concert in the USA. Obviously, as any normal budding artist would, he eagerly accepted and handed in his passports and the passports of all the members of his band to the American Embassy.

In the past Nancy Ajram made everyone angry when she was asked to perform in the Egyptian Opera House. It was argued that the Egyptian Opera House is and remains a symbol of classical ‘pure’ music and that Nancy was not experienced and up to the level of the Opera House. History is repeating itself as the moment Carole Samaha was chosen to sing at the ‘Arabian Music’ convection in the Egyptian Opera House. As soon as her name was announced critics, journalists and the general public were enraged.

Those of you who frequent chat rooms that discuss ‘Bab El Hara’ will have seen photos of Syrian actor Samer Al Masri drinking alcohol and with several women. These photos provoked quite a scandal and Al Masri has come out and said that they are obviously Photo-shopped. He went on to say that not only was the lighting wrong in the pictures but also they show him wear a brand of watch that he never wears and a shirt that is only worn by members of the ‘lost’ youth!
