"Omar", A Brave Step for Arab Drama
Ramadan is only a couple of weeks away, and as usual, 'tis the season to watch TV!
The series this year contain a couple truly worth watching! One that has surely caught my attention is "Omar".
"Omar" is a historic, epic-like series that sheds light on the life of one of the most famous characters of Islam, The second Calif Omar Ibn Al Khattab, who is also nicknamed "Al Farouq".
Omar was known for his justice, wisdom, mercy, leadership and heroism ... but he was also a man, and in this series we also get to see his life as a human being, just like you and me.
It is a brave and bold step of the production company, O3, the director Hatem Ali and writer Walid Saif to take on such a mission. It is not a piece of cake and it sure isn't easy in such times we are living ... if you get my drift!
"Omar" is considered the largest and most expensive drama produced in the history of TV in the Arab world.
The series is also going International, with offers already being accepted for translation to other languages including Turkish.
The series is already being translated into Turkish and will be broadcast this Ramadan on Turkish network ATV.
If you're as excited as I am to see "Omar" then you can tune in to MBC or Qatar TV this Ramadan.
