Finally An Oscar for An Arabic Movie?

Is this the year when finally an Arabic movie wins an Oscar?

This year, there's an array of movies that deserve an Oscar, one of which is definitely Nadine Labaki's "Hala' La Wein?"
The others include the Moroccan/Algerian movie "Omar Qatalani" and Egyptian movie "Al Shaouq".

If you haven't heard of "Omar Qatalani", it's a strong movie with a brave look at Justice and the judicial system. It is said that Justice is a blindfolded woman that is honest and chooses the guilty and the innocent conscientiously ... but the truth is otherwise! There is no blindfold and the choice is in many cases based on race, color or religion and not on truth and facts!

In the competition also is an Iranian movie, which critics say will top the others, entitled "A Separation". This movie is already being called the best foreign movie of the year!

So, what do you think?
Have you heard of any of the movies listed above?
Which one do you think deserves to win an Oscar this year?

Iranians are not Arabs, and "A Separation" is defenitely not an Arabic movie! Do you realize that calling Iranians, Arabs are one of the most insulting things you can do to them?

And the answer to your question is a no-brainer. Nothing this year deserves The Best Foreign Language Film Oscar more than "A Separation". Nothing can come even close to the amount of accolades and prizes it has gathered all around the world. And it's not only the best foreign language film of the year, but according to Metacritic.com it's the best film of the year in any genre.

I didn't mean to offend. I respect all nationalities. It's just a fact that most Iranians are annoyed when someone regards all Middle-Eastern people as Arabs. They just want their own nationality to be respected and known to the rest of the world.

You are right Iranians are NOT Arab. They should never deserve to be Arab anyways. Their reputation all over the world is unacceptable and if you ask any of them where they are from, they simply answer: Persian because they know people look down on them. You are not welcome in our beautiful community, go comment on an Iranian website.
