Royals or not, people can hardly wait for the wedding date of Prince William and Kate Middleton. And now, finally, April 29, 2011 is the BIG day!

Westminster Abbey in London will be the venue where many such royal weddings as well as funerals have been held. One such event is the funeral service for Princess Diana, William’s mother. I can still remember that one, it was such a sad day, even though I’m not British, I shared their sorrow. On the happier side, Queen Elizabeth II and Prince Philip were married there in 1947 as well as King George, her father in 1923.

The announcement by the royal family came out on Tuesday. As reported by Dailymail, it was publicized on the day to avoid overshadowing the five-day state visit to the Gulf by the Queen, Prince Philip and Prince Andrew.

Now, who’s going to foot the bill? According to People.com, palace sources have said that the royal family, especially, Prince Charles, will take charge of the expenses for the church services, music and parties, while security cost will be borne by British taxpayers!

One added bonus, though, is that it’s going to be a holiday. Yes, so more people can join in the festivities and share the occasion with the happy couple.
