Aseel & Khaled Open Up on MBC1

Remember the reality TV show "Newlyweds" that followed the everyday life of Jessica Simpson and her 'then' husband Nick Lachey? Well, now there's an Arabic version of the show that dives into the everyday lives of Aseel & Khaled!
The show, which is entitled "Heya wa Howa" and airs on MBC1, follows Saudi singer Aseel and her Bahraini husband Khaled as they live their lives and go through everyday stuff.
We get to see Aseel and Khaled at home, at work and at casual moments as they try to solve their problems, enjoy happy moments and relax together as a couple.
The first episode started with some action; as the ambulance rushed to the couples home after Aseel hurt her leg in the kitchen as she was cooking!
The second episode takes us through a few work-related incidents. Aseel, who's pursuing a career in singing, gets an interview with Platinum Records and Khaled, arrives at the MBC building for his first day on the job.
As for the third episode, Aseel and Khaled get into a fight after Platinum Records announce that Aseel is on board, but want her to get under the knife for a nose job!!!
Have you watched the show?
If you have, what do you think? Is it a success or is it boring and uninteresting?
Do you think there are some staged incidents in the show? Or is everything really happening in reality?
Would you agree to open up your life for a reality show on TV?

Aseel Omran released 2 albums with Rotana, not her fault but teh lack of promotion given by lovely production company Rotana. She must be in her early twentie's I think.
I think her sister used to have a show on Rotana and prolly get her contract from there.
She is a young and fresh person.
Now regarding the comments above, Really sad really...Khaleej is wonderful and just have to be surrounded by good people, but isn't it the same as everywhere. All khaleegi's are not the exact stereotype of what people likes to think, Most of my friend are from Khaleeg and trust me if I had any problem they will be there for me. Great people with good heart.
All american are not bad so neither all english people.
People are just lame soetimes on here
-
worst show ever. her life is pointless, they're trying to put as much as work into it to make her seem like she has something to do in life. shes annoying as hell and spoiled. a very unsuccessful little girl who seeks attention. and for her husband wallah god help him. lol who the hell are they to make a show that fails miserably? haha.
-
You do not have to "apologize" to anyone, as you speak your mind, sister. Besides, you're right ! Unfortunately, they have wasted so much money in Dubai - in order to make a replica of Las Vegas ! ... That is a unique example on a colossal scale of how the money alone is not enough to advance a society.
-
"I think you are an ugly p!g"....so i speak my mind, does that make it OK? if the only thing that matters is speaking our mind regardless of manners, and sensitivity, the world would be a horrible place to live in because there are things in this world that we disagree but we should still respect. i would like to say that if there is something bad in our mind about somebody, we should re-examine ourselves instead of degrading people. so be more "concerned" about how you treat people instead of so-called speaking your mind, give me a break!!!! and generalizing us khaleejis as sex predators and fanatics? no matter what we choose to believe, let us remember that there is no religion whose central tenet is hate. There is no God who condones degrading others. This much we know. you should remember what Islam teaches "Even as the fingers of the two hands are equal, so are human beings equal to one another. No one has any right, nor any preference to claim over another. You are brothers. (Final Sermon of Muhammad)" In Islam, there is a hadith that reads “None of you truly believes until he wishes for his brother what he wishes for himself.” so please Miss Concerned, if you wish to give advice, bear in mind of how it affects the humanity for no freedom of speeches in this world is worth the anguish it causes to others. that goes to you to Nadia.
-
this show is ugh...don't get what there is to watch....it seems scripted by the way....
see it would have been interesting if it was a reality show following succesfull stars...however they obviously don't need this kind of attention.
-
is there anywhere i can watch this show online?
thanks x

All right, what do you want: not speaking our mind and the hypocrisy, or speaking our mind and the blatency ? "Speking one's mind" is never taken literally, it is just reminder we should avoid bigotry, dishonesty, and should be best somewhere in the middle (in using the speech forms). Also, this to be applied at the right place - all your holly book quotations are misplaced, therefore. So, you got the wrong end of the stick. As for the Khaleeji sexsuality, it is enough to remember that the golf morality is in extreme, regarding women, and that generates the extreme outcomes too - it creates the male predators. Let this male have some money, and many khaleejis are wealthy, annd what do you get ? You get many of these creations of the opresive society traveling abroad, to other arab countries, and buying or forcing out the sexual favors. It does not imply all khaleejis are like that, but there is a patern of behavior, and people in other countries see that. The khaleejis are not giving money to their own poor, and if they do it in other countries it is often for the propaganda, and that makes other people even less inclined to like the wealth and the immage the khaleejis have created for themselves - with no wisdom that you are want to display with your quotations.
-
You people are still the same *sighs*
People like Nadia and concerned are so fucked up..
Stereotyping people and bashing from behind screen. The funny thing is that they are probably from a third world country as well but they are acting alll high and mighty..
I guess bashing other people that they *think* are worse than them makes them feel better about themselves.. pathetic right :)
-
you are the extreme one for painting a very cruel and unfair colour to all khaleejis. no my hadith quotations were not misplaced, it ask us to treat others as we wish to have upon us and to eliminate the notion that some are lesser than the other. yes i agree there are SOME khaleejis who commit excessiveness, SOME khaleejis who are thwarted in their morality and SOME khaleejis who commit crimes but so does others from other nations and to INSIST that we, all khaleejis should bear the burden of ridicule, of carrying the banner of SEXUAL PREDATORS, what kind of thinking and mischief are you trying to do? i wonder, why do you have such hate to us? and how preposterous to ascribe how khaleejis never give to the poor. do you even know me? i am a khaleeji. are you saying that i and my family have never given alms or benefited the poor? what an audacious atrocity!!! the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia has donated more than USD755 million to World Food Programme in one year alone. some USD411 million were donated to the Pakistan relief by KSA. The Emirates has donated USD1 million to Mauritania for a food programme and USD42million to the Palestinian Relief. google it up if you cannot believe this "horrible",sex maniac khalleji. and last part that you said really was proof of how nothing can appease you, that we give money only for propaganda. that itself shows the level of malice you carry in your heart for all those who are khaleeji. you made a STATEMENT of generalization, this is what i am against. i would certainly be irk and see red, even if you condemn the lebanese, syrians or any other nation. yes you can speak your mind but there should exist some sort of fairness and a little something we call non-prejudicial (no it is not hypocrisy if we learn to speak our mind with no elements of prejudice) . i wonder which country you are from and we will see if you accept the negative stereotyping that flies to your people. Stereotyping reflects lazy reporting. you will only make enemies.
-
and to address (finally) the article, it is not something that i would assume as a credit to khaleejis or any arab county for that matter. what happened to the saying "what goes behind close doors remains behind closed doors...."?
-
I would not bother to respond to a vulgar kid like you except for one thing: right, we are "behind the screen" and I'm sorry for that, as we do not have the opportunity to meet face to face in some public forum and see what you have to say then. (Try not to read other comments and write your own stereotypically in the first place.)
-
Thank you for the elaborate response. I am from Al Shaam, and have some friends from the Khaleej who are pretty reasonable people and well informed. So, I can get the first hand info; besides, I can see the things on my own. All the details about the donations are correct - have read about it myself. However, the picture is not that rosy in all aspects. Apparently, the khaleeji poor have been abandoned by their governments. I did not mean you as a person, as such and such, nor I was generalizing and "attacking" all of the Gulf. Some level of generalizing, though, is always needed when some patterns appear. About the "hate" you are totally wrong: one of the best people I have met, was an old man from Qatar (a grandpa of a friend), of a generation of people that is disappearing in these times. i am thinking what to tell you more so you do not think either Nadia or I are such idiots who have nothing else to do but to hate and over-generalize ... Perhaps you might accept the truth is always somewhere in the middle (?) The image of some countries does not come from nowhere, right ? You are also right, that all what was stated in just a few lines may appear excessive (but, that's how these forums are, made for the punch-liners.) Hope, you do not feel too bad (as I am sure you are a patriot in your own right).
-
Concerned..So you are from alsham..
I knew it was someone fucked up from another poor third world country after all *sighs
Anyway, don't feel bad..I wasn't stereotyping.. I was just following your advice and practicing my own freedom of speech LOL
-
Have told you, do not care for the morons (from the US, like you).
-
Yeah yeah! You don't care and that's why you keep replying..
LOL
Anyway, I'm done here ;)

As a matter of fact i really enjoy watching this show...n all these comment up here maaaan....take it easy ya 3azeezi...why so up tight guys?
-
I don't know...i think it's fake for some reason
like when he went out with his friends while his wife is away for her brother's wedding, same time they had to do a sketch about women's jealousy or whatever it's called..then all of the sudden she comes home earlier than expected, the way he acted as if he's surprised for her to be there early, then they were sitting down waiting for food, and someone knocks on the door she said "the food is here already?"...i don't know it seems fake to me.
another thing, if it was only men's night, he was so eager to enjoy, why would his friend bring his fiance AND HER FRIENDS with him? just to make up a problem.
one last thing
aceel's sister is lujen 3mran, the one who present in 9ba7 il 5er ya 3arab, akeed fe wa96a in order for her and her husband khalid to be working on MBC.
FAKE, FAKE, FAKE
-
they are acting alright so fake and i want to know the point of the show since they are not cleberities really and they are acting its like a cheap soap opera
-
shame on you dog of arab tototoottototof alikom
-
LMAO!!! come onn we all know the show is a big fail! i just had to laugh so much, the acting is so fake, they just don't know how to act and who are they? i never heard of them
khaleej people really have nothing to do but copy american media, eat and of course perform plastic surgery :P
haha
-
to jason
khaleeji aren't the only ones that perform plastic surgeries
did you forget alissa, nancy 3jrm, you know what i'm not gonna bother listing them because they're just too many
so don't make fun, i've got a lebenese friend who went there just to get her lips look like alissa.
as for the couple you don't need to know them, mbc is a khaleeji channle and they can show whatever they want to.
the only thing i agree with you is the show being fake that's all
-
I wonder if the MBC is only the khaleeji. It started as a pan-arab satelite 24-hour channel that was broadcasting from London, UK, and several years ago moved to Dubai. The company is privately owned by the shareholders, but, the rumor is, who has enough money to keep it running - except the saudi family ... So, if they have the main stake in the company, yes, it could be called the khaleeji TV. You are probably right on that; but I would rather agree with the other comment(s) that the khaleejis are the copycats of everything anglo-saxon or american. This is one of these poor attempts, and - a total failure !
-
I agree that all countries have women (men) who undego plastic surgery although I have never in my life seen people do it the way khaleej people use it
They have literally killed plastic surgery, I don't watch their series and try not to watch any of their programmes because they look SCARY! I am a guy and because of their plastic surgery I don't believe in beauty in khaleej, that would be impossible they look like men with pounds of makeup
I also have to agree on the other comments that they do indeed tend to copy american trends which is a big fail!
-
FAIL!
-
First of all Aseel is a 10 year old girl inside 20 year body. She needs to go back to her parents’ home to be raised again. We just saw an episode where they got a pet… a dog! Are these guys real Muslims, do they know they cannot keep a dog at home? Or is it trying to be like Paris Hilton worth going against your religion. And how about the silly touching and fondling? And what is really the point of the show? I have seen it maybe 2 or 3 times and not full just as I am changing channels but I am hoping and praying that the show will be cancelled inshallah ya rab! The acting is so fake that a 5 year old will know it is not a "reality show", it is a nightmare! Please MBC let this be the first and last season.
-
i do not have the intention to apologize, brother. i still maintain that most khaleejis (men of course) behave in a disgusting way. we can start by the saudi prince who raped and killed his servant. it is not an isolated case. kahleejis are fond of these practices. this case has been revealed because it happened in a western city but they do the same things and even worse in every arab city they visit. arab media do not talk about it because they own most of it. they are the ones who rape yemeni and egyptian kids, they are the ones who publish fake job adds to force arab and indian women to prostitute themselves. they are the ones who do not even know to write their names (everyone in the arab world knows that khaleejis are the less educated arabs, that without those educated persons from syria, palestine ans egypt they would still be riding camels). to those who said that syria and the rest of arab countries are third world i say khaleej is not the west, it is not part of the first world, that khaleejis cannot leave, would'nt leave without foreigners who work in their schools, universities, work in their hospitals, take care of their wives, kids and gardens, build their houses and roads. khaleejis simply know nothing, do not do anything useful, they even don't have a national culture like all arabs. can you name a single important khalleji poet, novelist, cinema producer?! a recent poll showed that saoudis are the most people fond in the world of porno sites. that's the level of their culture. i've seen th way they behave not only in arab cities but also in the west. for them, all young women are whores who will do anything to entertain them because they think people envy them for their money. those who stick to them are like them. it doesn't concern all arabs. we cultivated arabs despise them and their money.
-
u totaly wrong... Dearest nadia..money iz e.thing if u ddnt nw dat..anyaway..here we want da comments about da show n not u dam fack pointeles of ada people...
-
Thanks for expending your initial comment. The khaleejis abroad are indeed the most unpleasant bunch one can meet, be it in the UK, or Syria or Egypt. I especially blame them for creating the rings of prostitution in Syria for their clients, the sex tourists from the khaleej, and the exploitation of the mostly iraqi women and young girls. I do not feel like defending the khaleejis at all, but it may be worth noticing that in a way they have been unfortunate. First, they had that fanatical cleric Abd al Wahhab who used the moment of creation of the first saudi kingdom to establish himself as the reformist, which was just two hundred years ago. I am only sorry that eventually the kingdom of the nomadic tribes managed to conquer Hejaz. This is when the kingdom got the first cities, but as the Hejaz is not in the khaleej it is valid to say that the khaleej stayed without any cities and city cultures after that unchanged. With the discovery of oil 50 years ago the first cities started developing and the americans came along with their might and the ideas. Because of oil, the wealth started falling from the sky. So, it is perhaps natural what happened, when you have a combination of the repression at home (especially of women), and a lot of means that you cannot use at home: they can abuse it abroad. This, of course, does not justify their behavior and they should better stay home, otherwise, until they get civilized it may create some backlash in other countries as the population becomes more aware of what comes together with the khaleeji money.
Regarding the show: it is not unexpected that a region that does not have its own culture is relying on what they know best, that is, the american approach. If judged this way, the production is excelent - as a good traditional american soap opera. Americans themselves could not have done it better. Therefore, all thumbs up for the american khaleej production !

Disgusting at the majority of the comments especially by Nadia and Concerned. Why is it most of the Arabs on Waleg seem to focus all their energies to demoralize and degrade other Arabs?
If the topic is about a Lebanese, comments about plastic surgeries and self loving will arise. If the topic is about Egyptians, comments about crimes, poverty and Fifi Abdu will arise. If the topic is about Khaleeji, comments about money and oppression will arise. Until when? Why do you focus on the negative issues that do not even represent the country as a whole? Why can't you talk about something that could bring harmony among the Arabs? It is people like nadia and Concerned and many more Waleg readers that make the Arab nation so weak.
I am half Arab on my father's side. But it disgusts me to see how resentful some of my Arab brothers and sisters are.If you think for one second that you have the rights to degrade a whole nation, you are pathetic. I was drawn to Waleg by the slogan Gateway to Arab Pop Culture etc...If bickering about which Arab is the best or the worst is the Arab culture, i want no part in it.But, I know that there are many many many Arabs who are wholesome and better than the ones here.
To Concerned, do not call yourself civilized because civilized people do not degrade other people.
To nadia, you are a very horrible person and you are the same as the people you hate. Those disgusting male chauvinists(not khaleeji specifically) think they have the right to kick people around with their money and you think you have the rights to bring an entire nation down just because you have access to a computer.I have met many nice Khaleejis who welcome me into their homes. Not only are they rich in materials, they are rich in hospitality and morals.I have been to Egypt many times and the people are welcoming and warm.About Lebanese,I have one friend and she is very different from the stereotypes I have always heard but have always disbelieved.I hate to think any of these lovely wonderful people being verbally hurt by people like nadia with her narrow minded thinking.
To hateful people, you need to get your own issues straight and just because you can type, it doesn't mean you have the rights to degrade others, Pathetic!
-
I agree with you. Some people are born to hate. How can people generalize with a little bit of knowledge they have. I mean i'm sure that Nadia and Concerned don't know all 'khalijis' but they bashed all of them. I'm not an arab but when I read this kind of hateful comments I feel sick to my stomach. SHAME ON YOU NADIA AND CONCERNED.
-
yes thank you for you're comment but you know not impressed and nadia are a nazy people. not impressed hate muslims so he probably arab and christian and nadia have some khaleeji neighbor live with her so that is why she want them disappear and she stay few days and come back to waleg site to see who agree with her
yes agree with outsider shame on her and that j*rk concerned aka not impressed
-
Some of your basics are right, and some are wrong. The khaleej is not a nation and you cannot compare it with (or use in the same sense as) Egypt or Lebanon. It is neither the geographical area (though in the narrow sense it is), because the Euphrates delta is a part of the gulf but iraqis are not khaleejis, or the KSA nationals are, though many of them live far away and have nothing to do with the Gulf. The term "khaleej" is used in the socio-cultural sense and refers to the specific culture and customs. So, your thinking goes along comparing apples and oranges (when you talk about "all nations").
You are right that the arab unity is weak. The deterioration of it started with the Ottoman rule, the French and British diminished it further by creating as many new nation as they could, and today the americans are taking special care in developing and maintaining the differences. Despite the rhetoric for the media, does not the USA has enough with the EU and China, and would like to have all arabs united ? Don't you see all those flags at even the smallest pan-arab gatherings ? So, there is no unity and someone is helping in keeping it as it is.
I used the term "civilized" in the basic sense (what cold be inferred from the context, which is about the cities), that comes from the "civil" and refers to the city, that is, as a city culture, and not in the sense of "barbarian" - of having no culture. For instance many tribes in the world used to have their rich cultures, but as they did not develop cities were not "civil". The word "uncivilized" has been corrupted by the american popular usage.
My first comment was short and simple, and it wanted to say that the show looks like an american production that fakes the arab realities, but that it makes sense because the khaleejis copy americans in everything. There was just a little salt added to that, that khaleejis often go too far, in view of other arab nationals, when they come to visit. I agree with you that in khaleej there are many respectable people, but those who are seen abroad in great many cases are not - and yes, a lot of them are very arrogant, have tendency to treat all women as sluts, and are the sexual predators. When you criticize you cannot give a balanced picture, and the details that Nadia is giving, though unpleasant, are the facts. The criticism is not present to make things worse but too address the problems, as the "khaleejis abroad" are the problem. We are not "resentful" and the "haters" - you will understand it better if you look around yourself. If you are in the west - take a trip ! ... Though, I agree this talk about the show is gone too far beyond the subject.
-
Thank you for your elaborate answer but you know so well that that will not appease the innocent Khaleejis who reads your comments. i know the Khaleejis are not a nation, that is besides the point. What is your point and Nadia's point when both of you generalized and lumped all the Khaleejis (the men in particular) into one narrow barbaric group? What do you hope to gain from the discussion? Does it solve the problem? Or is it merely to create tension and division? To create hostility? Or to gain attention and replies? No, Nadia has not stated a fact but she has made a crude statement. Let me enlighten you with one of the statements: Khaleejis are very fond of these practices (refering to rape and killing of a slave). In God's name, where does she find even one Khaleeji here who could ascertain her bizarre statement? She refered to the Khaleejis as THEY ARE THE ONES WHO RAPE YEMENI KIDS....and you thanked her for her extended elaboration. Who are you kidding? You gave me a historical lecture. My advice to you is, scrap the history and focus on your own thinking and way of understanding. Do not take me as a naive girl who lives abroad...At least this girl->I-> who lives abroad still respects the people she left behind and chooses to review people by their own doing and not generalized an entire "nation" or group of people in the most horrific aspect possible. There is never an excuse to lump all the people into one murky colour, regardless of the news we read because criminals do not represent anyone but themselves. If you want to open another lecture that still justifies your unjust generalizations to Khaleejis, then by now, we know that you do not represent the good people of El Sham but you are among the ugly few.
-
You are generalizing yourself: in the first comment you say you met a Lebanese who proved that stereotypes about Leb. are wrong, you met in Egypt some warm people, so it is likely all the Egyptians are warm; and in this comment you say I am one of the ugly few - therefore people of al sham are in general good. Second, you are literally misquoting what is written above, or maybe you cannot read properly: above is said that khaleejis had their culture and were NOT barbarians, but - did not have the city culture. Also, nowhere above is written that ALL khaleejis are such and such, but - many visitors to other countries who come from that region (that they have the bad reputation). Further on: this is not a discussion and no one is hoping to gain anything; just a reaction to a program that comes from the khaleej (and your providing answers is just your imagination). What Nadia said she was not making up; though, some readers would like a more polished form. I did thank her for expending her first three line comment - not for what you are indicating (and again you are reading what is not written, that I thanked her for the "elaboration") ! I do not take you for a "naive girl": where do you find that ? I have no idea if you are a "girl" or what you are, and can go only by what you write. And where do you find that I do not respect the khaleejis ? On purpose I said they had an unfortunate history, and because of that many of them went bananas. If you "scrap (them) history" (your advice to me), then they are really hopeless! ... You are right that criminals represent only themselves ! I only wonder how I represent the bad part of al sham: is not "representing" a generalization - and you do not do that ?
-
generalization can be divided into two: 1) positive 2) negative. the generalization that Nadia made and you agreed upon is a type of generalization that could lead to racism and sometimes to genocide. According to Gary M. Grobman --Genocide is the ultimate expression of hatred and violence against a group of people.
It is important to note that although Myriam might have made a generalization, it is not harmful to anyone. in fact, it was very positive and I am sure anyone from Lebanon or Egypt would be happy to hear. Generalization that leans towards racism (as Nadia has done) is not only unpleasant but could be very dangerous. She did not state a fact but rather she gathered some isolated cases and claim the Khaleejis are FOND of these activities (reread her last comment) as if we condone these acts. I take huge offence at the negative generalization done by Nadia as it ponders on racism. A simple case, we take for example the generalization towards Muslims. After 9 11, Muslims are generalized as terrorists. this has led to hate crimes against Muslims all over the world especially in the west (example Miriam El Sherbini was killed, Muslims are harassed in the west, laws banning Islamic elements). Another example of harmful generalization is in the United States, the movie industry portrays African-Americans as being unintelligent, lazy, or violence-prone. As a result prejudice against African-Americans has been encouraged. Therefore, generalization can be harmful as well as pleasant. Myriam made it clear she was against harmful generalization. on the other hand, nadia has made it clear she harbors a racism of such towards Khaleejis which is very dangerous especially by showing it on a medium where millions of people could read it. Of course, as i said, some Khaleejis are committing crimes and evils but to use these isolated issues and labeling Khaleejis as "they are fond of rape and such and such", why? Have you not read of how racisms and negative stereotyping against groups of people has led to violence? On Waleg alone I have seen clashes between Egyptian readers and Algerian readers because of isolated cases of crimes being discussed out of context (the football issue). They accuse each other of being so and so (negative generalization). What do we want now? A clash between Khaleejis and Nadia and you? My point is, I have not dismiss the crimes done by SOME Khaleejis but it is not fair to put us into an ugly cookie-cutter and claim that is who we are. i wonder what the old Qatari man you claim to know would feel if he read "The khaleejis abroad are indeed the most unpleasant bunch one can meet, be it in the UK, or Syria or Egypt. I especially blame them for creating the rings of prostitution..." i am sure he has some relatives who are abroad just as I do. When I read about Hisham Taalat Mustafa, I only focus on him as a criminal and not him as the Egyptian Criminal. When I read about the adulteress murderer who killed her husband, I had to Astaghfar several times but I did not generalize about the Egyptians. hopefully, you understand my points and refrain from further negative generalization and cease to agree with nadia (she clearly is making racist statements which are false and off track at best).Salam...(a wish that is usually associated with Muslims ---> positive generalization)
-
I agree with you on the 9/11, and on the soccer match arguing that went off on a tangent. Every word you said I can undersign. As you say, these are good examples of the negative generalizations. The old Qatari gentleman, I can tell you, is already very upset with what he sees happening around him and is wondering where the world has gone, and aware that he cannot change anything prefers to live in the past. He would say, I am sure, that all that "modernization" is not good and makes many young people go nuts into some belief they can do it all with the money. What he himself says is that now many believe that all is free - and that is according to him very wrong. He does not care for the computers, let alone the web. As for the writings on this page, it is true anyone on the web can get it, but people are selective and as in a newspaper they skip a lot; so I do not believe there are many who care for this page (the number can be surprisingly small).
I understand your points and accept them; however, have problem with your understanding of the generalizations. It is all right to say it can be positive or negative, as you do, but, it is in the extreme cases as nothing is exclusively positive or negative. From the other angle, why are there only qualifiers "some" (several) and "all" ? How about "many" or "very many" ? We disagree because for you generalization is possible only if we deal with "all" or some approximation of it (like, germans in early 40ties were nazis - implying all), which is correct, but you discard the generalizations that are between "some" and "all" - like dealing with "many". This is where the problem is. We understand what "some" with pos./neg. qualifier is - same with "all"; but the "many" is on the border line, and if negative may or may not imply "all" - and strictly speaking does not (!) I will take your example of the african americans, or the blacks. The generalizations you list do not imply "all" but "many" - and they are true. You say that positive generalizations do not make anyone unhappy and hence they are all right (even if Myriam generalized about Egyptians or Lebanese it did not hurt anyone). I understand your basic motivation in this, and would do the same myself in many cases, but this approach (in avoiding the negatives and the unpleasant) does not solve the problems, does not address the burning issues.
Finally, I think it is not the matter of our disagreement, or if I made a mistake or not. The generalizations problem is open and many for different reasons at different times disagree about it. A good example is the "profiling". In some western countries it is not used, or approved of, and after 9/11, for instance, at some airports all passengers may be considered suspicious, so the old ladies are thoroughly searched as well as the babies in the prams; and at the other airports the profiling is used and some groups of passengers are given a special attention. like all the KSA citizens - not because they are all potential terrorists, but because the authorities at the airports think many of them are. All this is not going to make the ksa passengers happy, but that is besides the point, as the negative generalization has the purpose and does not imply "all" but "many" and - it does not lead to the racism, if we understand what is going on. So, all the generalizations depend on those who hear them, what they think of it.
Anyways, for me this show is still an example of the serious inability of the khaleejis to deal with their "fortunes" - of suddenly having the oil wealth and the americans at their neck. They are in the eye of all arab world and that is why I am "concerned".

There should be room for Khaleejis to utilize their fortune for entertainment as well as for the development of humanity. We do not see anyone complaining of the billions of dollars spent in Egypt for their movie industry even though I dare say money is still an issue in Egypt.I did read somewhere here on Waleg, Tamer Hosni is receiving 80 million pounds for a film. Where are these big stars' donations? There are times when the rest of the world should know when to stop dictating what Khaleejis should do with money. Its not as if we alone are able/ should clean up the mess of the world. Khaleejis have and continues to contribute to the development of our own country as well as others. 1) Saudi Arabia has set up a $1bn Opec fund and offered $500m in soft loans to help poorer countries cope with high oil prices. 2) The Saudi Fund for Development was established to fulfill developing countries’ need for assistance in order to implement development projects. the Fund's capital has been augmented numerous times, and in 1991 totalled 31 billion Saudi Riyals. Despite the fact that the Fund has been operating for a relatively short time, it has made great strides in the area of international development co-operation. The Fund now contributes to the financing of 3750 projects in 71 countries, consisting of 41 African countries, 25 Asian countries, and five countries in other parts of the world. 3) Little look at the past in 1985. six Arabian Gulf countries committed their financial forces to the 1980's fight against famine (See Aramco World, January-February 1984) This funding - from Saudi Arabia, Kuwait, Oman, Bahrain, Qatar and the United Arab Emirates - was not the first large gift of cash from the Arab world to Africa's starving peoples in 1984; earlier in that year Saudi Arabia, acting alone, donated $185 million to help pay the cost of transporting food, drilling wells and installing pumps in stricken areas of the African continent. 4) Abu Dhabi Fund for Development ,an autonomous institution owned by the government of Abu Dhabi, was established on July 15th, 1971 to help developing countries to achieve development through assistance in the form of concessionary loans, developments grants and equity participation. 5)Qatar Development Fund was established to assist Arab and other developing countries to develop their economies and implement their development programmes.Qatar has recently made a donation of 50 million Qatari riyals to the Comoros through its Qatar Development Fund.6)Saudi Arabia and Indonesia are discussing a plan where Saudi aid organizations will extend a SR225 million loan facility to fund the construction of two hospitals in Indonesia. There seems great issue with Dubai's drastic development but people tend to forget, when Malaysia had their Twin Towers, it placed Malaysians in the eyes of the world and look at Malaysia's economy now. Look at China's Shanghai World Financial Center, where has it landed China now? Lets not be wet blankets and face the truth - modern cities and state of the art architectures are important as it is a symbol of the country's economic power. During the early 20th century the construction of tall buildings became very popular in big cities. Tall buildings were seen as a symbol of power and greatness. Thus, major cities, especially in America, fought for the tallest buildings in the world.Today the world’s tallest buildings no longer stand in America. Other countries, mainly in the growing regions of Asia, have entered the prestigious race for the tallest structures in the world. The 452 metre high Petronas Towers in Malaysia, completed in 1996, became the first skyscraper outside the US to climb the top of the list. The Taipei 101, at a height of 508 metres, was the tallest completed building in the world before the Burj Dubai was officiated this year.
Concerned, it is hardly fair to accuse Khaleejis of being incapable of utilizing their wealth for benefits for the rest of the world just because of one entertainment show. Simply out of curiosity, i watched this hiya wa howa show and find it to be boring but hardly believe it could cause such a long disparagement done by you and nadia towards Khaleejis. You seem to jump from one accusation to another each time a comment is given to point out the injustice you are causing towards Khaleejis. now it is about incapabilities of handling money(which i find alarming). surely it is acceptable for the rest of the world if we Khaleejis would like to fund and develop a little entertainment, as tacky as it may be? It seems you wish to simply pass the buck to the Khaleejis and Khaleejis only? It is very easy to say you are "concerned" behind your computer screen but I say, action speaks louder than words. Instead of jumping from one accusation to another to disparage others, you might want to actually contribute to the development of the Ummah! I say, look in your own backyard!

That is exactly what I am doing ! I am looking in my yard and find there khaleejis, doing things that I do not want to see in my city. These are the individuals from the Gulf, many of them, but not their countries. All countries that have certain wealth. like the gulf countries, are trying to do positive things (as they see how it is done in the world; as you talk about the donations and the skyscrapers); and they have some successes, no doubt, and you have listed them - and, thank you for that. However, along the achievements come the failures as well, and the trends in the kjaleeji media are part of that; like copying americans in every way possible. This is not just "one entertainment show". You are right that there are some aberrations in other countries as well; like Haifa's million dollar outfits, etc. (By the way, Tamer Hosni's prepay amount was made up by the egyptian yellow press.) You are right that I am not contributing enough for the ummah ... The "jumping" is prompted not by a desire to pile accusations, rather by the obligation to reply (when talked to).

Not Only Khaleeji people are doing plastic surgery.. ma it was started in Europe its not invented my Khaleji ppl .. And if you are pissed of from Khaleji ppl just say your opinion in a logical manner. Khaleji ppl are opening their country to all foreigners, so it is not a human nature to start stabbing from their back. People go back to the main subject which is YOUR Review of the MBC talk show "Heya o Howa".
