Iranian Stoned to Death

Sakineh Mohammadi Ashtiani

After four years in jail Sakineh Mohammadi Ashtiani was sentenced to be stoned to death over adultery accusations; the mother of two was arrested shortly after her husband’s murder and was accused of having two illegal relationships with men out of wedlock. Ashtiani was then judged to 99 lashes in front of her son.

The case a year later reopened when one of the men Ashtiani had an illegal relationship with was convicted for the murder of her husband. Ashtiani was now facing charges of having a hand in the murder of the father of her children, Ashtiani pleaded innocent and confessed only the adultery accusation, but the judge found her guilty to both charges and sentenced her to be stoned to death.

The media started propaganda against Iran, especially that a woman been stoned to death over adultery (which is very normal in their countries) case is extremely cruel. Her lawyer claimed that Ashtiani was only convicted for the adultery case as her children forgive her for been a part of the murder. strikes and movements all over the world halted the sentence from been carried out when the ambassador of Iran in England announced that Sakineh will not be stoned to death but her sentence will still be carried out, we are still waiting to see how far this case will go?

Long ago, and through our prophets (prophet Essa and prophet Mohammed) we learnt that the punishment for adultery is to be stoned to death but only a person with no sins can carry out the punishment. Where can this person be found today in a world full of sinners, Sakineh was judged according to laws of Islamic ‘Sharia’ and for her sentence to be truly according to the rules of Islam a prophet have got to be found! It is our religion and our belief, I just wish that the west understand our religion better before attacking Islam, this can be because the laws of Islam are not been carried out like they should.

In my opinion, today this punishment over adultery is brutal especially for the mother of two orphans but if Ashtiani really had a hand in her husband’s murder she deserved the worst punishment possible. What do you think about Ashtiani’s case?

If she had a role in his murder she deserves life imprisonment. No more no less.

And the issue with Sharia law is it is not supposed to be done, its meant as a deterrent not an actual ruling of law! So I do not blame the west for hating on what they see, because I am hating on it too.. nothing civil about what happened to her/ will happen to her.

Saying, "It is our religion and our belief" does not absolve you of moral responsibility. Even if you believe the commandment from God to stone adulteresses is clear, you still have to make the decision whether it is ethical to obey such a command.

to obey a command from God without a doubt it is ethical no one knows our benefits like God!!! and like i said their r always conditions and the condition is that the person should have no sins at all to carry out the stonning

Absolutely disgusting! This is why islam doesn't belong in western countries or anywhere in the world for that matter it only causes problems like this. She is being punished according to sharia law according to prophet muhammed and the koran and that's sick. That book was written in the 7th century it said the earth was flat! You're going by a book that has been proved wrong by science in every way possible! Islam is holding countries like iran from ever moving forward. Stoning someone to death anyone is wrong! Doesn't matter what they did!!! I hate rapists, but I wouldn't even want a rapist to be stoned so why would I want a woman who committed adultery to be stoned? And now I'm curious what if the role was reversed and what if the husband committed adultery and than killed his wife what would happen to him? Would he be stoned too or spared just because he is a man?

You think she deserves to be stoned to death???!!!!! Even if she killed her husband she doesn't deserve to be stoned to death! Maybe life in prison, but not stoned to death she has kids!!!! What will happen to them? You don't even know the whole story yet what if the husband was abusive to her? You never know the whole story and there are always 2 sides to every story. But seriously are you that inhumane? Put yourself in her place would you want to be stoned to death? It's barbaric and savage.Human Rights has to put an end to all of this. If this is islam I don't want any part in it!
DEATH TO ISLAM! DEATH TO IRAN!

Its barbaric what some Musliims think and do, but do remember that not all Muslims are extremists and want to stone people to death. Yes we live in a society where we dont even hang people anymore, and truly some Islamic countries are still behind with their laws. I mean the bible says that women shouldn't speak at church but christian women today do speak in church freely and thats because we recognize that he context of the time was different and we have to understand that its not the Islamic faith as a whole that is wrong, but some people inside that religion which still hold very old views and haven't moved on with time.
Proud to be a Muslim: we dont know that she did kill him, and if she did, all sins are equal in the eyes of God so if she was to be stoned you should also be stoned for your hate towards westerners? and aren't you making it easier for westerners to hate Muslims by posting a message as hateful; as that? and then westerners do say that Islam is a religion of hate. I really dont get your last phrase, of course westerners would still have existed without Muslims, its not like they were the first people on earth.

Standard Sharia law calls for stoning to death of adulterers. Don't forget that Iran is really "The Islamic Republic of Iran", which means that the state is obliged to carry out Sharia law. If you have not yet seen the movie, "The Stoning of Soraya", do not miss it. It is about the real-life case of the stoning to death of an Iranian woman for adultery (trumped up charges!). The punishment of death by stoning is not in the Koran, but it is in the sayings of Muhammad.

Proud to be muslim, sweety you are a complete joke you know that? Adultery is a sin yes,but stoning someone taking someone's life is also a sin. Only GOD has the right to give and take someone's life. Ordinary human being cannot take another human being's life that is wrong.I know the woman wasn't right either to kill her husband, but that doesn't give anybody the right to take her life in such a brutal way it's disgusting and wrong.I don't care what your stupid quran said like I said the quran even said the earth was flat,so are you going to believe that too? One muslim woman said everyone has already reached the moon and back while muslims are still arguing about whether a woman's toe should be shown in public or not and that is true. The quran was a book written long time ago centuries ago times were different then the practices were different ppl were different but right now it's the 21st century so start living like it! The commenter above me makes a good point he or she said the bible says that women shouldn't speak at church but christian women today do speak in church freely and thats because we recognize that the context of the time was different. That is very true christians even are starting to acknowledge somethings that are wrong in the bible. The bible said the earth was flat, but it obviously isn't,but christians today know that and understand that and they don't see that as an attack on their religion which is why western societies are progressing while muslim societies are left back in the stoneages. I don't know why muslims feel criticism of islam is an attack on islam and on muslims it's actually not. Every religion is constantly attacked as we make more scientific discoveries and hopefully in the future there will be no religion,no wars, nothing of that sort. That would help. And what does proud to be a muslim mean by oh yh i dnt care what the west think what they need is no rules in thier life besides they hate muslims they just dont get our religon so why do we get thers if it wasnt for us muslims they wouldnt have existed in this life. Maybe they would think differently about you if you didn't stone people to death and start living in the 21st century! Maybe they would feel differently if you stopped being barbaric and savage and had a heart for once! And wtf if it wasn't for us muslims they wouldn't have existed in this life?! What does that mean? Muslims weren't the first humans on earth if it wasn't for muslims let me tell you the world would be a better place today that's all,but ofcourse ppl would have existed there were people on earth way before islam, way before any religion people were still there! Religion came after people, religion is man-made weapon that destroys people that's all it is.
Btw islam wasn't the first religion on earth Hinduism which is not exactly a religion, but a way of life, was on earth approximately 5,000 years before islam. Proud to be a muslim sounds so ignorant because of his or her comment just like all muslims. He or she sounds like a high school drop out with a comment like she deserves to be stoned and westerners would've existed before islam LMAO

miss, you need to get ALL your facts straight. i ve seen nothing but ignorance from you in all your comments including other articles. MUSLIMS were the people who found out the world was not flat according to a verse in the Quran. you give us nothing but poppycock. yeah you said she doesn't deserve to be put to death coz she has kids. oh really? where were her kids when she betrayed them by sleeping with someone other than their father? was she thinking about them(i hope to god not). and what the hell you ask Traveller to put herself in that criminal's place? its crazy, the whole point of this punishment, beside the actual punishing, is to set an example to the community including Traveller. most western countries including the USA (35 states to be exact) has death penalty. USA's form of death penalty are lethal injection and electric chair, you think that is any less painful than stoning? in fact, scientifically it is said to be more torturous and slow.Israel,Malaysia,Singapore, China, Russia(shooting), Japan, Taiwan, Ecuador(for sea piracy not for murder, you seeeee) so as you can see, most of the countries that still applies the capital punishment are not even Islamic countries. u only talk about the rights of the criminal, but never even for once think of the victim, the victim's parents and families. plus in this case, the victim was the breadwinner in the family. if for some reason u oppose the death penalty, do so, but do not show your hate to Islam as the death penalty is done mostly in non Islamic countries the highest being China.khalas your hate.

I am muslim and I think it's barbaric, I can't describe my disgust from this stoning to death sentence. I just can't believe that god would order people to commit such a barbaric act towards another person. I just can't I'm sorry. No matter what she did that's not the way to take her life, it's unhuman. I'm not against death penalty especially in the cases of rape, rapist don't deserve less than the death penalty but I don't think they deserve to be tortured before dying no I'm sorry taking their lives away is enough in my opinion. And in this case, it's not proven that she has anything to do with her husband's murder, we don't know if her husband was abusive towards her and has pushed her to seek love outside her house (I'm against that though but I understand why some women or men do it) and yet they sentence her to this barbaric end. Just ta5allof in its simplest and most obvious ways. Shame shame shame

So you think there are no Muslim girls who do drugs and go to rehabs and teenagers who have kids out of wedlocks? Hello!!!! where are you living? We have all that in the Muslim and the Arab world, and it's even worst because at least in the West most of those pregnant teenagers find support somewhere if not from their parents at least from other people and the innocent baby never pays the bill for the mistake his mother did. In the Muslim world the girl pays a horrible bill (this if she lives in country advanced enough to not be killed by her father or brother) and the baby pays a worst bill he would always be treated like ibn haram and usually has no future because of the way people look at them. I live in America and many people I've met have no shame whatsoever telling me that they were adopted or they were raised by their single mother or they have never known their father and their last name is their mother's name. At least in the west people are human enough to not make those innocent kids pay the bill.

YOU sound like a high school drop out with your ignorant ranting about the Quran. all your quotes were wrong, even a woman name Sabrina clearly proof all your quotes wrong and you even admitted to the points she made(in another article) yet you come here like you know anything about the Quran. where in Quran does it states the world is flat. The Quran does not say the say the earth is flat (this is grieve misunderstanding.) on the contrary it is clear that the earth is a sphere slightly bulged like science have proved.the world flat that is used was only to show how it looks flat for the traveler you need to see the context how it describes that we made it flat so you can travel across it
for example here is a sample of words used
    بسطناها
    فرشناها
    سطحت
    دحاها
    مددناها

each word has a specific meaning for the context
also describing the mountains to travel like clouds is a hint that earth is not stationary, etc.and day and night are spherical only shows they surround the earth in such a way because the earth is spherical and so on.

    more scientific evidence

Sun's and Moon's orbits, rotation and revolution (Quran 21:33)
    Sun=light (Siraj), Moon=reflects light (Nur) (Quran 25:61)
Big Bang: 'don't the unbelievers see that the heavens and earth were
joined together as one united piece then We parted them?' (21:30)
    Embryology in the Quran
Space travel: "Oh assembly of the Jinns and humans, if you could penetrate the regions of the heavens and the earth, then penetrate, you will never be able to do it except with the power (from Allah) Quran 55:33)

and lastly u ponder stupidly "I don't know why muslims feel criticism of islam is an attack on islam and on muslims it's actually not." probably bcoz you mention the Quran as "stupid quran"?

you seem to always contradict yourself in every sense. u mention u wish all religion to be abolish as it is man-made according to u but in another sentence u said only GOD has the right to take human life, so where does god come in a non religion situation? next in another article, u show profound hatred to haifa so much for her being "half-naked( i dislike her too bcoz she in no way represent good entertainment) but yet again in another article u said a woman has a beautiful body, she has the right to show it. Capital punishment is accepted in many progressive countries so that rebukes all your claims that it does not belong in the 21st century. look at JAPAN! i would hardly think it is a backward country yet it still implements the capital punishment.

    i found on a website:

As of late January 2009, there were 95 people awaiting execution in Japan.Tsutomu Miyazaki and two others were hanged on June 17, 2008.A total of nine convicted murderers were executed in 2007.Three men were executed on August 23, 2007,four men were executed on December 25, 2006,one execution was carried out in 2005 and two in 2004.

Japan is not a religious. a study made by Pitzer shows that Japan is one of the least religious country in the world. while USA is a religious country. therefore again it shows that capital punishment is accepted by many regardless of their faiths or lack of it. it is simply a call for Justice. in the end, i believe Allah is the Knower and the Just of All. and if this woman was WITHOUT doubt and PROVEN 100% to be guilty, then i say death is the advisable. why should the tax payers pay for a killer living in the prison?

First of all you successfully continue to prove both ur OUTSIZED ignorance & rudeness!!
Honestly, you are either some1 who lies through the teeth or a complete ignorant. How dare do u describe the Noble Quran as a 'stupid book'? u r the stupidest person here because the Quran did tell that the earth is sphere not flat as the Bible said!!.
The Quran in its accurate embriological descriptions made Keith Moore, the very famous brilliant embriologist convert to Islam.
The Quran led Gary Miller (a scientist & previously a Christian preecher) to convert to Islam when he didn't find a single mistake of any type within its words!!( a real not a claimed mistake).
The Quran led the French surgeon & schoolar Maurice Bucaille to convert to Islam & wrote his book in which he compared between the Bible & the Quran in the light of the science. Don't u know about his journey 2 Islam & how could he found that the Quran is a MIRACLE!!

The list goes on & on & the conclusion is:
    It's a miracle 4 a book from the 7th century 2 tell u so many scientific facts (just if u r reasonable)!!!

The Quran has always been able ' ALONE' 2 be the reason behind the converting of many many ppl of all backgrounds to Islam.

*. u continue to post ur stupid comments that are based on NOTHING, FILLING THEM WITH UR OBVIOUS HATRED TO ISLAM. why all this din u r making??? ha?
*. ur hatred will harm u not us!!
(& to Hmmm: where r u 2 protest on these offences & hatred??)

*. As the case in the articles about the burqaa u think that u could silence Muslims, u even said it ,while all the comments showed perfect replies from many Muslims to silence u, contrary 2 ur hopes!!
very weirdly & rudely u didn't stop but continue 2 do the same platitude!!

*. That punishment in ur opinion brings problems!!!
Now, how do u classify the following 'sample' disasters:
    1. Normal dating outside marrige 'adultery' & consequently normal fornication.
    2. very terrible High percentage of teenage pregnants.
    3. children who r born without knowing their fathers.
    4. children who r miserably imputed to their unreal fathers.
    .
    .
Needless 2 continue as it's known 4 all of us. So stop claiming that Islam generates problems becoz 2 abandon its laws is the real disaster!! the holy Quran calls us never to be even close from adultery. (prevention is better than cure, right?)

*.for ur information (which is very poor & wrong about Islam): The punishment of stoning 2 death is not in the Quran but it's in the AUTHENTIC Sunnah (this is also 2 Nahla). Also, there are many conditions required 2 do this punishment (it's not an easy thing). Also,it is the punishment 4 only the MARRIED one who commits adultery whether he/she is a male/female (not as what u claimed). Also, if u knew alittle about the Islamic history u would know that this punishment was done in the whole Islamic Great Empire during the all Islamic ages very very rarely. Why do u think? i'll tell u:
because it's effective enough 2 perfectly eliminatie the crime of adultery!!

    * I say : Well -said (To both Hanim & Red)

    * & Lastly, u very very rudely openly wish the death 2 Islam !!
    I say:
    - Death 2 the enemies of Islam(our religin)
    - LONG LIVE to ISLAM (THE TRUE RELIGION).

Tell me: who could ever stop Islam despite all the fierce attacks on it since the dawn of its history? None ya Mr. Not impressed.

Defends the FREE west with all their might, and yet want to enforce their opinions on others by actually lying in their posts (they quote the Quran with lies obviously knowing anything about it)

Ms "Not impressed" actualy posted here under the name "Arab 101" or God knows whatever nicknmames trying to denigrate Arabs and Islam. I would not worry about them and they even have a Youtube channel JUST dedicated to exposing Haifa and racism against the Lebanese, I would say they have big psychological problems and at the same time attacking Haifa's fans for being obsessive. I really would not take anything they say with a grain of salt. Maybe they need a job poor thing. Someone who spends all that time and effort on hating whether someone's else's religion, culture or whatever must have undergone some trauma in their lives.

    Hi every body
I am a muslim from IRAN and I want to say that we are not barbar.we don’t have this penalty in Quran but there is in sharia. stoned to death is very painful and hateful I know but the purpose of such a penalty is just a deterrence ,to keep the rest of society from this sin because we as a muslim believe that the fire and 3zab el jahannam is the most painful ,Islam wants to prevent this sin to be distributed ,to be common. Also I have to say that it is not happen in my country everyday! This case is very special and rare ,this woman has an illegitimate sexual relationship with a men during her life with his husband and with 2 men after she killed him .But we say the GOD is ar7am alra7emin and lots of people and some of our clerics are trying to save her from being stoned, under our law she deserves to death penalty because we have ghesas in Quran and what she has done is shameful
western countries say that we are barbar because we obey allah ,we believe in quran and we follow the way of our prophet. mohammed rasul allah was the last messenger from allah and his book is the only way of nijat from eternal fire from his age to end of the history of human on the earth.

but keep in mind that (according to the article & unless she was innocent) the mentioned deeds are huge crimes:
betrayal to the husband + betrayal to her children + adultery + killing or at least having a hand in killing her husband

so, is this a humanitarian thing??
keep in mind that defending a criminal is a crime itself.

& there was clear option 4 her 2 b divorced if her husband was really abusive 2 her (just ur suggestion) & the killing thing should not have been any any option 4 her.

    Omg I thought so too.
Not impressesd, no one seems impressed with your disrespectful hateful attitude, you do seem to have issues sort them out before you write essays other wise no one will take you seriously.
As for the punishment if she was guilty, then she should be locked up for life as I think it is more of a punishment and stoning or the death penalty makes me sick.

Not only are you ignorant and racist, you are a moron. I mean some previous comments by you on previous articles were just absurd like " Why are they getting married like that, isn't that a Chrsitian tradition?" or " are Lebanese Christians?" or "isn't Elissa a Christian name?" !... As if wearing a white dress and having a party is exclusive to Christians and westerners!!! Also for someone who has detailed history of EVERY single move Haifa made ( funny you call her fans obsessive), you would think you would know the religions of the country where she came from. Ofcourse you are going to go on a rant using a five page essay but frankly your comments are so silly, it is like they are made by a person living in a box not aware of the actual world around them. However thank you for the laugh, your commets are UNFORGATTABLE, I was browsing the website and basically choking on laughter! especially when you were asking about Nancy's baby " that's a european baby, did she marry a European?" Apparently blue eyed babies are only European babies loooool

I really beg people not to try and defend Islam against such an ignorant person...
