Miss Lebanon 2010: Rahaf Abdallah Wears the Tiara

By Mariam on Jul 10, 2010

Miss Lebanon 201

Friday evening, 8th July 2010, marked the crowning of Miss Lebanon 2010. The show started with 16 contestants all from different parts of Lebanon. This year none of the contestants have done any modeling or such in the past as a new rule for the competition. The show had its ups and downs, Lebanese superstar Ragheb Alama and Haifa Wehbe where the star guest each singing two of their known songs and entertaining the audience. Somehow Haifa managed to blind everyone with the bright colors she decided to wear.

Photos of Miss Lebanon 2010 Rahaf Abdallah

Photos Rahaf Abdallah

This year the girls where all less than 24 years of age, all well educated and smart girls whose beauty came as a bonus. (I was partially biased when watching the show because my relative Jana Zein was competing and although she only made it to the top 10, we are all very proud of her).

However, I think that Rahaf Abdallah deserved to win Miss Lebanon 2010. Her good looks, forwardness, smart answers, and cuteness all helped awe the judges, the 22 year old beauty queen is 174cm, she enjoys swimming, reading and all types of sports and is a student at the Lebanese American University.

Rahaf looked cute with a swimsuit and scored 9.683 points, as for the dress, Rahaf enhanced it making it look even better than it is thus giving her 9.739 points which aided in her position at the top 10. As for the question Rahaf was asked about plastic surgery tourism ( people who travel to different countries just to have plastic surgeries) Rahaf answered by saying that she is with science development and plastic surgery’s because they have helped a lot of people who had been born deformed, had accidents or are mentally not satisfied with their self however she said she doesn’t like the negative side of plastic surgery because nowadays people are being extreme changing their whole look, making them unrecognizable. Rahaf received a whopping 9.800 point putting her in the lead. She was picked as one of the Top 5’s and after answering the universal question brilliantly it came as no surprised when her name was announced.

Do you think Rahaf Abdallah deserved to win Miss Lebanon 2010? If not who would you have preferred to win the title?

"This year none of the contestants have done any modeling or such in the past as a new rule for the competition."
That cannot be right as Jessica Kahawaty is a model here in Australia and was in the top ten finalists for Miss Australia Universe!

Is she muslim? She would be the first to win Miss Lebanon.

u said u dont give crap bout religion but ur first question is she muslims seems to belie what u state. why would u ask if she was muslim or not or even if she was the first muslim to win the title so what?why would u implore on her religion, shame on u, yet have the audacity to claim u dont give crap bout religion.and rana, ur comment was without base, what does freckles and religion has to do with each other?many muslims and christians i know have freckles.to the article, i dont think she is very pretty compared to the others, thats just my opinion.

Because Missy it is the first ever Muslim to win the title even though the pageant has been going on for decades and I know a lot of deserving Muslims candidates that applied but got nowhere. I was wondering if the LBC finally decided to let a Muslim win after all, because of Rima's win in America.

Do not shame me because I have nothing to be ashamed for and keep your ignorant comment to yourself.

Yes I do not care but Hasan's answer that she is Shiite just like Rima confirms my doubt that even the LBC thought it is about time to crown a Muslim queen only after the US did it first. Ok so I respect when you said shame on you, you did not mean it that way if you say you so. This pageant along with a lot of competitions on the LBC is very corrupt.

I also like her first name Rahaf which made ask the question in the first place, it is a very lovely name for a girl. These names are unfortunately more common among Muslims than Christians in our country unlike freckles which are very common among people of all religion :P

so what if religion is mentioned? Can't people discuss religion without being aggressive or getting on your high horses. A person can discuss religion for various reasons. Ok so Rana's comment was a bit funny by all measures, but I'm thinking she did not mean it in a bad way lol

then in that point i agree with u.

    @Andrea
no one is getting on their high horse just becoz religion is mentioned or discussed.it was a matter of fact inquiry that got lil bit out of hand on why Small Advice ask bout her religion when at another point she states her indifference towards it.and u know, come to think of it, i agree with u that Rana didnt mean any harm by her freckle statement, it was just baseless and in the end hilarious.

Fatme and Ruba (below), you really are not qualified to judge Jessica Kahawaty when international beauty pageants in the past have qualified her and awarded her. She has won Miss Lebanon Australia 2007 and Miss Emigrant 2008 (beating Rima Fakih). She has represented the Lebanese community in Australia really well in Miss Australia and ranked top 10 out of 7000 Australian entrants (refer to her fan page where I got the info from).
Furthermore, Jessica ranked 6th out of 75 countries in Miss International.
Jessica got the highest scores in swimwear and evening wear. Meaningless smile Ruba? Why do I have a feeling you're one of the competitors disgused and venting your jealousy here?
Jessica has one of the best smiles and she is co-star in the Maybelline campaign in India with supermodel Diana Penty (refer again to her fan page with video on youtube!).
I am no one to judge which girl is pretty and which girl deserves it or not because I am not qualified, I am however basing everything on FACTS and MARKS given by judges.

Shame on you Fatme and Ruba.. You two sound like you're from Rahaf's town with your uneducated and perceptionless words :)

GO JESSICA. You don't need ANOTHER title to tell you that you're the best representative Lebanon has overseas.

I bet this girl was talking about Haifa.Smart girl eventhough she's so much younger than Haifa.Haifa should learn something from her.

Rafah is beautiful and deserved to win, of course I have seen prettier girls particularly in South Lebanon but a lot of them wont compete... And yes she is MUSLIM.... and she is not the first Muslim to win, the 3rd I believe...

So you are just assuming that all of the people who come from Rafah's town (Khiyam) are uneducated?? Are all the people not from her town more educated? If I went to a village far in the North will all of the people be educated? And how do you know this girl doesn't live in Beirut like so many people from the South? Oh and I think you have missed the part where it stated she was very well educated and a graduate of LAU..I would like facts to support this bigoted statement. Shame on you, do not judge others when you are throwing out stereotypes and cocky statements and dressing it up with a smile. I would have you know that Muslims in America hold higher degrees than non Muslims... I thought I would just throw that statement back in your face. In the end we should all be proud, do not judge her as Muslim or Christian she is Lebanese. Oh and as you stated, Jessica placed 6th internationally in Miss International and in the top ten for Miss Australia. Well Australia is the country she lives in, she did not manage to even win that title. And If she lost Miss International, why would the judges take a chance on sending her to Miss Universe?? Have you not thought for one moment that this may be one reason why the judges did not chose her? Why would you place your bet on someone who has not won an international title previously? She won Miss Lebanon emigrant, beating out Rima Fakih... That's fine, but the scale of the Miss Lebanon emigrant pagent vs. Miss USA or even becoming a Miss "State" is higher and harder to accomplish considering the bias against Middle Easterners in the United States. My point is, it's easier for a Lebanese girl to win Miss Lebanon emigrant vs Miss Michigan or Miss USA... Miss Lebanon Australia is another pageant that very well leads to Miss Lebanon emigrant... If the judges thought Jessica had a chance in Miss Universe, she would have won easily, but even after she had beat Rima in Miss Lebanon emigrant they have decided not to choose her. Dana Abdallah won Miss Universities she is prettier than Jessica... Why not send her :-P
